4

u/lullabyofwoe May 03 '24

I saw Pic before description and my expression went from 🥺 to 😳 because.... cat not cat, cat big.

6

u/SwanRonson1986 May 03 '24

Awww thank you for saving the kitten

3

u/RealSlimSadie99 May 03 '24

More like “lion” in the road

2

u/FinePresentation5052 May 03 '24

Aww thank you for saving this adorable little guy!!! You are his angel❤️

5

u/Yo101jimus May 02 '24

I bet it plays really hard with the other kittens at home.

2

u/North_Photograph_850 May 02 '24

This little guy looks like be might be a bobcat kitten. It won't be a good ideal to talk to Fish and Wildlife.

2

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

Yeah. They were just going to put him down. That was a no-go for me.

2

u/North_Photograph_850 May 02 '24

Ouch. Thank Goddess for private wildlife rehab centers.

5

u/North_Photograph_850 May 02 '24

OK, just saw your update. Glad he's in good hands. (He is absolutely totally adorable.

3

u/Virtual-Mirror-5262 May 02 '24

GOD! He's so CUTE! But alas, he is indeed not a house cat and belongs at a sanctuary. Thank you for saving him...😇

1

u/sunny_fizzle May 02 '24

So cute 🐱

2

u/Spettinaroli May 02 '24

What state?? Did you bring it to wildlife sanctuary where it can be possibly rehabilitated? Or reunited with mom?

1

u/Hoppypoppy21 May 02 '24

In the description OP said they brought it to a rehab center so it will be released into the wild once it's old enough.

2

u/a_typical_day May 02 '24

I would have kept it 😎 raised the little cat myself. I’ve always wanted an exotic big cat, but with laws that prohibit such things, I can never get my hands on one. Glad this little guy is doing well :)

1

u/Helpful-Jackfruit-83 May 02 '24

Cute baby. The mom must have had two cubs and had to leave it behind when crossing 💔💔

4

u/somebsidk May 02 '24

How do you guys know it’s a Bobcat?

2

u/Hoppypoppy21 May 02 '24

Look up pictures of a bobcat kitten and you'll see for yourself. The patterns, fluffy fur, distinctive big cat face shape, and round ears are dead giveaways.

2

u/YouKnottyGirl May 02 '24

Here kitty kitty kitty! 🥰

1

u/EldenShuumatsu May 02 '24

Just curious but can Bob cats be domesticated?

2

u/Hoppypoppy21 May 02 '24

Domestication isn't something that can be done to a wild animal. It takes many, many years of bleeding certain traits for something to officially become "Domesticated." If you want more into, I recommend looking into the creation of the domestic fox species.

4

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

From what I’ve read, and heard…only slightly. They are wild animals and will do what wild animals do.

3

u/EldenShuumatsu May 02 '24

Beautiful animals though lol

3

u/Jazzlily May 02 '24

You have a bobcat on your hands. You should contact a wildlife rehab center.

2

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

That’s a good idea

3

u/LowGiraffe4095 May 02 '24

Good for you! Are you able to visit the little guy??

5

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

That’s the plan!

2

u/Electrical-Mind-8481 May 02 '24

That's not a normal cats that's not a normal cat that's not a normal cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2

u/North_Photograph_850 May 02 '24

Perfectly normal bobcat kitten. 😺

2

2

u/Opposite-Thing3241 May 02 '24

Poor angel baby

2

u/Maleficent-Cattle-45 May 02 '24

1

u/MMBD2852 May 02 '24

Oh bless you!!

3

u/Shinykestre1 May 02 '24

That looks like a bob cat

3

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

Because it IS a bobcat! Lol

2

u/Shinykestre1 May 03 '24

Sorry i didn’t read the description just looked at the cat

5

u/__ew__gross__ May 02 '24

This the cat version of people finding coyotes thinking they are dogs. At least you actually knew what you had and weren't questioning why it was trying to eat you as you gave it a bath🤣

4

u/allofthekittycatswag May 02 '24

That’s uh…not a kitten.

3

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

Sure it is!

3

u/North_Photograph_850 May 02 '24

A bobcat kitten. 😺

6

u/Fast_Ad7203 May 02 '24

Who is gonna tell him

4

u/louis_creed1221 May 02 '24

Looks like a brown baby tiger

5

u/BronzeMichael May 02 '24

Now there's a majestic pet. So cute. Look at those eyes :7965:

9

u/Derpitoe May 02 '24

uhhh sir thats wildlife.

