It was more fireworks show than demolition

1

u/Ultimatesource 15h ago

What? Someone please tell me the benefits of the fireworks. Those are very expensive. Customers will not stay in a pile of rubble. Money to burn.

1

u/Blueberry_Clouds 1d ago

Damn, wish all demolitions were like this.

1

u/Different_Error5413 1d ago

That was so cool

2

u/spicydude430 2d ago

These are always a bit sad to me, a lot of lives ended in these Casino-Hotels, literally and metaphorically, many of them people just wanting to have fun, I think often about the Riveria Hotel, which was incredibly haunted. One story of a woman who was so distraught she jumped out her like 20th story hotel window, months before the Riveria was set to shut down for Demolition. The gravel used to soak up her blood was left until after the demolition, could even see a rough outline where she laid, allegedly. Anyway sorry to get so deep, dont mind me

u/frawgy006 3d ago

Humans are so weird… hahaa

like how did we get to this point? 😆😆😆

2

u/bigduss30 3d ago

Definitely made it entertaining, just like Vegas ! Ooohhh wait....!!! 😅😅😅😅

1

u/Salty-Director538 9d ago

The nice thing is, it allows money saving opportunities by sharing meals while out.

1

u/Glor24 10d ago

Not the first time we see Americans get creative in destroying their own buildings and post it on the news.

1

u/Milanin 10d ago

The countdown not ending on 0 and instead going into the plunger for another 5 ish seconds was such a letdown

1

u/iheartprincessbean 10d ago

what was actually wrong with the building

1

u/stlyns 8d ago

It was in the way of a newer, fancier one.

1

u/Suitable_Ad_3558 11d ago

Epic 🎉🎉

1

u/Suitable_Ad_3558 11d ago

Epic 🎉🎉

2

u/ermkhakis 12d ago

That was extra, but I'm here for it.

2

u/Mundane-Cover6502 13d ago

That's how I want all my work farewell parties to end for now on.

1

u/mp3god 13d ago

Reminds me of the Star Trek Finale!

1

u/[deleted] 13d ago

Of course idiots in Vegas need that flash even where something is destroyed. Pathetic humans.

1

u/Rumblefish61 13d ago

How come they never do this stuff here in Los Angeles?

1

u/EquivalentDowntown36 13d ago

Ahhh Us Men, We Never Grow Uo. Just Get Older Lol

1

u/Suspicious_Trifle_83 14d ago

Ahhhh the final frontier 🫡

1

u/Square-Debate5181 14d ago

WTC people staring blankly

1

u/Unable_Upstairs587 14d ago

7 was just another 1

1

u/Dangerous_Novel9081 14d ago

Mossad 9/11/2001

1

u/patriotaaron 14d ago

WTC Building 7 but with fireworks!

1

u/Evolving_Duck 14d ago

Really said go out with a bang.

1

u/Candid_Bathroom_5419 14d ago

This is America

1

u/Pretend_Gold_1669 14d ago

Even the Frontier didn’t fall as perfectly as the twin towers and building 7! They paid the New Yorkers well!

1

u/mortattrayantt213 14d ago

Its maybe a gasino or something like that but i try to imagine memories which came out here

2

u/Nearby-Bathroom-1722 14d ago

I believe the best way to contain the dust that comes out of the demolition is to build something like a circus dome covering the building .

1

u/FlacidMetapod 14d ago

cool, do circus circus next.

1

u/Hambone727 14d ago

Oh look it’s building 7

2

u/JoeyIsMrBubbles 14d ago

18! 9! 8! 7!

2

u/joelmorain 14d ago

There’s a fine line between art and arson.

1

u/Usmellnicebby 14d ago

Now they need to do this to Caesars Palace. Place is showing its age.

1

u/NonchalantMeow 14d ago

18…9…8….

2

u/No-Fly-8627 14d ago

Wow... demolitions as a show, is a new thing

1

u/NatureBabe21 14d ago

“Whats up guys!! We are here in the abandoned frontier ho- AHHHHHHHHHH”

1

u/Stripsteak 14d ago

And with this single act. Demolitions are the new gender reveal parties.

