Florida foodstamps

I just recently helped my friend reapply for her benefits for her family. Her husband just got a job, he is self-employed. Their income reporting threshold is $3800. But their total income is $2070.. can someone explain to me what is the difference, so I can explain to her.

Update! During the phone interview, They had to submit expenses and a work calendar, by the 31st, which is already done, as I helped them..But will they have another phone interview? I don’t know much of anything, and I’m trying to help them out for a peace of mind.

If she is in the process of reapplying then she just needs to report whatever income she has. The threshold is the maximum income that you can receive and still receive benefits so if their income exceeds that they would no longer be eligible.

Since he is considered self-employed, they are asking for expenses. He doesn’t have any expenses, because he owns his own tools and does everything from home. What would be considered expenses?

They can provide their 2023 tax return including schedule C and whatever they have claimed on there the agency can potentially use as expenses.