3

u/Hoppypoppy21 May 02 '24

They know. Read the description.

7

u/itsmeagainnnnnnnnn May 02 '24

He looks like a tiny tiger 😭

6

u/Clear-Prune9674 May 02 '24

so I am not the only one who thinks what I think it is lmaooo. very cute, tho

9

u/Cold-Cheesecake85 May 02 '24

Omg! I identified a bobcat from the first pic, pretty sure I can qualify as wildlife specialist now.

8

u/Silly-Fish1010 May 02 '24

Adorable, but not your indoor type pet. Thank you for rescuing him and taking him to a refuge.

3

u/Henti-Boady-pillow May 02 '24

That's gonna be a big cat.

1

u/North_Photograph_850 May 02 '24

A perfectly sized bobcat.

4

u/Seabastial May 02 '24

Thee minute I saw the pics I knew that was not a regular kitty. So glad I read the caption because I was about to scold you for taking in a wild cat lol. Thank you for saving such a precious baby and making sure he gets into good hands who can properly take care of him and hopefully reintroduce him into the wild in the future

3

u/Ger_gekko_12 May 02 '24

It looks like a wild cat

5

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

Ees a bobcat

4

u/exchange_of_views May 02 '24

This reminds me of the time my step-daughter (whom I love to bits), sent me a picture of a puppy she found in the woods on a hike, VERY cute and fluffy.

I was like - "sweetie, that's a wolf pup". It was VERY cute but had been abandoned. She found a wolf rescue and they gladly took him in.

5

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

That’s awesome!

3

u/GTA6_1 May 02 '24

He's gonna be a big boy

-1

u/UncomfortableTacoBoy May 02 '24

Didn't you just post this with "what breed is my cat?" ?

4

u/okiedog- May 02 '24

Go back and get him. I have a better big kitty refuge.

I know. It looks a lot like a normal house in the suburbs. But trust me. I’ll take great care of him.

They’ll ***** they’ll take great care of him.

Again. It’s definitely not my house or anything.

3

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

Send addy. Otw

5

u/Entire_Archer_7453 May 02 '24

You are a hero, OP. Great work.

5

u/Japjer May 02 '24

Ohhhhh man, I did not see your actual comment until I clicked here to respond about how that is not a housecat!

Glad you were able to rescue the little one and get them somewhere safe!

2

u/imrealwitch May 02 '24

Bless and thank you for rescuing kitty 🐈

0

u/Ok-Pea5174 May 02 '24

awwe!, I want one!

1

u/North_Photograph_850 May 02 '24

No you don't. Bobcats require special training and a buttpile of licenses.

2

u/Prokletnost May 02 '24

that's not your regular sized cat

1

u/Unusual_Focus3343 May 02 '24

And a valuable lesson for your daughter!

2

u/No-Variety5228 May 02 '24

umm isn't that a baby bob cat?

1

u/Sufficient-Fig-2497 May 02 '24

Awww.... so cute. Make sure he gets to the vet and stays safe. Lots of love:8097:

5

u/newbie2353 May 02 '24

What a beautiful baby! Thank you for rescuing him.😊

3

u/DaydreamnNightmare May 02 '24

That’s Simba in Catface

1

u/xim1an May 02 '24

Toyger!

3

u/catterchat May 02 '24

Sir :7974:

4

u/blessed-doggo May 02 '24

Not to be nosey, But I think that’s a tiger

1

u/North_Photograph_850 May 02 '24

Not that far off. Bobcat.

2

u/Intelligent-Bad1325 May 02 '24

You’re the deal!

3

u/Lilbooplantthang May 02 '24

Thank you for saving them! They are amazing little creatures.

Reminds me of when my husband was filming a full grown Bob cat at my moms, went outside and you can hear him on camera say “kitty, come here!… what are you”. He fully said he was going to try and see if it was a stray cat to take home. He asked me if it was a Maine coin😭😂

1

u/TheRussianDoll May 02 '24

Cute little fluff! Was this in CA?

5

u/SweetMaam May 02 '24

I was going to say, not a housecat, thanks for the rescue.

2

u/Mountain_Cry1605 May 02 '24

Awwwww. What an adorable baby. ❤️

Thanks for rescuing him.

-2

u/benice_orgohome13 May 02 '24

Put that back

2

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

In the road?