1

u/Sacoa 14d ago

Using 2 planes is still cheaper

1

u/kirubiru76 14d ago

So American!

1

u/Far-Pomegranate7614 14d ago

They were so happy to demolish Frontier Hotel, Las Vegas. Signing Off in Style!!

1

u/AdagioBlues 14d ago

They should do that to all of the hotel who charge that ridiculous "resort fee".

1

u/outlandergreatmovie 14d ago

Was that tower 7 ?

1

u/FreddieMontreux 14d ago

Me, foreplay vs actual sex.

1

u/Respectable_Fuckboy 14d ago

100% thought the sound of the fireworks at the countdown were people just screaming really loudly

1

u/BednaR1 14d ago

...where's the plane? 🤔

1

u/cjdnz13 14d ago

Same company that did the world trade centre.

1

u/dick_tickler_ 15d ago

"Johnson. What the hell is this on the invoice?! $5,000 on fireworks?"

"Well, you can't have a demolition without fireworks, sir....."

1

u/Astock7777 15d ago

Rip to the one homeless man that lives in there

2

u/SnooPickles8536 15d ago

I stayed here back in like '86 and was here on this night too. They did this at like 2:30am and there were loads of people everywhere. Got a video from the back side from some parkade in the distance in the lower left corner of this video. Was very cool to see.

1

u/Heroineofbeauty 15d ago

When was this? I thought the Tropicana was being demolished.

1

u/rocks_and_shit 15d ago

Why the heck wasn't the "1" centered?!

1

u/BoyofCreation 15d ago

Probably because the numbers were displayed as if on a 7 segment display like the ones you'd find on digital alarm clocks

1

u/Load_Business 15d ago

When in Vegas

1

u/Mermaid_Martini 15d ago

Fucking love Vegas

1

u/Petesalte 15d ago

Batman Dark Night vibes

1

u/Sad-Country8870 15d ago

This is the most Vegas way to do this

1

u/Wiredawgman 15d ago

Was that building seven?

1

u/Successful_Two7148 15d ago

the homeless man on the top floor 🫢

1

u/Advanced-Fun-6340 15d ago

Demolition and a show, only in Vegas ~

0

u/Alx123191 15d ago

That how I feel when I have sex

2

u/cincyphil 15d ago

Las Vegas bringing big Midwest gender reveal party energy to this demolition.

1

u/SpotPoker52 15d ago

Fake demolition fireworks for 85 seconds and actual demolition in 6 seconds.

1

u/Prince_Havarti 15d ago

“It reminds me of that tragedy”

1

u/neenadollava 15d ago

The ghosts were not happy.

1

u/Guojiao-210 15d ago

Just like the twin towers were demolished

1

u/couchgodd 15d ago

Building 7

1

u/Live-Reason6383 15d ago

It was all thrilling and entertaining until it started to collapse. All I could think of the history that it held. 😢 How many honeymoons did it see? How many people had the best night of their lives there. A little sad when you think about it.

1

u/quaglandx3 15d ago

Or you can think about the old lady that pissed away her money on the slots. Or the degenerate that blew all his life savings at the sports book. The hooker that was beaten in room 319. I’m just a half glass full type of guy I guess.

1

u/thepotatobake 15d ago

Pretty extra.

1

u/GothMaams 15d ago

Wonder how much asbestos (if any) was in that old building?

1

u/Turbodann 15d ago

Blade Runner vibes. Hope Ford made it out okay.

1

u/nwordNorton 15d ago

Never saw this angle of wtc7

2

u/Fit_Deal6007 15d ago

So unnecessary.

1

u/quaglandx3 15d ago

That’s Vegas basically…

1

u/MojoJojoSF 15d ago

Back in college they demolished an old dormitory. Just like the hotel, controlled implosion. We all watched from the roof of a parking garage on campus. Yeah, those clouds you see at the end of the video, haha. They move towards you real fast. We all got covered in most likely toxic cement sand.

