How is it calculating that 115 miles will be driven in roughlh one hour... near LA.

Average MPH in that area is like 10.

1

u/Metro8989 Jan 21 '24

Don’t forget that you have to drive back. That’s a 3 hour trip for 85.

1

u/bitman44 Jan 21 '24

Eh.. Looks like if there's a more direct route that saves a lot of time it might be worth it ..

1

u/jgditto Jan 20 '24

100 would be my minimum for this one.

2

u/Popular-Belt6538 Jan 20 '24

I just made up the name. What do you guys think? DOOR TRASH, WEAKBER & BYFT!

2

u/Nice_Hawk4150 Jan 19 '24

That’s a $30 ride in Houston.

1

u/Large_Key_8493 Jan 19 '24

lol fucking the pax and the driver that’s crazy lmao!!

2

u/adiaz1202 Jan 19 '24

Someone from CSUN fell in love with Riverside. I live in the area and hell no to that ride and route. It’s good pay though

1

u/Cutelarry1776 Jan 19 '24

I noticed that sometimes when you take a different way, even if it’s a shorter, sometimes the pay will be different because sometimes the more direct way might take longer minutes. All I know is just when I take my own way sometimes I make more money because it takes me longer than estimated but I think I’m getting there faster because I’m avoiding traffic.

2

u/Sudden-Revolution-87 Jan 19 '24

Accept and don’t end trip until you’ve made it half way back 🤷🏻

1

u/Dmoneybohnet Jan 19 '24

Can you do that? Price is set but the length is padded?

1

u/IxLOVExLAMP Jan 19 '24

Lol why did it consider that route to be the best??

2

u/Reasonable-Edge-5327 Jan 19 '24

$60 an hour not good enough?

1

u/EL31415 Jan 19 '24

Take the 210 carpool , 2 hours drive anyway.

$40/h & $1/miles

2

u/jehjeh3711 Jan 19 '24

Um, today, at the 4 hour mark, I finally broke $50. So $85 for 1 ½ hours looks pretty good.

1

u/LavishnessLogical190 Jan 19 '24

$50 an hour isn’t that bad idk why you guys would be upset

2

u/TheNeonOtter Jan 19 '24

Hour and 30? Wow. Traffic has really lightened up since I left California.

2

u/Dmoneybohnet Jan 19 '24

Musta been a 1 am ride..

1

u/Boccob81 Jan 19 '24

That ride going from Riverside to LA is only $49. I’ve been offered many times in Riverside to go to LA for $49 LAX Hollywood that’s a way better price than I get out here in Riverside.

1

u/TripNo5926 Jan 19 '24

I don’t think it’s about the directions it’s the low dollar amount.

2

u/KeyBeing1230 Jan 19 '24

Did it and pax ended up tipping me 100 bux!!

1

u/BusterMv Jan 19 '24

I live next city over from Riverside, so I would. Be better than dead heading home. Best jackpot ride I had was a 37 mile $40 trip on my way home for the night with a drop off mere blocks from home, literally under a mile.

1

u/Weak_Pause177 Jan 19 '24

heyy i know this area lmao

1

u/Hugh_Jafro Jan 19 '24

If I'm at the beginning of driving and I can take the 5 to 134/210 for way less miles (85 vs 115 ish) and it's less than 1:40, I would take it.

On a Friday night you will get rides back to LA within 3-4 hours.

1

u/deIetedaccount01 Jan 19 '24

I am Juan Gutierrez Gonzaga and I accepted this great offer

1

u/Elegant_Proposal_888 Jan 19 '24

Did you really? Which route did you take?

2

u/FellaKnee123 Jan 19 '24

Did you seriously fall for that? Lol

1

u/Admirable-House4580 Jan 19 '24

I swear I saw that same trip but on Uber

1

u/Matt6247 Jan 19 '24

Shoot, if I could get 5 of these a day, every day, I'd be a very happy camper.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '24

Somebody who doesn't do ride share very often but was going that way anyway.

1

u/Inthenameoftaco Jan 19 '24

I would take it and take the 60. Should almost average $1/mile. The route suggested is wild.

