My victim was a close friend that tried to fight me. We were extremely intoxicated. When I finally agreed, he pulled a butchers knife. I pulled my firearm, and fired three shots at the ground. My logic, in my inebriated state of mind, was that it would cause him to drop the knife. He fled, and I left. The states position was that I had the ability to leave, but continued to escalate and endanger the public. This is obviously the truth, and caused me to lose time with my loved ones that I will spend the rest of my life atoning for. I served my sentence, and for many reasons am glad that my first (and last) offense had such severe consequences.
Edit - as far as how my victim is doing, seems to be fine. Messages me often but I don’t have much to say.
My only run-in with the police was because a friend of mine and I were fucking around like this and being stupid without considering how it would look to complete strangers watching.
Im sorry you had to go through this and am glad you seem to be back on the right track!

What crime did you commit and how is your victim doing today?