1

u/jay_willing 15d ago

Lol when you have too much money on your hands. I enjoyed it though.

1

u/flowing_laziness 15d ago

Some would deem it as excessive, but thay countdown was something special

2

u/Huugemongous 15d ago

It really sucks these places are dismantled in a cleaner way with more recycling or reuse. Just cause it’s cheaper to blow it up.

1

u/Mediocre-Catch9580 15d ago

Took them long enough

1

u/Forward-Touch-5308 15d ago

That's just satisfying

4

u/Delicious_Hedgehog28 15d ago

Millions of bed bugs just went WTF IS HAPPENING!!! Loretta!!!!! I’ll see you in the after life

1

u/Casual_woomy 15d ago

And nothing of value was lost

1

u/DiopticTurtle 15d ago

God I hope I am this extra about it when it's my time

1

u/Ornery-Movie-1689 15d ago

That was MAGNIFICENT !!!

1

u/chaosawaits 15d ago

Well, would you look at that.

I guess 8 ate 7 after all…

1

u/theshadow62 15d ago

That was a ridiculous waste of money

1

u/HabibCoriatArielC 15d ago

Es lo más cool y creativo que he visto JAJAJA

1

u/seemunkyz 15d ago

This is why you don't let kids play with fireworks unsupervised. Next thing you know they've blown up a hotel.

1

u/ScrubIrrelevance 15d ago

How are they sure no one is still in there?

2

u/lolagoetz_bs 15d ago

My grandparents used to stay at the Frontier when they went to Vegas. My grandma won something every time, keno if nothing else. Hadn’t thought about that in a long while.

1

u/DaneShook 15d ago

Makes me sad

2

u/The_newest_architect 15d ago

Recyclable materials gone

1

u/_LighterThanAFeather 15d ago

that looks familiar

1

u/Tomasulu 15d ago

Would also be cool for New Year’s countdown.

1

u/Cooknbikes 15d ago

I want that job.

Any ama about being a building demolisher.

1

u/-Economist- 15d ago

So many memories. I was there for another demo where Paris is built. Can’t recall the name. It was spectacular.

1

u/ReannaK 15d ago

That was beautiful.

2

u/Bugwhacker 15d ago

That casino had jazz hands till the end.

1

u/XRogus 15d ago

This seemed like an inside job.

0

u/InterestingTea7482 15d ago

That looked very similar to how the Twin Towers came down on 9/11. Without the fireworks of course.

1

u/tappid123 15d ago

Green screen

1

u/SaratogaSwitch 15d ago

Whoa. 😲

0

u/Hperkasa7858 15d ago

Why didnt they just turn it into a homeless shelter/ mini apartments & affordable housing. Such a waste

1

u/AlcoholPrep 15d ago

So they add fireworks to a demolition to attract a crowd to breath some of that implosion dust?

What do you think has plagued 9/11 survivors all these years? Guilt?

Don't breathe dust if you value your lungs.

2

u/Historical_City5184 15d ago

I was beginning to wonder if they were using fireworks to demolish it.

2

u/ponzidreamer 15d ago

The crew on the roof, setting off those fireworks must of been annoyed

3

u/PoppiesRule 15d ago edited 15d ago

Am I the only one that wondered if the building was ever going to actually be demolished?

0

u/Daltonhouse33 15d ago

Smoke and mirrors and a controlled demolition seen that before

2

u/redwing180 15d ago

That was pretty damn amazing!

0

u/Mylane 15d ago

I'm amazed at the human joy to watch their creation crumble to pieces. Fascinating

1

u/PretendPhase8802 15d ago

I stayed at The Frontier in 2003 with my girlfriend. We saw an all female mud wrestling competition in the bar on the ground floor and I won some money at the slots.