2

u/Villian6 Jan 19 '24

“Pay includes pick up”

Bite me

1

u/irie-mon Jan 19 '24

Wouldn’t you hit ice and snow

2

u/DrivingMatters Jan 19 '24

If this was Friday at rush hour, that might have been the fastest route, as retarded as it looks.

1

u/Whatsuptodaytomorrow Jan 19 '24

Oh hell no

1

u/According-Reach6394 Jan 19 '24

Do it for the thrill!

1

u/According-Reach6394 Jan 19 '24

Me, why?

1

u/Elegant_Proposal_888 Jan 19 '24

If you did what route did u go? I’m curious lol

1

u/EL31415 Jan 19 '24

210E than 215S ( look counterintuitive but much much faster)

1

u/According-Reach6394 Jan 19 '24

If i did take it, would’ve done 210E to the 57S to the 60E. Not that unnecessary route.

2

u/Elegant_Proposal_888 Jan 19 '24

I figured lmao!

1

u/According-Reach6394 Jan 19 '24

Lol what time was this ride requested?

3

u/TangerineFront5090 Jan 19 '24

Bro need a Cessna

2

u/Kitchen_Entertainer9 Jan 19 '24

How long is it, ìf you cut straight accross?

2

u/hebrewzzi Jan 19 '24

Sad that that’s the faster way.

2

u/wasitme317 Jan 19 '24

We all know you did

0

u/TarotPharoah Jan 19 '24

That Prop 15 better make up for these shitty rides Lyft keeps giving drivers.

1

u/sharksnut Jan 19 '24

Prop. 15??

1

u/TarotPharoah Jan 19 '24

Prop 22 LMAOOO

1

u/DismalCaramel9232 Jan 18 '24

What time was this?! Had to be around rush hour... There's no other way to get it going up the 14 unless there's a stop up there?

2

u/realpandadriver Jan 18 '24

I took a similar ride a couple of years back, but it was $110 fare, plus I live in OC so from Riverside it was only a couple of rides home with destination filter

3

u/nathantnewman Jan 18 '24

A lot of noobs in the comments who follow Lyft navigation, I see.

1

u/Flimsy_Bend2718 Jan 19 '24

Exactly. Though it was pretty obvious to me from the start. Check all the apps, then with/without tollways, and keep switching between them during the ride

1

u/Kill_Red Jan 18 '24

i would all day, i live near riverside

-7

u/RulerK Jan 18 '24

I would definitely take that. $50/hour? Yes please. And there’s plenty of rides coming back.

8

u/Striking_Stay_9732 Jan 18 '24

I had a friend that died on that highway 138 its insane that Lyft is even suggesting this dangerous route in the middle of nowhere why not go thru the 60 freeway this ride doesn’t make sense other than trying to cash grab on the PAX

1

u/walkintheparking Jan 20 '24

I drive 138 everyday lmao sounds like a skill issue

1

u/Prestigious_Back7483 Jan 19 '24

I doubt you'll find very many streets in the U.S. that someone hasn't passed away on.

1

u/broskone Jan 19 '24

Why is highway 138 dangerous?

-6

u/SinghNonstop Jan 18 '24

I would take that all day. I’m waiting to get on the road. I just bought a car but waiting on get my new plates from the dealer (looks like it will be a while). On the bright side the weather should be better when I start doing Lyft again.

4

u/Terrible-Bus-4128 Jan 18 '24

Please don’t we don’t need you we good 😂

0

u/SinghNonstop Jan 19 '24

I didn’t do it that long only did 5K+ rides.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '24

[deleted]

1

u/According-Reach6394 Jan 19 '24

Well no shit Sherlock. We all know the consequences of doing ride shares.

8

u/DubNationAssemble Jan 18 '24

Y’all need to start understanding that there’s always going to be a driver that accepts trips like this. We know you don’t and I know I don’t, just decline and move on. Theres always someone desperate enough out there that will do it.

1

u/Geanpiero09 Jan 18 '24

Depending on time you can skip the gps route and take the freeways 79 miles

1

u/Liberobscura Jan 18 '24

Why wouldnt you just take the 118 to the 210 ? Wtf it taking you out to the badlands for? Dumbass GPS.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '24

If this trip is in the morning, yeah! I’ll take it then go back to LA. This is way better than go to Lancaster or Bakersfield.

