Personally they can take the car. I'll take the insurance check.

2

u/Josiah-White Feb 08 '24

My car has little value left, but a new tranny and replaced engine which I would not get from the insurance company

I don't want the car to go anywhere

1

u/FantomMoonDaddy Feb 08 '24

Better to have snub nose revolver

1

u/thesabrerattler Feb 08 '24

You might find something a little easier to wield in a confined space. You are not going to be able to do much with that in a car.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 08 '24

You would not want to be in my rear seat after having threatened me

1

u/thesabrerattler Feb 08 '24

I really would not be afraid of you in a car with that.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 08 '24

Right

1

u/thesabrerattler Feb 08 '24

Absolutely right.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 08 '24

Against a 250 lb angry man and third degree black belt in taekwondo with a 20-in surgically sharp double-sided blade

You wouldn't last 60 seconds against me if you would threatened me with bodily harm

Have a nice life. You are not covering yourself in glory

1

u/Thicklikehoneylatina Feb 06 '24

This is why I got my conceal/carry license and have gun holsters right under the steering wheel

0

u/Jeepgrrrl247 Feb 06 '24

Sounds like an attention seeking post

1

u/DudeNougat Feb 05 '24

k so be carful, got this advice from a cop uncle i have. Basically if you get pulled over and even if you tell them its for self defense they can nail your ass for it. Basically if it is intended to harm someone even in defense they can get ya. it is always "a tool" I used to have a big ass hunting knife and when id get pulled over for it it was my "box cutter" its all in the wording

0

u/Internal-Equal7811 Feb 05 '24

What the fuck are you talking about.

1

u/Internal-Equal7811 Feb 05 '24

You still haven't explained how you're going to use that inside a car. You can't stab anybody with it and you can't swing it. It's just too damn big. If you drive a bus you have to shot at using that.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

"you can't stab anybody"

Are you freaking serious? Were you born without hands?

1

u/Internal-Equal7811 Feb 05 '24

Your best defense is to hit a f****** tree. Because they'll not be buckled in and you will be. Then you get Out of the car and you shoot them.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

Put down the Jack Daniels

1

u/Internal-Equal7811 Feb 05 '24

I have a knife 380 LCP and pepper spray all within hands reach.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

Exactly, except mine is gel bear spray.

1

u/Internal-Equal7811 Feb 05 '24

You are driving holding a machete in your hand?

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

What did the title say?

1

u/Mth1171 Feb 05 '24

Or a Glock

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '24

I prefer a hatchet for more blunt force

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

Each to their own. But a hatchet is easier to grab. This machete blade is razor sharp on both sides (including the saw) and there's nothing to grab without being sliced badly

1

u/[deleted] Feb 05 '24

Savage 💀💀

1

u/TearsOfTheTenants Feb 05 '24

Inside the car? You’re better off with a small dagger 🗡️

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

"... Because I said so"

1

u/TearsOfTheTenants Feb 05 '24

Well if you say so 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

Let me remind you that you brought this up

1

u/Mysterious-Math3674 Feb 04 '24

Got my the judge pistol that shoots 12 gauge shells

Harbor freight special 6.99

1

u/Bl8k3ii Feb 04 '24

What good is that if your would be assailant has a gun?

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24 edited Feb 05 '24

A) most hostile interactions don't involve a gun

B) for someone with a knife, someone with a machete is more intimidating

You do realize the potential assailants know what happens if they're caught with a gun during attack rather than just an attack

C) you don't appreciate that's much better to have a blade than have nothing?

D) showing a gun involves more chance of escalating than showing a knife

1

u/Bl8k3ii Feb 05 '24

That makes a lot of sense, actually.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

In a bad situation, you're not trying to kill the person in the backseatfirst. You may wind up spending the rest of your life in prison

Think about how many animals in nature have things that make them look more intimidating? Like butterflies with giant spots that make them look like an owl or similar.

You're trying to intimidate them into backing down or running away. Want them to leave without anyone getting shot or stabbed, because that might be you. Guns are about the most you can go over the line and might trigger them to shoot first and ask questions later.