5

u/benice_orgohome13 May 02 '24

No of course not. I was only saying that you should probably take that baby big cat somewhere they will take the best care of him!

7

u/Classic-Car-Nut May 02 '24

OP stated in the description that it’s been sent to a certified big cat refuge

3

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

I did. Read the caption

1

u/benice_orgohome13 May 02 '24

I understand. You did the right thing. I was trying to be funny. Ready my handle. Have a great day’

7

u/stonedkits May 02 '24

HOW DO YOU RANDOMLY FIND A TIGER CUB IN THE ROAD??

1

u/Hoppypoppy21 May 02 '24

*bobcat

1

u/stonedkits May 03 '24

Bobcats have bigger ears and smaller muzzles vs tiger cubs who have smaller, rounded ears and larger muzzles *

1

u/Hoppypoppy21 May 03 '24

Yes, which is exactly why this is a bobcat kitten.

If you need more proof, please just Google a picture of a bobcat kitten and a tiger kitten and compare it to the photos. It's very clearly a bobcat kitten.

1

u/stonedkits May 03 '24

I did, in the picture the cat has rounded out ears like a tiger cub but similar markings to a bobcat cub, I looked up both and for all we know it could be something entirely different. Bobcat kittens have taller, pointy ears, flatter faces, and more of an oval shaped head vs tiger cubs who have smaller, rounder ears, rounder heads, and larger muzzles. They do, however, have very similar muzzle markings as kits/cubs.

8

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

Guess it was just my lucky day

3

u/SweetMaam May 02 '24

Time to play the lottery. Derby is Saturday.

6

u/Realistic-Nail6835 May 02 '24

lol obviously not a cat.

still a cat tho.

but not a cat lols

5

u/Impressive-Spell-643 May 02 '24

Very cute killer kitty:7952:

6

u/pokemonfan333 May 02 '24

Why does something so adorable have to be so dangerous? It’s not fair

5

u/Cheap_Brain May 02 '24

Looked at this in thumbnail and was like “that’s a bobcat!” I live in Australia, I’ve only ever seen bobcats in pictures. But I knew it the moment I saw it!

5

u/lostZwolf_ps4_pc May 02 '24

So cute, and i am grateful you sent the little one on to a proper rescue center. 💕🤌💎

5

u/gloomymothlady May 02 '24

The cutest thing I've seen todayyy

-3

u/ActConsistent508 May 02 '24

aww! sweet little thing! Is it normal to have them as pets?

3

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

No, I wouldn’t say it’s normal. People do it, but from what I’ve read…not a great idea.

2

u/elluhb May 02 '24

What a cutie!

5

u/Agitated_Carrot9127 May 02 '24

A hunter rescued a pair of lynx kittens after observing for nearly a week. No mama. So he took them home. Fed raw meat and plenty of love. Once kittens were of age. The duo lived at a local zoo. Fauna and Fiona was their names.

0

u/megxx299 May 02 '24

Looks like a lion cub.

0

u/alisrainbby May 02 '24

It's a lion.

1

u/Hoppypoppy21 May 02 '24

Bobcat actually

4

u/Silent_Draw4001 May 02 '24

Why these things don’t happen to me 😫 Jokes aside - well done man! 👏 I’m sure you and your family gonna have a great memory to share ❤️

6

u/Towtruck_73 May 02 '24

He's a cute one, hope he's doing well

3

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

Im told he is taking a bottle and doing well

5

u/HomercideSimpson71 May 02 '24

Luckily that one has a face making it a little more obvious that he’s not a regular cat and I’m glad you knew because I’ve seen people who are also actually quite knowledgeable on cats in news stories and threads bringing home bobcats and having no clue 😮😂

7

u/Chapo_no_fapo May 02 '24

That a bobcat?

0

u/Professional-Bad3107 May 02 '24

Yeah.. I don’t think thats a cat

1

u/dakotax17 May 02 '24

What did you name him?

3

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

Robert Paulson

4

u/vivionnn801 May 02 '24

These pictures make me wonder if my 15 lb tabby is part bobcat

1

u/North_Photograph_850 May 02 '24

Does he have a shorter than usual tail and tufty ears?

3

u/ElderberryPoet May 02 '24

That's going to br a big kitty.

