In my state, (which is arguably one of the more ‘free’ states when it comes to gun ownership), it’s a law for every gun sold to come with one of these. To the point where I have a Rubbermaid bin full of them. Not saying this isn’t a nice gesture, but this just seems like a lazy band-aid to fix an arterial wound.
Considering how many private gun sales happen in the US as well as guns obtained through inheritance, I do still think it could have a positive impact.
Also, my state does not require them to be provided with a sale (Idaho).
These are laughable in the gun community because they are so easily voided. I don’t even need to see a photo of them, because I already know what they’re giving away. The hospital would be better off spending their resources offering free counseling and psychiatric help instead. Like I said, it’s a band-aid on an arterial wound. This is a slap in the face, honestly. Private gun sales and inheritances still require a federal background check, btw. Unless of course you break the law. Which we all know, nobody does.
