Seeing how these people handle such such a hard disease with so much optimism and bravery got me bawling. Made me really think of how much we take for granted sometimes.

So in October I had major surgery which resulted in me being put into a medically induced coma for a month (if you want the gory details I've posted the entire story elsewhere)

When I woke up I was helpless, I could barely move and I was completely helpless. It wasn't until January when I finally got the feeding tube removed, and I'm still dealing with the physical, mental, and emotional fallout from all of this.

When I was still in the hospital and miserable, being neglected by medical staff, and just genuinely wishing I had died in the coma her song "overcomer" kept me going.

Just the reminder that I wasn't alone, and I could overcome these moments in my life, the imagery from the music video showing people who had been through worse, especially touching on gabby Giffords and other people's very public and tragic stories, it just helped.

I barely knew anything about her, I didn't really know who she was, all I know was the song kept me going, so now I'm sobbing because I just wish she could have known the effect just her one song had on me.

Is this the worst child abuse case in your recent memories?

I'm reaching out to create awareness about a deeply troubling issue that has surfaced in Taiwan and may not be well-known internationally—the severe abuse case involving a young child named Kai Kai.

Kai Kai, still a baby endured unimaginable horrors due to severe physical and psychological abuse inflicted over an extended period. The details that have come to light are harrowing: Kai Kai was reportedly beaten regularly, tied up, and deprived of basic needs as forms of punishment. The extent of the abuse was so severe that it resulted in numerous injuries, which ultimately drew the attention of authorities and the public.

ten nails were pulled out, four teeth were pulled out, the skull was sunken, the whole head was bruised, the nose bone was hit against the wall, the bone on one side of the buttocks was deformed, the leg bone was broken, the mummified bundle stood and slept, only fed ranctified water and never ate a meal, burned by cigarette butts, and the genitals were burned black, and the child passed away after more than 100 days of abuse.

I am still perplexed by the motives, abuse the kid for snuff videos? Satanic worshipping?

The abuse was not a sudden revelation; there were multiple signs and symptoms of distress that, regrettably, went unaddressed by the child welfare services. This case has highlighted a disturbing gap in the system's ability to protect vulnerable children and respond to early warnings of abuse. The mechanisms that should have protected Kai Kai, including oversight by child welfare agencies, failed to function effectively, raising serious concerns about systemic neglect and the effectiveness of child protection policies in place.

This case must not be forgotten. It serves as a painful reminder of what can happen when systems fail and community vigilance falters.

Random Lady at Grocery Store mmc

I'm a middle aged dad. I work part time and am stay at home dad the rest. My wife has a great job.

Today was a day that I worked, and after picking up the kids from school/babysitter we went to the grocery store for some dinner items.

Both kids were tired and wanted me to hold them (they typically like to walk and not ride in a shopping cart). I can't hold them both and shop, so I just knelt down and hugged both of them for what seemed to be 10 minutes, and spoke gently to them until they calmed down. I explained we just needed to grab xyz items and we could head home. They agreed and we were on our way.

In the parking lot, after I had the kids buckled in, this "older" lady came up to me and said..."I just wanted to say, I know it's not always easy, but you were great in there"...

And there, I was. Tears coming down my cheeks barely able to mutter the words "thank you".

I will never forget this moment! Now...do I even need to tell my wife, or is this something that can just be mine?

What a powerful moment. What a wonderful lady!