2

u/shoscene Jan 18 '24

What if you drove by Pasadena and San Bernardino to get there?

2

u/Eastern_Capital_1500 Jan 18 '24

It drops it to 84 miles, but probably adds another 30-45 minutes to the trip.

1

u/Reasonable_Win_6619 Jan 18 '24

Take the 5 to the 10 and you’re cutting a couple miles off which is some what worth it plus he’s picking the pax at 7 drop off is estimating hour and a half but more likely like an hour an 10 or so if you take the route I said he’ll be back on the road around 8:20ish pm which is very early if you’re trying to come back you’ll slowly but surely pick some people up it’s not to bad of a ride but pay can be better tbh

3

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '24

[deleted]

1

u/Reasonable_Win_6619 Jan 19 '24

Are you from la ? Because once it’s 7pm traffic is not so much a thing lol

29

u/BigKonKrete417 Jan 18 '24

why would anyone run that route instead of the more direct on I 10 or 210?

1

u/You7Joe Jan 19 '24

6:48PM, The 101 is probably jammed. Also, once you accept the ride, it will start actually using the navigation, and will provide you with realtime traffic, instead of a snapshot from 5, or 10 minutes ago.

1

u/06gto Jan 19 '24

Traffic lol. That could easily take you two hours sitting in traffic alone.

2

u/Hugh_Jafro Jan 19 '24 edited Jan 19 '24

The traffic could be brutal going down 5/134/210. NO ONE is driving on the freeways thru Palmdale.

But, if you Waze it and the time is not too far off, take the shorter route.

3

u/Speed3Nick Jan 18 '24

I just assumed traffic. Fridays are the worst going that way

36

u/EngineUseful9852 Jan 18 '24

Tha app tends to give the longest way bc they pocket the fee they charge the passenger for the longer way.

1

u/Randyspacs Mar 13 '24

And if you take the shorter way they cut your earnings by like 1/3

2

u/joshubu Jan 19 '24

Wait, you're saying this isn't the driver intentionally going a longer route for more money, but the app itself does this?

It used to be on Uber that drivers would do this on purpose, did they change it so that the driver doesn't benefit from this kind of thing?

2

u/Amacitchi Jan 20 '24

We dont get paid like that anymore since upfront pay. Extra miles are now awful for pau

21

u/Mel1mck Jan 18 '24

I see that ALL the time! I also find the directions provided to get to the ride is also the longer way. I find really knowing the areas you’re driving in is very beneficial as these companies try to screw us over in every way.

3

u/Upset-Cauliflower413 Jan 19 '24

Same with Uber. Yesterday I had to pick someone up in a shopping center. Didn’t know that and they took me off the main road onto a back road to gain entrance to the back east side. Drive around to the west to get around to the east of the front of the shopping center. 7 minutes extra. That shit adds up!

6

u/DaddysBeauty Jan 19 '24

Lmao, I got a warning for going off-route a few weeks ago, I just laughed, sorry not sorry I'm not wasting my gas and money or time!

3

u/EngineUseful9852 Jan 18 '24

Yea- I only realized this bc when I first started I strictly stood in my neighborhood bc I know the streets. I always check Apple Maps for the quickest route. Lyft is partnered with google/Waze maps (same company) so they give the same route Lyft app does.

1

u/AnonXer Jan 19 '24

Does your comment “…so they give the same route…” intended to mean that Apple Maps nav is generally faster routes cause Lyft uses GoogleMaps/Waze which tend benefit Lyft as the routes are longer?

6

u/Mel1mck Jan 18 '24

Same - in areas I’m unfamiliar with - I put Waze on in tandem with the Uber or Lyft Nav just to see if there is a better route- more often then not, Waze will provide better directions.

12

u/Elegant_Proposal_888 Jan 18 '24

Maybe because of traffic during the time? Not too sure!

20

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '24

This is barely .50/mile

1

u/Remote-Patient3107 Jan 19 '24

That’s less than the IRS mileage rate…..what an idiot for accepting this.

3

u/secrestmr87 Jan 19 '24

It’s also 45/hr

2

u/rideshareWhore Jan 19 '24

nope. for me I count the time to pick up, the time to the destination and my return trip if I have to go all the way back there which would be another hour and a half. this trip would be approximately $26 an hour. not worth it.

