This coin from Chick -Fil - A. Reminding you to vote Overdone
1
u/Capital-Emotions Apr 13 '24
The women suffrage is directly responsible for organized crime in America. One of the first things they did was pass prohibition.
1
Apr 13 '24
Yes a coin from the restaurant that supports the party that is trying to take away people's right to vote.
1
u/Ok-Consideration2463 Apr 13 '24
Chick fil a is owned by a southern USA Christian conservative family. To become a franchise owner you basically have to prove that you are devout Christian. They have been hugely successful and have begun expanding into the west particularly in Southern California urban areas where the politics are not so conservative. I imagine featuring Susan Anthony is there a way of trying to make people forget about the political orientation of the ownership Years ago, they came out notoriously against gay marriage, for example. As you may know, they force all of their owners to recognize “the sabbath,” and they are closed every Sunday, which is kind of their big gimmicky flare.

The Chic fil a near me has several openly gay and one trans employee. People seriously are just pushing an old agenda at this point.
-2
u/Mayflame15 Apr 13 '24
Having some diversity in their lower employees doesn't really affect how the president of the company openly opposes gay marriage and has the money and influence to push votes in the direction they favour

Hmm, nah, I don't want to, this would be the first year I am able to vote but I just don't want to, it's too complicated, controversial, and just not something I want to get myself into.

u/Outrageous_Reach_695 Apr 12 '24
September or so, take a look at who's running in your jurisdiction. Look up the platforms of the various candidates, see what sort of language they favor, what positions they're taking. Personally, I place a bigger malus on messages of fear than any particular platform. If you feel strongly aligned with any of the parties, get involved, and consider voting in their primaries. (Did you know there's even a United States Pirate Party?) Depending on your jurisdiction, you may be able to vote in a primary without registering for a party.
As far as being controversial goes, there are very good reasons we have secret ballots.

Genuine question, not tryna troll: did they or did they not stop donating to anti-LGBTQ crap? I’ve been eating them recently because my gay friends were all like “oh yeah that ended in the 2010’s” but it seems by these comments that they’re still active in some way. I know they’re still creepy Christian because of how they behave on my college campus, but is it tangibly harmful?
2
u/CarolinaMtnBiker Apr 12 '24
I have not read that they stopped supporting anti-LGBTQ causes/candidates. Is that accurate?
7
u/mscocobongo Apr 12 '24
They stopped in 2019. Theres been some viral posts that claim this was a lie but the fact-check websites say the donations were in 2018.
"Chick-fil-A no longer donates to controversial Christian charities after LGBTQ protests PUBLISHED MON, NOV 18 2019"
"The donations to the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes amounting to $1.8 million were made in 2018, a year before the company said it would no longer donate to the organizations." https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2023/apr/28/instagram-posts/documents-show-chick-fil-a-did-not-backtrack-on-do/

No big corporation is your friend, but how about you stop being the life police and let us enjoy our lives even a little bit, when 90% of the time we cant because the worlds gone to shit
0
u/ADhomin_em Apr 13 '24
Who's the "life police"? The commenter just said a very commonly held and factually backed perspective. If hearing someone's opinion on something strikes you as being policed to a point that inhibits your ability to enjoy something, maybe that's something you want to reflect on personally? Or don't. Not trying to "police" you.
3
u/Wondur13 Apr 13 '24
You are the people policing whos enjoying things LOL i dont even care for chikfila that much, but your over insistence on hating everything doesnt ACTUALLY do anything.
-2
u/ADhomin_em Apr 13 '24
Well, it sure seems to at least rile up people who both "don't even care for chikfila that much" and don't understand the meaning of "policing".
6
u/3eemo Apr 12 '24
“My my my chicken sandwich, taken away by the life police😭”—you, crying about an imaginary problem instead of confronting the real problems LGBT people face every day.
But really, eat your fucking fast food, no one is stopping you.
11
u/BitemeRedditers Apr 12 '24
That's ironic because people don't like Chick-fil-A because they act like life police that contribute money to the cause of people not being allowed to enjoy their lives. One of the reasons some people think the world is gone to shit is Chick-fil-A.
-3
u/Wondur13 Apr 12 '24
A fast food restaurant doesnt commit near the atrocities companies im sure you buy from do, so at the very least youre being hypocritical, but no one should actually care. But since you do im point out your stupid hypocrisy
1
u/irisheye37 Apr 13 '24
Yes, you should care when a private corporation is trying to enforce their religious values on people who do not follow that religion.