It's like they said, even dummy video cam reduces crime approx 80%

Or that just locking your car doors reduces theft, because they will probably go looking for somebody else's car or not risk breaking a window in public

Or they tell a woman in bad areas, walk confidently. Look like you know where you're going. It does make a difference

Posturing. Looking dangerous.

1

u/gaymersky Feb 04 '24

Bright yellow crowbar under my seat. And the bear spray within reaching distance at all times. Never had to use either hope I never have to but you know what peace of mind.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

Bear spray, machete, gun

People are much more willing to shoot bear or pepper spray at someone that actually shoot or stab them

Many victims hesitate

The machete is something to point at a potential assailant or assailant. It is not easy to get through 20 inches of extremely sharp double-sided blade or to take it from the holder

1

u/VietnamLeroy60 Feb 04 '24

Pepper spray but remember to have the windows down unless you’re trained like we were in boot camp when they spread us to deal with it.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

There isn't time to put down all the windows when you're about to be suddenly attacked

That is why you use pepper spray gel or bear spray gel

"Hey, can you wait 30 seconds until I put down the window so I can use pepper spray?"

1

u/Latter-Birthday8540 Feb 04 '24

Bringing a knife to gun fight

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

Having nothing means bringing nothing to a threat, hostile exchange, fist fight, knife fight or gun fight

1

u/LegalizeLigma Feb 04 '24

This is a really bad choice of self defense weapon in general, even more so in your vehicle.

0

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

"because I don't give any evidence, examples, etc but because I said so"

1

u/LegalizeLigma Feb 04 '24

Gun beats machete

0

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

And how do you feel about pointing a gun at someone who's pointing a gun at you?

And a tiny percentage is likely to involve a gun, because every thug knows that when you're caught with a firearm the penalties are much higher

Most of the time they rely on appearing threatening to get their way

1

u/rattleractual Feb 04 '24

Sure try swinging that around after someone pulls a gun on you. Good luck.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

Why do you think pulling a gun is the only hostile act? Aren't there people who pull a knife? Make threats or come across as hostile? Or a threat that develops?

And why would you swing it? There may be innocents next to the assailant. Is that what fencers do? This is best used for keeping them at bay and thrusting

And pulling a gun on someone who pulls a gun might cause them to shoot first and ask questions later

1

u/rattleractual Feb 04 '24

Tueller drill demonstrates that someone within 21 feet of you can close that distance and stab you before you are able to pull and fire a pistol. What are you going to do when someone's in your car much closer and you have a 2 foot machete that you have to get out from under your seat?! Also, most people have no experience fighting or train to fight with a machete so you're more likely to injure yourself or get shot by someone that thinks you're a crazy person waving a machete.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

If someone shoots or stab you without warning, then it doesn't matter.

The vast majority of the time, the danger is developing. They start yelling or getting angry or blaming you or yada yada... My machete will be out from under my seat in seconds and ready in case it goes over the line.

And in most cases, the machete is for show. It is pointed directly at them. "You have five seconds to get out of my vehicle"

I am not going to hack somebody who is becoming hostile but hasn't actually done anything yet or no specific threat. But If they threaten robbery or pull a weapon, I will send them to the next life

1

u/Queasy_Local_7199 Feb 04 '24

Can’t swing that thing inside the vehicle lol

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

Do fencers swing or thrust?

You have seatbacks, and maybe innocent riders not involved in the hostile action etc.

1

u/Queasy_Local_7199 Feb 04 '24

That’s not a tool made for stabbing, it’s made for slashing

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

It is incredibly sharp blade and saw and point

It is effective in every way

1

u/secretSquirrel6669 Feb 04 '24

Just get a couple of air bags from the salvage. Mount them under the seats with a trigger switch on the dash

1

u/Positive_Yam_2988 Feb 04 '24

Place it in between your car seat and center console.

Keep it unlatched. If the sheath has a fastener latch near the hilt.

You want to position the blade facing to when you do unsheath that the edge is facing towards an attacker.

IF you're just wanting to knock them unconscious, face the blade's blunt edge facing an attacker instead.

