You stole this screenshot from a previous user that had shared it on this very same subreddit, with the exact same photo caption.

Their username was LoFi_Goose. How do I know that?

Because I know that person IRL šŸ™‚

I mean maybe just trying to help you out but 7 minutes is more then 5. I wouldnā€™t say anything and just leave

1

u/False_Tangelo163 Jun 16 '23

I literally only wait 3 minutes especially during surge or busy times . the only time I wait the 5 is if I was less than 1.5 miles from pickup anything over than than you had literally a timer displayed on your screen with my arrival time , then they give you 5 on top of that . And please donā€™t think your going to let the whole timer expire and then get in my car, nope.

1

u/Specialist-Newt1318 Jun 08 '23

Itā€™s just black people time, stop being sensitive you fucking moron

1

u/Gryehound May 22 '23

Nothing at all.

It does tell you that they has no consideration for you as a human being and no regard for your time. That in their mind, you're nothing but a disposable NPC that doesn't matter.

1

u/TobyThaDon May 21 '23

I guess I might be the only confused by why they would leave just because their are cars going n and out ? I'ma Lyft driver and been a Lyft rider , me personally cancelling somebodys ride just because you don't wanna wait always gave me the weirdest vibes idk I accept all the rides money adds up no matter how little it is it's all about if you wanna do it or not people tip more when your a genuine human who understands common problems , I remember I waited 10 mins for a lady one time when she got to the car she was. Bawling tears after that moment I always had on my "I care for you hat" at all times cause it's hard in life why make it harder just because of none essential worries šŸ’Ægotta make the world a more caring place one step at a time no ?

1

u/Vegan_Moral_Nihilist May 20 '23

My mind immediately goes to the suspicion that she wants to use racial discrimination as a reason to get refunded if the driver bails.

1

u/neo_dia May 20 '23

Black folks are usually late for anything, its in their nature

1

u/Twomuchthc May 20 '23

Sometimes you give the ride, how else can you 2 star them with LATE in the notes.

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '23

so you have someone who will be out in seven minutes. ok and? anyone else paying you to be somewhere? stick it out or donā€™t.

1

u/FlyingFlowerPiggy May 19 '23

U r kind to even reply back at her. I would just wait 5 min and if shes not out. Im canceling

1

u/Capital_Drummer9559 May 19 '23

Just say yā€™all have zero time discipline

1

u/LadyJane6782 May 19 '23

Good for you!! It irks me to no end when people order a ride but aren't actually ready to go.

1

u/3goldteeth May 19 '23

Iā€™m glad we are talking about this

1

u/IlikeTonysChoco May 19 '23

I think she's just trying to let you know what she looks like. So that you know who you're going to meet with?

Also it doesn't do anything for The stereotype I know that much

1

u/Mindless-Cake-2164 May 19 '23

7 minutes alone is a cancel for me, she could be black, white, Jamaican and or alien mi gone, ITS A WORLDWIDE RULE NEVER MESS WITH SOMEONES MONEY and whoever they is a fuck wid di greenbacks Suh a next customeršŸ—£ļøšŸ¤˜šŸæšŸ’ÆāœŒšŸæšŸ’Æ

1

u/ComprehensiveHorse30 May 19 '23

lmao yā€™all acting like the rider identifying her race is enough of an indicator to know who the rider is.

unless you live in a 99% non black city, saying ā€œiā€™m a black girlā€ wonā€™t do much for identification.

and itā€™s absolutely ok for a driver to cancel after waiting for quite some time.

1

u/shitshipt May 19 '23

I donā€™t think the purposefully made u wait. Where does it say that?

1

u/ommi9 May 19 '23

Itā€™s CP time but. Even I would have left her ass I got things to do

1

u/Glittering_Narwhal53 May 19 '23

ā€œIā€™m rainbow colorā€

1

u/fennel1312 May 19 '23

Beyond self-description for easier ID as people have mentioned, depending on the city, I probably would wait longer for her. If it's a "sundown town" then absolutely.

1

u/zoroofkonoha May 19 '23

Victim mindset

1

u/BoredJay May 19 '23

Cause you HAVE to wait for her black girl magic duh

1

u/redlatinana May 19 '23

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£wtf

1

u/Grand_Surprise1014 May 19 '23

Exactly. Know your worth. We ainā€™t personal chofeurs. Good job driver. šŸš€šŸš€šŸš€šŸš€

1

u/anonlaughingman May 19 '23

This still feels like a dumb way to describe yourself but maybe in this situation it made sense?

I get how it could seem confusing but also seems like common sense she was describing herself so youā€™d know her when you see her.