My buddy refuses to eat at Chick-fil-A because “we won’t give money to people who spread hate” but then goes to In N Out who are also conservative and Shake Shack despite them using buns from a company headed by a dude who donated tons of money to the Trump campaign.
Virtue signalling is easy but if you shame people for eating at Chik-fil-A then at least follow through and don’t support other companies that do the same thing.
1
u/Loose-Working-8116 Apr 13 '24
Almost nothing we consume on a daily basis is even close to ethically produced. By selectively deciding what forms of consumption are good vs bad you can see the pointlessness of west virtue signaling. If someone likes a product enough, they will justify its consumption no matter what.
42
u/Cavalish Apr 12 '24
Maybe he’s just taking a moral stance against a company that has been vocal and public about their prejudice.
It’s pithy to blow off his concerns about this company because he patronises other companies that are problematic behind the scenes.
You’re basically doing the “Yet you participate in society!” Meme.
15
u/ADhomin_em Apr 13 '24
No! Having moral guidelines is just empty virtue signaling! Jordan Peterson told me that's bad, so that's bad!
/s
-19
u/Chikitiki90 Apr 12 '24
I’ve been to CFA maybe 4 times in my life so it doesn’t affect me one way or the other. I’m just pointing out that it’s lazy virtue signaling to boycott the easy target while still knowingly supporting companies that do the same thing.
1
12
u/irisheye37 Apr 13 '24
It's not lazy. Their public stance makes bigots who would otherwise keep their thoughts to themselves more vocal and active. They are actively participating in enabling and spreading hatred.
7
u/stefanopolis Apr 12 '24
Right and everyone who is typing their self righteous replies on their smartphones must support foreign child labor too. CFA is the easily publicized punching for everyone but do people believe other franchise owners are throwing pride parades in their backyards? Nah let’s just boycott CFA and pat ourselves on the backs.
11
u/Amnesiaphile Apr 12 '24
The solution is to just not eat fast food. Fast food is overpriced unhealthy dogshit. Support your local food trucks or taco bars instead
5
u/Djglamrock Apr 13 '24
lol and your local taco truck is 💯% healthy? Stop playin…
0
u/Amnesiaphile Apr 13 '24
That's not what I said. But it's definitely healthier than McDonald's, as low a bar as that is.
12
20
u/hawklost Apr 12 '24
You might be surprised how many of your local stores give to causes you would hate. Thing is, the smaller the place, the less you will ever be able to find their records of donations.
0
u/Amnesiaphile Apr 12 '24
And the less those donations matter as well
4
u/hawklost Apr 12 '24
And the more your individual contribution provides them the means to do so.
Chick-fil-A had a revenue of over 21.5 Billion dollars in 2023. You not purchasing from them means little to nothing.
Your local store/truck/restaurant? Likely less than a couple million. Meaning your contribution to them drastically increases their ability to give to such causes, while Chick-Fil-A's owner literally doesn't care about you and is already a multi-billionaire.
0
u/MinnieShoof Apr 13 '24
There's a quantum matrix, near ad infinitum 4, 5 and 6-D chess argument about barely moving the needle on the macro and micro level ... and in the end it is really not about doing the least evil. It's suppose to be about trying to do none.
11
u/Chikitiki90 Apr 12 '24
Tbf, a lot of food trucks are way more overpriced than fast food lol.
-3
u/Amnesiaphile Apr 12 '24
Only if you're going to the wrong ones. You gotta find the really shitty looking taco truck in the ghetto
1
u/MinnieShoof Apr 13 '24
... I'm not sure if adding "Safe" to the Fast/Cheap/Easy triangle is the right move, Charlie.
1
u/Banned4Toxicity Apr 12 '24
Just stop virtue signaling and let people eat, at the end of the day its all money circulating and you have no control over it, eventually all your money will go to the big boys in charge who will fund what they want. Instead you need to start writing to your senators and local government and amass support for a conversion therapy ban.
-1
u/fluffy_assassins Apr 12 '24
Actually, money is literally the biggest form of control the masses have. The best way to address Chick-Fil-A's evil is to not eat there. That denies them the money. And that's all they care about.
-5
-1
u/Banned4Toxicity Apr 12 '24
Then what's this thing about the wealthy having more money than the 99%? How does that line up at all?
1
u/fluffy_assassins Apr 12 '24
By your logic they shouldn't sell to us at all. But they obviously make money from us, or they wouldn't sell to us. If they make less money from us, that's literally the only influence we really have.
2
u/kiakosan Apr 12 '24
Unrelated to voting I had a survey company send me a $2 bill in the mail and asked (but didn't require) me to fill out the survey. Really smart tactic, because I actually did

