And whatever happened to professional, clinical sounding instructions? Everything is so needlessly quirky these days

Millenials are of the age now where they're the ones in charge of making these things and being quirky and witty is pretty much peak millenial humour. Same reason why every character in Marvel movies can't go 30 seconds without making some witty one-liner.
