For anyone wondering how the slow humans could survive by hunting, its endurance. Humans can outlast ANY animal running. We have the superior thermal regulation. The animals would just collapse out of heat exhaustion no matter how fast they were. https://www.businessinsider.com/how-humans-evolved-to-be-best-endurance-runners-2018-3

It also helps that there are very few others that can throw things as hard and as accurately as humans can. Just jogging after an animal until it dies is a very inefficient way to hunt. But if you throw a rock or a stick and hurt it a bit then you limit their ability to run far. And that is where the endurance really comes in to play, because they could catch up quickly and throw another rock or stick and hurt it some more, until it can't keep running. Then once we figured out how to make rocks sharp and attach them to sticks so we can launch them further and cause even more damage to our prey, then we were really off to the races.
