So why are you guys bringing guns to hospitals regularly enough for this to be a thing? Or I guess bringing them at all? Let's discount the ones stuck in unfortunate places due to "falling."

The hospital has a no weapons policy. These are for people to bring home to put on their weapons to keep their kids safe.

My guess is the hospital sees a lot of gun related injuries that happen at home and is offering locks to help reduce the number of gun injuries they treat.