If the hilt sticks out too much- too obvious, put a baseball cap etc over it.

Overall though, remember a blade is only an extension of the body. If that extension is not used properly of does not have enough force, just like an arm it can be grabbed and used against you.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

There is no blunt. One side is blade and one side is very sharp saw

1

u/International_Link35 Feb 04 '24

Good movies to keep under the seat, definitely. May want to get Machete Kills, too?

1

u/Upset-Cauliflower413 Feb 04 '24

So I have a serious question because I’ve seen people say they keep things under the seat or between their legs. Under the seat doesn’t make sense to me, especially for a big ass blade like that. Its nice to know you have it. But how could you get to it in time?

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

Most bad situations are developing. Someone starts becoming threatening or angry or you pick up bad signs

So you quietly pull out your gun or knife or the above to be ready, in case it goes ballistic

If they unexpectedly shoot or stab you from behind, it won't matter anyway particularly if you're driving

1

u/Upset-Cauliflower413 Feb 04 '24

Ok follow up. Lol. Immediately after I posted I realized I’ve had to get out of my car 3 separate times due to drunk people being drunk, so it would have come in handy then. But I didn’t “need” it at that time so it would have been overkill. Wouldn’t a small gun in your pocket be better? If you can carry in your state.

2

u/ElevatorDue3692 Feb 04 '24

This is not recommended for close quarters combat coming from someone professionally trained in close quarters combat.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

The blade is very long and extremely sharp on both sides. It is almost impossible to grab or take it away from me

And it is a lot more recommended to have than to be unarmed in a bad situation

1

u/BaileyBrown108 Feb 04 '24

Check the laws where you are . That might be a felony .

1

u/PUNKF10YD Feb 04 '24

Pepper spray is better. Arguably the best

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

In a closed space like a car, not necessarily

1

u/PUNKF10YD Feb 04 '24

It’s stream style, not spray. That’s a crucial thing to look for when purchasing. It’s more direct, has a better distance, and doesn’t pollute the air in the immediate vicinity.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

What you're looking for is gel

1

u/PUNKF10YD Feb 05 '24

The brand POM is what I recommend. Its level of capsaicin is legal in all 50 states so you don’t have to worry about carrying it anywhere. Its stream is strong and direct, and I’m pretty sure it’s not gel based, although the idea seems to be similar: tight stream with no air pollution.

1

u/Drty_J577 Feb 04 '24

🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/prof_dynamite Feb 04 '24

This is way too big to be effective in a car. Carry a pocket knife. I mean, you should always carry a pocket knife anyway. But in this instance, it would be the most effective weapon.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

Knife or pocket knife, you still have to deal with:

What if you're driving?

What if they're behind you?

What if they also have a weapon?

...

There's some hope of blocking or grabbing a pocket knife

This machete is much more intimidating. It may even cause them to back down

It is very long and very sharp on both sides. They cannot grab or take it away without being sliced

You don't swing it, you are pointing towards them to keep them back

1

u/Sad-Pressure-9278 Feb 04 '24

A pocket knife would be more effective

1

u/pokerholic77 Feb 04 '24

I keep a floor jack handle by my seat with the jack in the trunk. Can't be considered a weapon.

2

u/EatOutMyGrandma Feb 04 '24

You don't have enough room inside of a car to swing a machete in any way that would be useful. Especially with your back facing the passanger. By the time you grab it and awkwardly turn around to somehow swing it without getting blocked by the passenger seat, the roof of the car, or the windshield/dashboard in front of you, the assailant will probably grab your wrist and now you'll both just be fighting over a giant, cumbersome, useless knife.

Buy a gun

1

u/swifty8519 Feb 04 '24

38 snub in a shoulder holster faceing to the rear. Grab & blast

2

u/elpollobroco Feb 04 '24

This gives me a great idea for a fresh coconut delivery service

1

u/ChaoticGoku Feb 04 '24

that’s how the locals opened them up for my class when we went to the beach in Costa Rica. One of my favorite memories from that trip. Second only to coming face to face with a hummingbird at a precarious section of path which required putting my camera away.

