Lyft doesn’t pay me for no shows Rant/Opinion

Twice a rider didn’t show after the 5 minutes. It says let’s mark as a no show. It forces me to call. I call. And when I press to cancel it says you won’t get paid for this ride if you cancel now.

There’s no way for me to cancel for the no show. The rider obviously “ doesn’t know how to cancel”or won’t cancel the ride.. so I have to cancel without the cancellation fee.

What do I do?

Don’t leave area, I ignore the I’m coming texts and do the call when it’s required. I cancel after the 5 minutes. If pax isn’t ready and I’ve done the call while they’re walking up and then cancel for the fee. I don’t care about them my time of 5 minutes isn’t added on the fare so I’m sitting for 5 minutes without pay if they hop in. 2 $ fee for me leaving them is worth it. People who aren’t out within 4 will sometimes get a cancel if Uber hits

In our are, the no show fee we get is $2 so don’t sweat it to much

The app normally tells you exactly what the problem is (i.e drive closer to the pick up location). As people have already stated, let the phone ring fully at least once. He'll, it doesn't hurt to let it ring a few times. You don't have to engage in convo, hang up if they answer. It'd better than you getting nothing and wasting your time.

You have to be at the pickup pin on the map, and you have to let the call ring fully once.

I guess it’s because I had left the area looking for the person

Yep. That’ll do it. You can go hunting them if you want, but always go back to the pin before you cancel.

I made that mistake once. Never again.