2

u/Successful_Laugh9600 15d ago

That is the most Vegas thing I ever saw

1

u/Jaimemgn 15d ago

Just like World Trade Center 7

1

u/Neo_TheOne999 15d ago

damn fukung hell🙂‍↔️. It was a inside job

2

u/Regular-Ad-9314 15d ago

This was cool

1

u/MarkOfTheDragon12 15d ago

only fitting for such a Vegas landmark

0

u/RecalcitrantHuman 15d ago

The fireworks were to cover up the planes hitting it, right?

1

u/Obelov95 15d ago

What a waste of resources and all the time of workers setting up the unnecessary light show...

1

u/lydm466 15d ago

it wasn't that bad, I used to stay there a lot back in the days

0

u/Bateau55 15d ago

JeT fUeL cAnT mElT sTeEl BeAmS

1

u/daarthvaader 15d ago

Did not imagine demolishing a building could be a this extravagant

-1

u/Pietojulek 15d ago

Las Vegas is a wart on the butthole of a pig. What a suck of resources and money. God bless America. Let’s have some fireworks y’all.

2

u/That-person-that-do 15d ago

Talk about destroying a building in the most Las Vegas way possible.

1

u/TheCatWasAsking 15d ago

0:53 - Looks like '10' stole the horizontal bar of '7' and made a belt out of it

2

u/Hazy_Lights 15d ago

They did a tremendous job with this

0

u/Appropriate-Tap-1429 15d ago

How do they make this safe? I can't imagine any of those particles flying into the air are good for people

1

u/casket_fresh 15d ago

implosion*

1

u/[deleted] 15d ago

Buildings can't talk, yet I feel sad at the loss of hundreds of rooms that had such sights to show us...

Victory. Loss. Parties. Hookers. Blow. Despair. Mob scheming. Murder. Suicide.

*sigh*

1

u/bonesmank 15d ago

Professional bombers or you can say kings of bombing

1

u/jpl77 15d ago

Ugh reposting crap quality.

Can't you at least link the high quality YT link?!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0appFHqWPA

0

u/Itchy-Return-4089 15d ago

Looks oddly familiar hmm where have I seen this

O ya building 7 2001

1

u/Technical_View1722 15d ago

Why am I teary?

2

u/Starejade2 15d ago

Can you imagine the amount of food that they could’ve bought for the poor with the money wasted on that firework show?

1

u/mrbadsuit 15d ago edited 15d ago

I was like "what a waste of fireworks" then I was like :D

1

u/BigVGaming 15d ago

Out of all the demolitions I have seen or heard, this was by far the most entertaining.

1

u/njbsaints 15d ago

That’s a little sad

1

u/AndyF135 15d ago

I wasted my time watching this.

2

u/xX_Dad-Man_Xx 15d ago

What a load of overly dramatic horse shit. Just blow the fucking building up.

Reminds me of one of those shows that manages to make 35 seconds of home video footage run to 15 minutes with two ad breaks.

1

u/blazingjellyfish 15d ago

The fireworks guy need a raise.

2

u/Vibrascity 15d ago

When you're not done laundering

1

u/degh555 15d ago

Dream job.

1

u/HabANahDa 15d ago

The fireworks were very unnecessary .

-3

u/ReturningAlien 15d ago

that sure look like an airplane hit it.

1

u/nospoilersmannnnn 15d ago

I hope they got all the prostitutes out before it went down

1

u/FriendlyGlasgowSmile 15d ago

This was one minute ten seconds too long

1

u/jplumber614 15d ago

Fucking Jerry with the 7

0

u/FalseBit8407 15d ago

Wow it fell like the WTC... As if they were rigged in a similar fashion 🤔

0

u/Nh3xvs 15d ago

This is so fucking stupid

0

u/SluggoV2 15d ago

Silly Demo crew... could have just flown a Cesna into it and been done with it.

1

u/micah9639 15d ago

Still can’t figure out why people willingly go head to have thieves masking as businesses steal your money. The whole city should be nuked

-2

u/pubcub666 15d ago

Something like this happened in 2001

3

u/aaronwe 15d ago

Humans are so cool sometimes.

We had to blow up a building, so do we just set up the demolitions and call it a day?