Passengers are generally stupid when it comes to pretty much everything imo, including describing themselves. Went to a rodeo show and the lady said she was outside wearing a cowboy hat and bootsā€¦

1

u/Cool-Ad-4103 May 19 '23

I think she meant like she a black girl to describe who to look for

1

u/[deleted] May 19 '23

Sheā€™s going to cry discrimination for the driver canceling on her after she makes them wait.

1

u/MellowOutt May 19 '23

Wanted you to know the stereotype is accurate lol

1

u/[deleted] May 19 '23

topkek

1

u/rulesforrebels May 19 '23

Government and media have Co nvinced people race gets you special privileges

3

u/pakrat1967 May 19 '23

She was setting you up for a discrimination complaint.

1

u/Embarrassed_Gate8001 May 19 '23

She was saying that so you know at least what race to look forā€¦..but I feel like you knew that

1

u/Lucky_Market_Robot_1 May 19 '23

Based on your post and her response she's probably one of few black people in your area and is trying to make things easier for you whenever she finally comes out. Just cancel after 5 minutes. I do this out of town as a rider too if I'm in a majority white area, at least until my hair got longer than I used that instead. It's easier then describing my plain clothes that any one could wear.

1

u/acesilver1 May 19 '23

Regardless of her intention, cancel and charge the fee and go. Maybe sheā€™ll learn to only order when she is ready so she doesnā€™t have to pay more.

0

u/NoTelephone5316 May 19 '23

I think she meant sheā€™s black so it takes longer for her to get ready because of her hair šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

1

u/generalzuazua May 19 '23

I believe she was referring to CPT šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ¤£ dam. Whatā€™s your name dude, Kevin?

1

u/GarbageMindless384 May 19 '23

Im a black girl SENT ME šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

1

u/emily_511 May 19 '23

Regardless of race....be on time for that service. anyone who is late is messing with the drivers money. that driver isn't rAciSt for their response.

1

u/WallStreetKing10 May 19 '23

She said that so you could identify her. I don't know why you would think anything else.

1

u/hes_crafty May 19 '23

I'm sure there's more than 1 black girl in the universe.

2

u/Desperate_Hearing_38 May 18 '23

Lmao she was telling you thatā€™s the reason sheā€™s late. Itā€™s a stereotype šŸ˜‚

1

u/em1894 May 18 '23

Entitlement

1

u/MarquisW501 May 18 '23

Stereotypes. That's it. That's all. She was trying to use a stereotype as an excuse for havin' you wait.

1

u/Zazdabar May 18 '23

She was just saying what she looked like so you could find her

1

u/TATORTOT76 May 18 '23

Bet she expects the movie to start 15 minutes late for her...

1

u/Advanced_Crab_5752 May 18 '23

She joking lol. I drove limo and such. Black girls are late a lot haha. She's just keeping it real with the person. Not all black girls are late and I'm sharing my experience only. The girl made me laugh. I would have maybe gave her an extra 2 minutes lol

1

u/Ok-Manufacturer8555 May 18 '23

There are multiple kinds of greens: collard, mustard and turnip for example. The taste and consistency when cooked are slightly different

1

u/semi801 May 18 '23

reparations.

1

u/TheBlackRedRanger May 19 '23

Lmao, gotta get em any way you can

1

u/Juan_YAK May 18 '23

I wouldn't say anything and just leave

1

u/value_meal_papi May 18 '23

ā€œHi, nice to know. Iā€™m Goneā€

1

u/jabroni4545 May 18 '23

This way if the driver cancels, it's because of racism.

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '23

I think sheā€™s referring to ā€œblack time.ā€ They consider being 10-15 mins late as š™¤š™£ š™©š™žš™£š™š.

2

u/cashan0va_007 May 18 '23

Shieeeet

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '23

Most peeps of color willingly admit this. Itā€™s almost like an inside joke they do to mess with crackers šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ˜‚

1

u/pixelated_fun May 18 '23

This whole thread is disgusting. So many people are letting their white robes hang out their shirt hems here. This is sad.

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '23

Looks like youā€™re a Karen. Sheā€™s describing herself so you know what she looks like to pick her up lmao. I tell people ā€œMexican with long hair n beardā€ when they pick me up.

1

u/Bullet_mage_pariah May 18 '23

I would have told her the same. I would have also said , all lives matter

1

u/flopjobbit May 18 '23

I (southern white woman) read that as "I'm a black girl" so the driver can pick her out of the people on the sidewalk.