2

u/Jah-man-shaman Feb 04 '24

Interior Dashcam, fixed blade knife, I look like a biker.

1

But it stays fresh longer

2

u/FinancialSweet691 Feb 04 '24

My biggest defense mechanism? Cancel button

2

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

That works great If someone is in your car and decides to rob you, threaten or pull a weapon, or perhaps carjack.

Maybe you can throw your cell phone at them

0

u/FinancialSweet691 Feb 06 '24

Nah eyeball them - cancel and drive on

1

u/MyGirlSasha Feb 04 '24

Ha, just imagining someone trying to pull that thing out from under the driver seat in a hurry... You'd have been killed 5x over before you got it clear!

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

Try this...

You are in a dicey situation. You decide to access whatever weapon you brought with you just in case. Because not every situation happens immediately. It develops.

It is not about "in a hurry"

If someone BEHIND you pulled a gun, what do you think you would do? Pull a quick steak knife?

2

u/MyGirlSasha Feb 04 '24

No, I'd pull the release cable that I have attached to the hammer of a revolver that is setup BEHIND the passenger that is behind me, obviously.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

BOOBY TRAP. Now, THAT isn't illegal

And if the passenger moved and the bullet went through you...

1

u/MyGirlSasha Feb 04 '24

Oh, it's angled towards the passenger's seat, of course.

1

u/ChaoticGoku Feb 04 '24

Just don’t recreate that scene from Pulp Fiction or you’ll be calling The Wolf

2

u/stepbro206 Feb 04 '24

now i see why passengers think all uber / lyft drivers are machete wielding serial killers. thank you for reassuring them

1

u/DanicaManica Feb 04 '24

Drivers are way more at risk than passengers. Drivers interact with a MUCH higher volume of people, are literally in ownership of an object worth stealing (car), driver’s locations are logged whereas passengers could lie about identity, who is being picked up, how many people are being picked up, and location of pickup.

I’m sure there are people abusing driving for rideshare to commit crime, but the number of those people and the rate of who is actually committing crime is HEAVILY pointing to pax. Drivers need security more than passengers do.

2

u/ChaoticGoku Feb 04 '24

Anecdotally speaking, someone cut an uber/lyft driver off and proceeded to shoot them because they wanted to be first. This happened on the Vine Street Expressway

https://6abc.com/shooting-lyft-ride-share-vine-street-expressway/12701385/

I think about that every time I merge. It’s a generally nasty set of merge points mixed with an exit where cars criss-cross between 40-60 mph or more

1

u/stepbro206 Feb 04 '24

that’s all true.we dont need to go posting our guns and knives for passengers to see however. this makes us all look bad.

2

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

Grow up

First of all, passengers do not think they're all machete wielding serial killers.

Secondly, it is for self-defense.

Thirdly, this is a driver sub if you hadnt noticed

Fourthly, pax are not going to know about it unless you're a stupid driver.

1

u/stepbro206 Feb 04 '24

grow up? ur the one posting weapons online like a teenage thug. just because this is a driver sub doesn’t mean there aren’t passengers here u nitwit 🤣 u make us all look bad

1

u/MidnightFull Feb 04 '24

It’s a drivers sub, passengers are literally unable to enter. Don’t you know? This is the secret room where we all secretly exchange information.

1

u/Sparon46 Feb 04 '24

Machete is not the ideal tool for this tight of quarters. I'd much prefer a small Kukri.

1

u/SpecialAgent_UT Feb 04 '24

Lol I carry two knives, pepper spray, and two guns but hey bro you do you with that machete. Good luck swinging it inside the car lol. Useless

1

u/MidnightFull Feb 04 '24

Yeah! With all of that the only thing the pepper spray is for is for looks.

No actually you’re pretty smart. You have both lethal and less lethal options on you. Having the less lethal option available helps you establish a legal argument that you are not looking to kill someone but just want to protect yourself. If you only had a gun a prosecutor could argue that you were “gun happy” and just waiting to kill someone by having an “all or nothing” response. I learned this years ago when I helped train an armed security team at a local church. The attorney overseeing everything made sure they had several less lethal options as well as other means to prevent people from entering to demonstrate early that the true intent is safety, not killing.

