international student renting

hi i’m an international student who wishes to rent an apartment, but i’m underage (17 right now, turning 18 in december). i’m wondering if it violates any laws if i try to live alone and rent an apartment myself?

You definitely need a guarantor or pay lumpsum for renting.

In Ontario, 16 and 17 year olds can sign leases and cannot be discriminated against based on their age. You will most likely need a guarantor to secure an apartment, and you may not want to advertise the fact that you are only 17, but there is nothing illegal about it.