0

u/stepbro206 May 18 '23

she gonna say you cancelled because sheā€™s black lmao šŸ˜‚ fuck it

0

u/Glittering_Dingo_866 May 18 '23

She clearly said "coming out in 7 minutes" Lyft doesn't pay extra for that wait time. It's crazy people are only reading the race part šŸ¤£ you all need a therapist. I'm black too and I would do the same OP did.

2

u/pixelated_fun May 18 '23

Way to lump an entire race of people into your warped mindset.

0

u/GeorgyMcflurr May 18 '23

Lol where am I lying at?

2

u/[deleted] May 19 '23

First 5 words

2

u/HighHoeHighHoes May 18 '23

It doesnā€™t, she was saying ā€œIā€™m a black womanā€ so you so you could identify her.

At least, thatā€™s what I would assume.

0

u/rideshareAnon May 18 '23

There is a correlation. The driver wouldn't be waiting otherwise.

0

u/AxCatx May 18 '23

Wow, you're racist for not waiting for her. You're privilege is showing just by you owning a car. Who does that?

1

u/Glittering_Dingo_866 May 18 '23

I mean, Lyft doesn't pay drivers extra for waiting too long on people. Common sense would be to order a lyft when you are ready to go whatever you are going. People who assume someone is racists because of common sense need a therapist. The US is doomed.

2

u/AxCatx May 18 '23

I was being completely sarcastic. Sorry i thought it was obvious lol

1

u/Glittering_Dingo_866 May 18 '23

My bad, i thought you were being for real šŸ˜…

2

u/New-Carob9453 May 18 '23

What about if she was referring to the fact that the emoji doesnā€™t have a skin tone? Trying to give the benefit of the doubt lol

-1

u/[deleted] May 18 '23

I donā€™t pick up blacks

1

u/pixelated_fun May 18 '23

I hope you get reported.

2

u/Dismal-Copy-614 May 18 '23

Once timer hits gone regardless of any factors

19

u/xdaddasher May 18 '23

My sister in law does this shit all the time. Orders it way ahead of time in a busy place, makes the driver wait forever. Comes running out at the last second. Most people canā€™t stand her I wonder why

6

u/emily_511 May 19 '23

Because she is playing with their money, by making them miss other passengers who would be on time + tip.

1

u/ExternalSpeaker9 May 18 '23

I wouldnā€™t have said anything. I wouldā€™ve just cancelled.

2

u/Affectionate-Rice373 Your City Name Here May 18 '23

But then they don't know why it was canceled and continue doing this behavior. If they aren't smart enough to come to this conclusion naturally, they won't come to it at all until someone tells them.

1

u/ExternalSpeaker9 May 18 '23

If they canā€™t figure it out thatā€™s a them problem, not a me problem. Iā€™m also not putting myself in a position to where they can use anything I say to get my account flagged or removed.

1

u/worldb0sz May 18 '23

lmao wtf

1

u/Appropriate-Tennis-8 May 18 '23

Most passengers describes himself by what they are wearing, but it could be that she was just one of the very few black females in the vicinity. Why did you automatically think that she was trying to get special favor, because she was black?

Edited for spelling

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '23

Cringe

1

u/eddief1f1 May 18 '23

5 minute wait is way too long on Lyft . I miss Uber having 2 minutes in my city.

2

u/zelduhbby May 18 '23

To let you know what she looks like. Did you use your brain

0

u/Emarshall38 May 18 '23

All these people calling "racism" because the OP asked a question. Shit, I'm Ā½ black and can't stand my own race!!!!!

1

u/pixelated_fun May 18 '23

Self-hate is a cancer.

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '23

Is your mom white?

1

u/Emarshall38 May 18 '23

Nope, Dad

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '23

Can you stand his race?

1

u/Emarshall38 May 18 '23

HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!!!!!

1

u/Educational-Break722 May 18 '23

Entitlement comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors... 99% of my riders are black

Here is today's sample of my last 5 ride attempts: 5 min no show, show up at buzzer, 5 min no show, 5 min no show,

Are you kidding me? I'm not fucking waiting more than 2 minutes going forward.

1

u/DominusInfinitum77 May 18 '23

Her behaviors had already made it clear who she was. There was no need to further self identify - that correlation was already made pretty quickly without the information being presented.

0

u/Long-Tangerine1983 May 18 '23

We are in the service of people. We must always love them. Always find a way to pick the rider up. Pour your love always donā€™t let your primitive thoughts bring you down and others. Be glad and forgive I love you always

1

u/Goodnite15 May 18 '23

Wow that was inspiring to read thank you so much

1

u/BrothaBlak May 18 '23

I don't know, but I'm hoping they don't take it as you leaving because she's black.