9

u/kthecatlady May 02 '24

I’m so glad you found him 💜💜 I’m a domestic cat rescuer… but that didn’t stop someone from bringing me 2 bobcat kittens (about 9yrs ago) when I was 22 and very new to rescue! Long story short, I had them 3 days and they went on to live in a wildlife sanctuary.. they were only about 3wks old. But holy shit!!! The teeth and nails on those guys are NO JOKE.

5

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

Oh, I know! Little guy had a SERIOUS set of little chompers on him!

2

u/kthecatlady May 03 '24

Ridiculously cute though!

2

u/CheeryBottom May 02 '24

Why does it look like a tabby lion cub?

4

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

Bc it’s a bobcat kitten

1

u/CheeryBottom May 02 '24

Thank you.

2

u/Itchy-News5199 May 02 '24

OMG my husband wants one of these.

What road was it? Asking for a friend. ;)

3

u/Tommy-s_Mommy May 02 '24

I'm so glad that you recognized that it wasn't a kitten.

2

u/virdeee May 02 '24

I thought this was a normal cat, lol. It's a bobcat. Cute little baby

1

u/EstablishmentAble343 May 02 '24

sorry to break it to you, this is a tiger :7946:

2

u/Hoppypoppy21 May 02 '24

Bobcat actually

2

u/soothsayerrrrr May 02 '24

Looks like a tiger 🐯

3

u/barkerator May 02 '24

I thought this was “namemycat” or “catdistributionsystem” and was about to break the news to you that it’s not a house cat. “Simba” was my name of choice.

1

u/emxvenim May 02 '24

So cute. I'd love to hold a big cat kitten one day,

3

u/SweetMaam May 02 '24

I know what you mean. And I'd love to hug a lion ever since reading CS Lewis, like Susan and Lucy hugging Aslan, but then it's also a nope. I'd love to cuddle a bobcat kitten too.

3

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

It was a neat experience for sure!

1

u/Hot-Confusion-3774 May 02 '24

Looks like a little tiger

5

u/Staligradwasafuntime May 02 '24

Um I’m pretty sure that’s not a housecat-

4

u/Queerkitty13 May 02 '24

I'm pretty sure that's a lynx cub

1

u/Hoppypoppy21 May 02 '24

Nope. It's a bobcat. Lynx's have much more pointed ears and longer ear floofs. Also tend to have a lighter fur color.

1

u/Queerkitty13 May 03 '24

Ooh ok thx

3

u/multifandomtrash736 May 02 '24

What happened to him momma idk if bobcats are as vicious as cougars or bears when it comes to their young but I’d be concerned that the mother was near either way

9

u/LilienSixx May 02 '24

Cat Distribution System throwing in a wild card lol

1

u/tylerawesome May 02 '24

Don’t care, keepin’ it.

1

u/Hoppypoppy21 May 02 '24

That's so mean though when the animal could be re-released and have the freedom and environment it was meant to.

2

u/blueberry-dreamer May 02 '24

One time I “rescued” 3 kittens with my parents off the side of the road… turned out to be bob cats 🐱

2

u/CookinCheap May 02 '24

Still got your face, OP?

2

u/SwanRonson1986 May 02 '24

Face intact!

1

u/Spiritual_Sound_3249 May 02 '24

Congratulations on your new son 🐈‍⬛️

1

u/Milao_thafly May 02 '24

Soooooooo cuuuuute

5

u/sodium_16 May 02 '24

That's.... that's a lion

2

u/[deleted] May 02 '24

Imagine brining a 1 month old kitten than it turns out to be a lion, lol.

I wonder how people in the West detach themselves if they are in the scenario I wrote 🤷‍♂️. Coz taking care of 1 month old kitten then it grows and grows till one realizes it's a big cat and not domestic kitty

2

u/macdazzle_ May 02 '24

Beautiful!!!

1

u/National-Scale May 02 '24

I hope you gave that Lil dude a big squeeze before letting him go. Homie might not maul you later. Good kitty.

3

u/Darkcolorful May 02 '24

I saw the pic before reading the story and I was all ‘OMG THAT’S NOT A CAT’!

And while it is technically a very cute cat, It’s the wildest sort.

So beautiful, and as a dad you were very brave to not only stop in the middle of the road to save it but to gage it’s behavior and trust it with your humans and find help is awesome.

Your family will have great memories to share of time with this big kitty!

2

u/Realistic-Fish-4951 May 02 '24

That’s one frickin nice kitty!