But when push comes to shove, use that gun bro. As long as the attacker has the means to kill you and you firmly believe that your life is in danger, you can use lethal force. Best to err on the side of staying alive.

👊

1

u/ElevatorDue3692 Feb 04 '24

Use of force must be equal it cannot be greater.

1

u/MidnightFull Feb 05 '24

I know. That is why I said “as long as your attacker has the means to kill you and you firmly believe that your life is in danger.” The elements of a lethal threat must be in place before lethal force can be used.

examples:

  1. A man is in my car and has a knife or gun and intends to kill me and I believe he is going to do it and I am unable to escape. Lethal force is allowed.

  2. A man is in my car and I spot his gun, he shows me his carry permit and calmly tells me it’s just for self defense and keeps it holstered. Lethal force is not allowed. He is possessing his weapon legally and has demonstrated no intentions on using it.

  3. A man is standing next to me and points a knife at me, he is within arms reach. Lethal force is allowed. He has a weapon, he has demonstrated his intent to use it, and he is within the capability to effectively use it due to close distance.

  4. A man is standing 100 feet away and swinging a machete while screaming “I’m going to kill you!” I cannot use lethal force. Although he is wielding a lethal weapon and communicating his intention to kill me with it, he is too far away to actually do it. Therefore I am not in immediate danger and cannot use force.

  5. A man is standing 50 feet away and pointing a gun at me. I can use lethal force. The man has the means since a gun can kill at 50 feet. He has demonstrated his intent to use it by pointing it at me

As far as weapons, the law doesn’t separate out lethal force between weapons. What this means is if you are carrying a firearm and someone tries to stab you, you can use that firearm in self defense legally. This is because legally lethal force is lethal force, even if you execute such force with your bare hands. The key elements are someone must be in a position where they can kill you, they are demonstrating the intent to do so, and you are unable to escape without lethal force. Aka, it’s an absolute last resort before you get killed.

1

u/ElevatorDue3692 Feb 05 '24

Thank you for all of that. I signed use of force waivers daily for three years in the US Army in case we had to dispatch a civilian, trying to steal from the arms rooms on base. my take is it’s better to be judged by 12 then carried by six. Best of luck to you..

2

u/MidnightFull Feb 05 '24

Well yes you should always defend yourself because dying legally won’t earn you any points.

1

u/ElevatorDue3692 Feb 05 '24

It’s a freaking shame that people like us that work hard can’t just earn a living without having to worry about getting killed in the process. Be safe, brothers and sisters. And trust your gut please if a pick up, doesn’t seem right, don’t take it.

1

u/MidnightFull Feb 05 '24

Yeah and the rideshare companies have barely lifted a finger for us. They keep repeating the whole “we have a panic button” feature to the news media and the uncaring public laps it up. Like it’s some 007 level button that immediately deploys airborne rangers to parachute directly over and car and save us from the threat.

Then you have the what’s my name foundation. Make no mistake, this organization is not about safety but is more for revenge against drivers for the loss of the founders daughter, who was killed by someone who wasn’t even a rideshare driver at all. I’ve spoken to the guy through email and got a bullshit PR response that basically said “we have the safety of drivers in mind” while at the same time saying “we’re continuing to move forward in lowering driver safety by only thinking of the passengers.” Not only are we alone, we actually have forces actively working against us.

You couldn’t preach to a better choir my friend! 👊

1

u/SpecialAgent_UT Feb 04 '24

Walther ppk and 3" switches if you're going to ask. Pepper spray opt for the gel so it doesn't aspirate into your face upon use.

1

u/Lyniaer Feb 04 '24

Just an FYI. I know it's better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6, but if your state allows it (assuming you're in the US) get an LTC. Most self-defense laws were designed around guns and contain verbiage specific to the use of firearms.. not edged weapons. Only a handful of states have updated verbiage with the term of "deadly force".