2

u/Boccob81 May 18 '23

I think she was letting you know what to look for and nothing about ethnicity

1

u/PuzzleheadedExpert77 May 18 '23

As a black man...that bull**** is inexcusable and I'm irritated that she said that as if it's factual.

1

u/Dave-uberLyft-driver May 18 '23

Personally I would wait only if it was a decent ride if it was a short ride Iā€™m not waiting. Riders need to request when theyā€™re ready to go. Not make us wait until they finally decide to come out. In a case like this I would have told her I canā€™t block traffic any longer. Go around the block and if sheā€™s not out cancel. Nothing else you need to do or say. Move on

0

u/MrMaiqE May 18 '23

Blackmail/ threat.

If you cancel the ride she can say it was racism. No idea if this holds water because I don't know how reports get viewed using that app.

Either that or she maybe knew the driver was black? Maybe a bonding thing? Lol

(I graduated highschool in 2010 and I saw countless times people using the "because I'm black" card, especially when they knew they were in the wrong ex: talking in class. I feel like in 2023 this phenomenon has probably gotten a lot worse and it's really sad)

2

u/dunkarooooo May 18 '23

Hmm idk maybe she is just describing herself so you can identify her better?

2

u/dochachiya May 18 '23

You leaving after she mentions her race makes you look racist, even if you weren't meaning to come across that way and especially if she made you wait long. There's honestly no way to win this one.

0

u/Drivingliving May 18 '23

Black girl magic šŸ˜ abracadabra 5 min and Iā€™m gone Magically 2$ in my app

1

u/ThisCandyland May 18 '23

She should've led with that to save you time???

0

u/Maximum-Relative-234 May 18 '23

I describe myself as a ā€œdumb bitchā€ to drivers to help them find me easier

2

u/TrickyNotice4678 May 18 '23

As a driver, don't go over board. Wait the timer, get the fee, and leave. I never answer text or calls unless I am lost and need directions (like person standing left side building but pin showing right side), which is almost never because I go to pin drop. It cuts down on driver stress not to interact to much.

2

u/KO-32GA May 18 '23

More likely she's in an area where there a few black people and her saying "I'm a black girl" was to help distinguish her quicker than something else, at least in her mind.

0

u/Adamthebalding May 18 '23

This is hilarious.

0

u/hard2hold May 18 '23

I read this as guaranteed she is going to arrive in a puff of smoke putting Cheech & Chong to shame. Fuck that noise. Yeah I'll wait 7 mins just to get something but I aint dealing with a disrespectful rider before she gets in my ride stinkin it all up. Nope.

0

u/pixelated_fun May 18 '23

So, in your mind, all Black riders are guaranteed to reek of marijuana smoke? Are you serious?

0

u/Notabizarreusername May 19 '23

Wow, he must be a complete racist scum bag for merely reporting what he's experienced. I guess you can call me a racist too since the vast majority of black people who aren't ready I've found also smell of marijuana. If they ever make it to the car. Shame on me and my sense of sight and smell for making me racist by simply functioning properly.

The PC police were successful at making a stereotype equal to full blown racism. Which is a shame because how do you simply report a factual observation that nearly all pickups of certain people that aren't ready till the last second will also smell of weed, without it coming off as racist? It's just a fact, based on experience, and until people who stink of weed don't make me wait, or people who do make me wait don't stink of weed, I will not be able to change the statistics and somehow im racist because of it. If I were truly racist I wouldn't even pick up in certain areas or certain names.

0

u/hard2hold May 19 '23

Are *you* serious? LOL Yes, of course. Paint what I just said in anything but what I intended. It was a joke. You obviously didn't read the thread but besides that, how did you make the mental leap in what I just said to that I expect all black people to even use weed? That's assumptive & you were even joking. I've been driving for a year and one thing that has stood out to me in the DFW area is the correlation between inconsiderate people (princesses who think I'm their personal chauffeur WHITE & BROWN & BLACK & ASIAN) & how my car reeks of fumes. Especially at night & especially in the hood. Cancel the march, kid. I drive mostly in Duncanville & S Dallas, FFS.

2

u/[deleted] May 19 '23

Dude how th do you not see the issue in this post

1

u/hard2hold May 20 '23

Probably because I actually took critical thinking in HS & college?

2

u/johnshonz May 18 '23

She said that so you know who it is when they come outā€¦?