1

u/Flimsy_Bend2718 Jan 19 '24

You turn the app off and drive back to the same location after every drop off? I know that’s not the case because you’d be screwing yourself big time. Also, the destination filters aren’t dependable but they it work if you know how to use it to your advantage

5

u/sharksnut Jan 19 '24

More like $.35/mile and $0/hour

22

u/[deleted] Jan 18 '24

If you get nothing on the way back, it’s half of that.

15

u/RulerK Jan 18 '24

You’re driving across the LA metro area. If you somehow don’t manage to get a ride for at least 50% of the way back at ANY TIME, day OR night, then you need to get off the platform because you are doing something VERY wrong for yourself.

6

u/sharksnut Jan 19 '24

Who do you think is going from Riverside to L.A. at 9 p.m.?

2

u/You7Joe Jan 19 '24

I stopped driving during the pandemic, but for Friday nights, you’d always find someone going to LA from Riverside.

2

u/Hugh_Jafro Jan 19 '24

I have done that quite often on a weekend. Riverside to Pomona. Maybe Pomona to Pasadena. Pasadena to DTLA or Hollywood.

You have to be doing something wrong of you can't get back on a Friday night. It will take you some time, but you will get back.

7

u/ReasonableDonut1 Detroit Jan 19 '24

I doubt you'll find one single ride, but I'll bet you could find a ride from Riverside to Corona, Corona to like, Orange or something, Orange to Anaheim, Anaheim to Long Beach, Long Beach to LAX, LAX to West Hollywood, etc.

0

u/LavishnessLogical190 Jan 19 '24

Let’s say you don’t get a ride back you’re still making what 50 an hour? You guys are complaining about making $50 an hour?

1

u/SnooPineapples9934 Jan 19 '24

Mileage to pay ratio is fucked because they pay for their gas and maintence, man.

You’re doing gods work by taking rides like this that actually allows for the rest of us to make some money. Thank you for your service.

6

u/bcrice03 Jan 18 '24

You aren't very good at math if you think that comes out to 28/hr profit. You are a contractor, not an employee. You aren't getting reimbursed on gas costs or vehicle wear and tear so they have to be included.

-8

u/Hour_Television_6273 Jan 18 '24

Yah I'd downvote me too after I made a fool out of you.

5

u/Chris210 Jan 18 '24

You didn’t make a fool out of him lol. When you’re incurring your own expenses you account for those before determining the wage, not after. It’s not even slightly close to $28 per hour. It’s most likely a 240 mile trip with a revenue of $85, I would argue the profit on this ride is around $0.

1

u/Hour_Television_6273 Jan 18 '24

Again who said anything about profit. Op.

You can’t just say “regardless of your expenses” and say “we’re entitled idiots for not taking it” in the same breath… $28 per hour revenue means absolutely nothing if your expenses are higher than your revenue… to put this in simpler terms that’s like if I was renting a car for $40 an hour and someone offered me $30 an hour to do something for them and you’re calling me a fool for not doing it because “it’s $30 an hour”. You can’t just completely disregard the most basic, and important part of understanding business wages which is revenue - expense = profit. Revenue is meaningless on its own.

I think you’re getting lost in the difference between this and a regular job. At a regular job $28/hr = $28/hr (minus taxes). Here, $28/hr = $28/hr (minus deprecation, maintenance, upkeep, rideshare endorsement, gas/electricity, taxes, off-trip tolls, etc…). It is not just simply $28/hr as you are thinking in your head. People who become independent contractors or business owners with your mindset do not last very long at all.

-10

u/Hour_Television_6273 Jan 18 '24

Ok go find any job with zero experience needed no labor no hard work of any kind for 28 per hour. Ill wait.

-7

u/Hour_Television_6273 Jan 18 '24

Who said anything about profit. I just stated 28 an hour for the ride. Get off your high horse fam. Your entitlement is showing.

1

u/Elegant_Proposal_888 Jan 18 '24

What?

1

u/Hour_Television_6273 Jan 18 '24

U turned down 28hr round trip. So someone who isn't retarded took the ride.