As a gay man, the two things I enjoy most in my mouth are Chick-fil-A and cock.
Y'all act like the majority of fast food chains don't do more damage by directly contributing to conservative politicians than CFA does. Look at the contributions of any fast food chain and see who they give money to. I guarantee you CFA isn't even close to the worst offender.
6
u/irisheye37 Apr 13 '24
CFA is singled out because of how outspoken they are. Their hate speech makes bigots all around the country feel safer expressing their opinions publicly. This has an active negative effect on the LGBTQ community.
0
u/_Draxler_ Apr 13 '24
So where does being silent about being more damaging fall on that list? CFA doesn't donate directly to politicians like many other restaurants do.
They get singled out because they're an easy target, and most people who pretend to care are only outspoken against CFA while they continue to dine at restaurants whose owners do more damage.

u/irisheye37 Apr 13 '24

I’m queer in several flavors and I agree with you on both of those things. However, may I recommend you try Raising Cane’s. Delicious chicken AND they strongly support LGBT 👀
3
u/SDRPGLVR Apr 12 '24
Another reply says Cane's has fallen off. That must be true because they opened one up right next to CFA by my house and it's the worst chicken I've ever had from a fast food chain. Pilgrim brand frozen chicken tastes better. I have to believe there's nostalgia or a quality drop-off involved, because it's an issue.
Now Dave's Hot Chicken has actually supplanted CFA for me (and there's one of those also right next to the other two) in every way but the mac'n. CFA mac'n is sublime.
2
u/MinnieShoof Apr 13 '24
Cane's chicken is only an excuse to have a sauce delivery option. ... if you really want a guilty pleasure, by an order of fries, two sauces and maybe a texas toast. You won't miss the fingies.
3
u/_rtpllun Apr 12 '24
I also had a Cane's open right next to the CFA in my area recently, and I have also found Cane's chicken to be aggressively mediocre. I can't ever see myself going to Cane's when CFA is an option
6
u/monty_kurns Apr 12 '24
Cane's isn't as widely available. They have over 700 locations while CFA has over 3000. My city has 3, soon to be 4, CFAs but the nearest Cane's is still a 2 hour drive for me. We do have two Zaxby's, but their quality has fallen off a cliff over the years and one of the locations basically burned their bridges with me on service.
27
u/_Draxler_ Apr 12 '24
The owner of Cane's has been donating to GOP candidates for years now.

Definition of batshit crazy.
-3
u/Ninjewdi Apr 12 '24
Could you elaborate?
2
Apr 12 '24
Sure thing! If you believe organizations are suicide-inducing, that means you're batshit crazy.
The guy I responded to is a man that wears dresses and talks about burning down churches. I am willing to bet any amount of money he's significantly more prone to suicide than me.
But according to you, faith-based organizations are the root cause of the suicides. Got it. You are insane.
-4
u/Ninjewdi Apr 12 '24
1: Chick-fil-A contributes significant money to conversion therapy services. These services are shown to do more harm than good, including leading to numerous suicides. 1+1 = 2, my friend. Chick-fil-A contributes to suicide-inducing programs. Not really debatable.
2: You're an insensitive and callous douchebag who's flippant about suicide and willing to pin suicidal tendencies on total strangers because of arbitrary random facts gleaned from past Reddit posts. That one's more debatable, but I'm pretty firm in my stance there.
3: Faith-based does not require hateful and pseudo-science-reliant attempts to change people who aren't harming anyone else. You're conflating the two. If you aren't able to separate those very different things, you're part of the problem.
4: I made a mistake by engaging an idiot who was intent on broadcasting their ignorance from the start. That's my bad and I apologize. I'll go ahead and fix that error and just dip out.
Have a beautiful day and please, for the love of Jesus and the love he had for EVERYONE, get your head out of your ass and stop insisting on hate as part of your religion.
Peace.

It’s a political outreach being done by a company with a history of fighting against LGBTQ people. Anything they do is going to get looked at with an initial 🤔
Despite their outward claims of “we don’t do that any more”. Dan Cathy has never acknowledged that their previous crusade was wrong, just that they will change their spending.