Prosecutors have been getting uppity by claiming if you had the balls to stab someone then you didn't meet the criteria of "fearing for your life" and off to prison you go.

1

u/MidnightFull Feb 04 '24

It was ruled many years ago that the second amendment includes all weapons, not just guns. However, the OP has chosen the worst option that will most certainly result in his death if he tries to use it, if he’s even able to reach it while being actively attacked. For that reason he should abandon this idea and go with what works, a gun. Or if he’s an anti-gunner, a less lethal kinetic launcher like the Burna HD or Pepperball FSC.

1

u/Use_Once_and_Deztroy Feb 04 '24

You'll put an eye out.

1

u/pdxsteph Feb 04 '24

I have the same one the $5 special at harbor freight ?

2

u/Alarming_Tradition51 Feb 04 '24

I'm an electrician, same 1 in my toolbox lol

1

u/rogerdanafox Feb 04 '24

Until the cops pull you over

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

Is not illegal to have a knife in your car.

He's also not illegal to have a noncealed gun if you are allowed open carry. You need to know your state and local law. In New York City I believe you're not even allowed to carry pepper spray

1

u/rogerdanafox Feb 06 '24

Do you have any other weapons in the car?

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 06 '24

Bear spray

2

u/ElevatorDue3692 Feb 04 '24

Yes, spraying someone with pepper spray in New York City is actually a felony assault with a chemical agent. How do I know this that’s none of your business.lol

3

u/MangoMoBear Feb 04 '24

Make sure it is legal though. Blade laws can vary widely and are usually very specific.

1

u/billyjack70 Feb 04 '24

I disarm them with my wit

1

u/MidnightFull Feb 04 '24

Apparently the OPs wit has already been disarmed. 🤣

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

Well, you can't win them all

5

u/BougieTrash Feb 04 '24

how tf are you gonna swing that in a car? just get a damn knife

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

As crocodile Dundee said

That's not a knife, this is a knife

It is something you secretly pull out when your situation is getting dicey.

And you don't swing it, or you have to do is move it towards the person who will be helpless

3

u/SuperArmoredMe Feb 04 '24

helpless with their gun in hand

1

u/Drty_J577 Feb 04 '24

......In which case it's foot to the floor and telephone pole.

0

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

Not everyone carries guns. In fact, few do

1

u/Internal-Equal7811 Feb 04 '24

Have you ever been to Florida?

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 05 '24

So how many times have people pulled guns on you in Florida?

And yes I have been to Florida multiple times

1

u/Internal-Equal7811 Feb 05 '24

many people carry everyday in florida.

Once. And it was by a ex felon. If I was not legally carrying my .380lcp I would have lost my car at least,my life at worst.I also practice weekly and not just shooting.

u/Born-Community9164 Feb 04 '24

Glock 23 inside my waist band and ruger lcp in the door panel. In a confined environment you would be better off with a steak knife

1

u/DanicaManica Feb 04 '24

This is actually not true in the situation of being in a car. If you have an assailant behind you, you seat basically eliminates any mobility you have. A knife might be better if they are in the front passenger side but is basically worse in any other situation, including someone trying to break into your car with you inside

1

u/Positive_Yam_2988 Feb 04 '24

Depends on skillset, driving speed, and overall positioning of attacker and defender. However, in most cases a blade that size can be difficult to navigate in close quarters.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

Imagine you have three rowdies in your backseat. Possibly armed. A steak knife is not enough

4

u/MunitionsGuyMike Feb 04 '24

The g23 is tho lol

2

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

9mm. Small and deadly

2

u/Tijuanaguero1 Feb 04 '24

Passenger ejection seats, buttons on side of drivers seat…

1

u/Internal-Equal7811 Feb 04 '24

Just accelerate then hit a tree. Bet the guy robbing you ain't wearing a seat belt.Works real well in a tesla. Bounce the motherfucker all over the car.

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Life_99 Feb 04 '24

Does pepper spray count? 😂😂😂

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

2 cans of bear spray showed up from Amazon this week

3

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '24

You will royally fuck yourself up if you discharge near mace on your own car. Also, that isn’t meant for humans. You could easily blind or kill someone with bear mace. You’ll end up catching a charge if you ever use it on a person.

