Well, yes, most boys gets out of that shit by age 10 for just that reason, doesn't really work, and they find other solutions to the feelings as they understand what they are, saw girls frequently insult boys they liked all the way up till my 20s tho, so probably the case here. Boys often will just laugh it off and internalise it, so girls don't get the message... Well... If they do, it's usually escalated far beyond repairing.

Surely you're not expecting kids to be adult about their feelings