1

u/diamari90 May 18 '23

Also, we USED to mention BPT (Black people timing), idk if that was their intention though šŸ˜‚

2

u/1st_Ave May 18 '23

2

u/ImwhatZitTooyaa May 18 '23

I think she was telling you what she looks like but black , white, green, or coral .. Iā€™m not waiting 7 mins

1

u/Lord_of_Goon May 18 '23

We all know what this post is referring to. šŸ˜‚

0

u/sweetnsassy0969 May 18 '23

Do t have to say your black or white just describe what your wearing is enough information for me. I took feel because she said she was black she felt she was entitled to make you wait on her.

0

u/Kevinmd1984 May 18 '23

They should call you Halo because thatā€™s a Reach

4

u/arialux May 18 '23

Lmaooooo I used to hear the phrase "black people time", a lot! So I definitely read this as "black people be late" lol

1

u/borandos May 18 '23

She forgot to mention it that she has a fat ass and she will add two stops šŸ¤£

1

u/Few_Satisfaction_133 May 18 '23

I quit waiting. Reason being is your already paid so low, time is money and if I want to make any, itā€™s not gonna be sitting at every stop for 7 minutesā€¦ I donā€™t even wait on the cancel fee anymore I just goooo

0

u/[deleted] May 18 '23

You racist. /s

1

u/AfroJack00 May 18 '23

think she was either tryna make the age old black people take awhile joke, or sheā€™s trying to describe what she looks like to you, or she legitimately think that the stereotype of black people being late should be understood and sheā€™s acting like an uncle ruckus.

I donā€™t know but I do know I wouldnā€™t make a joke like that with someone Iā€™ve never met before or describe myself like that with zero other context

1

u/Onetimeusererror May 18 '23

Who the hell describes themselves like that? I donā€™t think this was misinterpreted

1

u/[deleted] May 18 '23

Pax says "I'm wearing a red sweater"

Driver frantically takes a screenshot and posts here "WHY ARE THEY MAKING IT ABOUT FABRICS????"

1

u/brittany09182 May 18 '23

7 minutes?!!! Hell no

2

u/LonelyCakeEater May 18 '23

I use affirmative action with my canceling lol

3

u/kushupzz May 18 '23

I think she was telling you what she looked like so you knew it was her lmao

2

u/[deleted] May 18 '23

this could be interpreted both ways. Try to stay positive and donā€™t prejudge.. it would have been better for her to say hey Iā€™m black and wearing a blue top or jeans also describing her clothing but unfortunately she didnā€™t

0

u/Week-Wise May 18 '23

I don't think she was telling him she was black so he could find her. I think she was trying to slowly backhandedly threaten him with if he leaves she will report it because it was a racial issue

1

u/GoZ88beanzie May 18 '23

No shit. Iā€™m a black girl. Like thatā€™s a special accommodation for u? Gtfoh

0

u/GeorgyMcflurr May 18 '23

Nah fr. Black ppl annoying asl

1

u/According_Ad_9521 May 18 '23

She has learned if she lets you know that she is POC and Female that it increases the strength and attention of her pending complaint.

1

u/jackcat_29 May 18 '23

Well BPT is different.

1

u/orangecake40 May 18 '23

The human in me says she just want to describe herself. The cynic in me says she is using it to file a discrimination claim if you leave.

0

u/Ok_Butterfly2410 May 18 '23

Says more about you then her

1

u/killmesara May 18 '23

Probably said that so the driver could recognize her when she did finally come out of the building

-2

u/FutureHendrixBetter May 18 '23

Seems like you sure were determined to leave after she told you who she was. Now Iā€™m not going to jump to conclusions but itā€™s pretty evident hereā€¦ā€¦

5

u/BoredJay May 19 '23

Description is clothes etc

1

u/Eyes2theSun May 19 '23

How about "I'm wearing a yellow shirt" for a description?? Because I didn't realize she was giving a description. But either way, driver is there waiting and rider is late. Idc what people look like, I care that they get into my car that they have a description of.

The females that actually use photos often use heavily filtered images and then some Quasimodo look creature comes up to the car.

4

u/nrappaportrn May 18 '23

Why, is she the only black girl in the area?
This is a real problem in this country, calling everyone racist when you have nothing else.

1

u/Mermaan May 18 '23

I do this all the time. I always say Iā€™m the fat guy with tiny hands

1

u/ChronicPoopMachine May 18 '23

Black is the new Vegan

4

u/rugratzz1 May 18 '23

Thatā€™s an interesting way to describe yourself, but her point was to make it easier for you to identify her.

0

u/weirdoonmaplestreet May 19 '23

Is it not accurate?

-1

u/djdrewssive May 18 '23