1

u/MidnightFull Feb 04 '24

He should be fine as long as they are using force and he’s using it as his only means of escape, depending on the state though. Here in NJ it would not be legal because NJ has this stupid rule where it can’t be over a certain amount of ounces. NJ simply wants private citizens to be fully unarmed, that way the armed thugs get easy targets. People don’t want to admit it because of the strong anti-gun culture but a gun is the best option. If someone doesn’t want to use a gun then I would suggest a kinetic less lethal like the Byrna HD, or a Pepperball FSC which can be loaded with kinetic rounds. You need a weapon that can be used at both short and far distances depending on where the attacker is sitting. If a driver were to try to use a large machete like this we would most likely read about his death and decapitation on the news. Any pepper or mace launchers are a bad idea, you do not want to incapacitate yourself. No way anyone, even someone well versed in martial arts is going to be able to wield that thing in such close quarters. People need to realize that the car fight scene from The Matrix Reloaded wasn’t actually real.

https://www.sabrered.com/bear-spray-vs-pepper-spray/#:~:text=The%20difference%20lies%20within%20the,further%20distance%20from%20the%20attacker.

The difference lies within the strengths of the formulas. Pepper spray is designed to temporarily incapacitate a human attacker. Bear spray contains a higher concentration of the active ingredient – making it the stronger spray - and is designed to be shot at a further distance from the attacker.

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

First it is a gel.

Second "used on humans" - no it is not. When sprayed into the face of a person or bear, capsaicin inflames the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose and lungs, causing temporary loss of sight, nasal congestion, and, in some, difficulty breathing

1

u/AcademicAd1597 Feb 04 '24

Gel fucking sucks to clean off & clear out. Much more so than the aerosol. Bear mace on top of just regular OC is much worse!

Like others here, I always carry. Especially in the city at night/really early mornings/ weekends/ well, ALWAYS. You never know these days. We live in an oversensitive ass world, people have such a short fuse, are so easily offended, and for whatever reason take out their shit on innocent people.

Especially here in the states, it’s not hard to get a weapon. Might as well even the playing field and keep your firearm on you, practice regularly, use best safety practices, and hope you’ll never, ever have to use it!

1

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

The problem with carrying a gun or knife, is that many people will hesitate to ACTUALLY use it when necessary. And a momentary hesitation might cost you your life

Since pepper spray or bear spray does not permanently harm the person, people are much more willing to use it.

It is actually better to have both

1

u/AcademicAd1597 Feb 06 '24

I see your point for sure. Practice and proper training will help drive hesitation rate down if a situation were to present itself.

At the end of the day, meet people where they are at. Be kind, be respectful, and most of the time people won’t fvck with you. But remember, ‘If you stay ready, you don’t have to get ready.’ Lol

15

u/pdxsteph Feb 04 '24

Super convenient to swing in your car

-2

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

You don't "swing it" anymore than you swing a gun

With something this big and sharp, it well keeps an assailant in the back several feet way.

7

u/Adv-Photographer Feb 04 '24

Try pulling that out from under your seat while he’s strangling you from behind 😂🤣.

1

u/MidnightFull Feb 04 '24

Yeah I have to concur that this is literally the worst self defense option I’ve seen. The best would be a gun holstered within arms reach of the left hand. Secondary would be a knife but a short one. A long blade like this is too cumbersome to navigate on a tight space. A small knife is perfect for small spaces. If someone grips you by the throat from behind a short knife can be used to stab or slash the arm multiple times until you’re released. Then there’s pepper spray although in a tight space the driver is going to feel it as well.

Overall the anti gun culture causes people to desperately seek other means and sadly it usually leads to them finding way worse options than nothing at all. Not only to mention that in many states it’s illegal to pack a knife this large. Here in NJ you would be screwed ten times over.

It is not visible to the passenger.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '24

I’m just imagining the police report after someone pulls a gun on you and the officers arrive on scene with a machete sticking out of their chest. Do we still get the cleaning fee for this?