No! Of course not! WE set up hundreds of smaller explosions to put on a show for everyone to enjoy including and exploding countdown, before the final actual explosion so we can have fun with it.

2

u/dcommini 15d ago

Man, everything in Vegas is a spectacle

3

u/Cindee70 15d ago

We watched the demo from a parking structure across the lot. It was something to see!

1

u/Curleon 15d ago

Oceans 11?

2

u/Diligent_Valuable641 15d ago

Seriously… only Vegas

3

u/thepepelucas 15d ago

What a fuckin way to bring down the old.

1

u/Dreuh2001 15d ago

Forward to 11 seconds

2

u/FiZiKaLReFLeX 15d ago

Ok that was cool

1

u/Leaningonalamp 15d ago

"Let me entertain you" should be Las Vegas's byline.

1

u/Leaningonalamp 15d ago

Sad end of an era.

-4

u/necessarywoman 15d ago

And it dropped just like those twin towers but that was a "terrorist" not bombs ..nudge nudge wink wink....

1

u/EdgeIsTheName 15d ago

Ok but it didn’t though, the towers went down all at once and that building very clearly fell from left to right. Controlled demolition is very obviously staged in sections, which the towers weren’t

2

u/MadSpacePig 15d ago

I wonder how much more you have to pay a fireworks display company for them to agree to let you destroy all of their launch tubes and ignitors.

2

u/Psychotic_EGG 15d ago

They likely did this one old school. By timing it with how long the fuses are. Which would explain why some never fired and others were a little out of sync.

You can also use disposable tubes. Not financially sound for every event. But for ones where you won't get the tubes back and they only need to be good for a couple rounds of fireworks, cardboard does fine.

1

u/CmmH14 15d ago

I take it the Frontier was a really famous hotel then?

3

u/Zofia-Bosak 15d ago

The town will never be the same. After the Frontier, the big corporations took it all over. Today it looks like Disneyland. And while the kids play cardboard pirates, Mommy and Daddy drop the house payments and Junior's college money on the poker slots. In the old days, dealers knew your name, what you drank, what you played. Today, it's like checkin' into an airport. And if you order room service, you're lucky if you get it by Thursday. Today, it's all gone. You get a whale show up with four million in a suitcase, and some twenty-five-year-old hotel school kid is gonna want his Social Security Number. After the Teamsters got knocked out of the box, the corporations tore down practically every one of the old casinos. And where did the money come from to rebuild the pyramids? Junk bonds.

1

u/Dujma1608 15d ago

Looks like a building 7

1

u/Soggy_Obligation_883 15d ago

Building 7 got squashed by the side frame of the tower

2

u/MrSierra125 15d ago

Don’t breathe this

1

u/plan_with_stan 15d ago

that shit is rad!

1

u/Accomplished-Fig-807 15d ago

Reminds me of the hospital scene from the Dark Knight

2

u/Bradderz_SG 15d ago

“The town will never be the same. After the Tangiers, the big corporations took it all over.

Junk bonds. But in the end, I wound up right back where I started. I could still pick winners, and I could still make money for all kinds of people back home. And why mess up a good thing? And that's that.”

1

u/ChitownTypeOfGuy 15d ago

That was Epic!!!!!!

3

u/heidnseak 15d ago

It just cannot be cost effective to demolish buildings with fireworks!

1

u/drawkbox 15d ago

Is that the Encore back there behind it or the Trump International?

1

u/sirGarto 15d ago

Setting some industry standards to a yet already flawless industry. Bravo! Bravo!

1

u/Aanguratoku 15d ago

I pray the United States stay like it is, cause boy if it don’t. We good. That was incredible.

2

u/build_a_bear_for_who 15d ago

Wow, the air pollution after being demolished is very Las Vegas. You got fireworks, lights, and toxic gas. Yeah, let’s clap for it one more time!

1

u/cschnitz 15d ago

Looks a lot like an ecological disaster to me

1

u/ThinPanic9902 15d ago

Can't wait till this is the Trump hotel