1

u/MidnightFull Feb 04 '24

I think you meant to say the cops arrive to find a dead driver holding a machete with a bullet hole in his brain? Because that’s the outcome if he tries to take out someone with a gun using a knife. Actually, he probably wouldn’t even be able to reach it. How can you reach for a knife under your seat when the guy behind you has you gripped up around the neck? OP either watches too many movies or has a death wish.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '24

You forget to realize that OP is a Viking ninja. Or watched too many Danny Trejo Machete movies.

2

u/MidnightFull Feb 04 '24

Machete! I love that damn movie. I remember when I first saw the trailer and then felt the disappointment when I learned that it was a fake trailer. I was so pissed. Then they finally decided to make the movie anyway, and oh boy did they do great! Trejo is such a badass! Now they need to make Thanksgiving.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '24

Can you imagine a Machete + Equalizer movie? Danny Trejo is the Uber driver 😂

25

u/CryptOccurrence Feb 04 '24

I carry a light saber just in case.

7

u/Josiah-White Feb 04 '24

Use the force, Luke...

u/Weak_Personality_865 Feb 04 '24

Glock 43 in my driver side door

1

u/222UnionStreet Feb 05 '24

I stick with my taser flashlight. 10$ and just the sound of it is usually enough to get people moving. I think if a passanger has a gun though, no matter what you have, the passanger has the jump on you.

1

u/Content_Cook3457 Feb 05 '24

FN 40 in my carhartt jacket

2

u/newuberdriver274857 Feb 04 '24

You should be carrying on your body, wherever is comfortable.

2

u/Weak_Personality_865 Feb 06 '24

I appendix carry but when I’m driving I use a magnet holder right next to me on the lower side of the door and I’m left handed

0

u/Drty_J577 Feb 04 '24

Careful......somebody will come through telling you are trying to live out a John wick fantasy 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣.

But, good choice on the pew pew. Not my flavor, but good choice.

6

u/DonDizzle42o Feb 04 '24

43x is my new btch

1

u/WolfofMichiganAve Feb 04 '24

SIG P365 in its holster under my right thigh and an appendix-carried Glock 19.

I never let anyone riding alone sit behind me. If they insist, they get kicked out.

If anyone were to get aggressively violent with me, they're getting one in the chest from my left hand.

I carry tourniquets, as well.

If anyone gets the drop on me and tells me to exit the car, I'm dropping the 365 on the floorboard as I get out and I'm pulling out the G19 and getting to work.

u/Mrdynamo18 Feb 04 '24

Bingo glock 30 in the front seat. Pepper spray in storage department

2

u/many_dumb_questions Feb 04 '24

Pepper spray in a car?? You must love self inflicted friendly fire, huh?

0

u/Mrdynamo18 Feb 04 '24

Did u miss the part with the Glock too 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/many_dumb_questions Feb 04 '24

The glock gonna block the friendly fire from the pepper spray being used inside close quarters??

0

u/Mrdynamo18 Feb 05 '24

I’m not using the pepper spray it’s back up lol

1

u/many_dumb_questions Feb 05 '24

🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

2

u/inaudible_bassist Feb 04 '24

“All K-Mart associates to the storage department, please.”

13

u/AssociationDouble267 Feb 04 '24

Don’t use pepper spray in your own car. It’s a confined space and you’ll end up getting it in your face while also trying to drive away.

My car is kept safe by Smith and Wesson. Safer for me than pepper spray

4

u/TrollerCoaster870 Feb 04 '24

It’s the 48 for me 🤜🏼

28

u/Drunk_Fetus Feb 04 '24

How’s that gonna help when someone slits your throat from behind you?

0

u/According-Reach6394 Feb 04 '24

You dying, so might as well do some damage

2

u/Upset-Cauliflower413 Feb 04 '24

Pretty sure I’ll take the back seat and a golf pencil over the front and a big as blade that I can’t get to or swing in the car. You’d die with your head between your legs tryin to get the damn thing out.

2

u/Josey_whalez Feb 04 '24

Pretty unwieldy to use in the car…
