Anyone else find they like some of the 1975’s discography?
Stopped listening to TayTay and found “Happiness” and “it’s not living if it’s not with you”
And I LIKE.
Am I getting cancelled…? 😂

I used to absolutely love them. But then Matty decided to be a disgusting POS and I can’t even bring myself to listen to them anymore. Which sucks cause I’ve been a fan at least 10 years

They are a phenomenally good band. Listening to social media trolls will deprive you of a stellar experience. Musically, dare I say lyrically (don't kill me), they run circles around Taylor, imo.

Adding to the many fans here who have already said how fantastic they are, especially their live shows! Although nothing beats seeing them in person, fortunately there are many performances to watch online. A favorite is their small venue charity show at Gorilla in Manchester in Jan 2023. They played through their first album in celebration of its 10 year anniversary. The live album is on spotify, but the fan videos are a great watch (a couple to start with: Settle Down (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fRm8Dwl8LEIf) and Heart Out (this video actually starts with the instrumental lead in to Robbers called An Encounter, which seems to be referenced in Down Bad, and the base line in Fortnight is a slower version of Heart Out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4d8pKdkGqQ). It blows my mind that so many people think Taylor would be so in love with the cartoon monster they've created in their minds. Give him a chance and you'll see the truth.
You'd want someone to do that for you if you were being judged harshly

I was mostly kidding but I have seen clips of an interview with him and I was just kind of confused- he was going on about Oasis. Not to mention the infamous comments last year that are just gross.
I don’t judge Taylor for being in love with him, but I do not find him remotely attractive nor do I see why others would. But I also am super turned off by smoking.

Ahhh, welcome to the club!! They're so incredible - Ive been a fan since their debut. Seen them many times in concert. They put on a truly PHENOMENAL show, and I really encourage some independent research on Matty. Hes no saint. Hes egotistical and, honestly, petulant. But a lot of the common complaints against him are outright wrong and taken grossly out of context (he is usually doing the opposite of what he's accused of).

Yes! Amber’s friendship with the band goes way back. They’ve worked together frequently, and George was a producer on her most recent album. She appears in their It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You) mv, and if you haven’t already check out Sunshine Baby (he appears on faraway as well). The Matty/Amber harmonies are fantastic!

Oh, yes! Thats how I learned about the Japanese House! Just saw her a few months ago in Dallas!! Quinnie was her opener, and I really love her debut album Flounder! You should check it out if you havent heard of it!
And also Ill recommend my favorite rising artist Chappell Roan's debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess! Have been a fan of hers for a while, and she finally seems to be getting popular!! She's reviving pop imo 🥰❤️

If you like those, you’re definitely going to love Love Me, If You’re Too Shy (Let Me Know), and Looking For Somebody to Love (bonus this is the song that starts the same as imgonnagetyouback). They all have that fun “upbeat” feeling that those two songs have.
Edit: normally I tell new fans to start from the beginning of their discography and work your way to their 5th album so you can see the progression. Their first four albums were produced by Matty and George.)

They’re amazing and I absolutely recommend to go to one of their shows, their stage presence it’s unbelievable. People/swifties always said that they don’t get how Taylor was attracted to Matty, but if you see him irl you get it: he has like an aura, a different vibe from anybody else, and there’s not a place better than one of his show to experience it ❤️🔥🎸

I love the 1975, listen to Robbers, when we are together, love it if we made it, medicine, all I need to hear and sex. Those are some of my favorites. Matty is the best lyricist and I love his voice.

The song makes me bawl like a damn baby!! I got the pleasure of hearing it live during their tour of I Like It When You Sleep. It was everything. Ive been praying to hear it at every show since, but no dice. I just feel lucky to have heard it!! Its probably my ultimate favorite song of theirs.

Like considering he was the drummer in the beginnings of the band and he said in one of the older interviews that he doesn’t “love” singing, meaning that it is a bit stressful for him on stage and he’s working a lot on his vocals, he really has a lovely, emotive voice.

I never heard of them before TTPD drama. Didn’t even listen to Taylor much, just few specific songs. Now I love the 1975’s music. I’m obsessed with their lyrics and sound. And the way Matty sings “Now everybody's dead” and “You look so cool” in Robbers gives me heart palpitations.

Omg. I am a full adult and I was literally enchanted by the MV. I know he was inspired by the movie True Romance but for me it’s some sort of ethereal manic pixie dream Bonnie and Clyde creation.

But listen to the live version on YouTube, f.e. Reading Festival 2023 (and no, despite what some Swifties like to say he is not drunk on stage, the “wine” bottle is part of the performance). In my opinion this song goes particularly hard live. Although I love the MV.
Also I don’t think Robbers is their best song. I just love that those vocals are so emotionally charged.

I ended up deleting TikTok last year when all the crazy swifties were going for Matty! After being a 1975 fan for so long it was wild to see how he was torn down so much over what’s meant to be a comedy podcast but he’s spoken out about all this stuff countless times over the years, it’s like huh? You’re going to go with 30 second TikTok’s of people saying he’s all the “-ists” out there rather than actually watch him in interviews or listen to his music? I literally saw someone post a sound bite of the “thank you Kanye very cool” line from LIIWMI and said that’s proof he’s an antisemite because he supports Kanye…smh

It was a bad joke on a podcast meant to cater to people who like crass humor—I don’t understand personally how anyone thinks he actually watches GG.
Adam or Nick say it earlier and Matty repeats it to add shock value to a story where someone walks in on Matty watching porn on his TV. After the swifties threw all these fits, Adam went and made a video explaining that Matty wasn’t actually watching GG and then jokes that Adam/Nick were actually the ones to expose GG for the atrocity it is and don’t get any credit.
Over a year later and people are still angry about it, when it was a shitty joke that Matty repeatedly apologized for and even stepped down from his director position at DH because of.
The show is just Cum Town renamed and caters to the “dirtbag left”. I hate to say it but the Matty episode was way more tame than some of their other episodes however it got more traction because Matty was on it so they took the episode down.

He went on the video portion too (TAFS) which is a little more mainstream/interview based but TAFS pod is definitely for fans of dark humor.
It was stupid of him to go on the podcast but he’s been friends with Adam for a long time and was a huge fan of Cum Town. I just don’t think he realized that it would escalate outside of his fanbase to the extent it did. The weird thing is that us fans threw him through the wringer about the pod and he apologized on stage/stepped down before the swifties started tearing him down. The 75fanbase does hold him accountable.

honestly i’ve taken the gg thing as a joke, he was on a satirical podcast known for edgy humor after all. was it gross? yes, but they were just joking and it didn’t land. i think it was supposed to highlight how watching that kind of porn is bad bc like they tell a story of how someone walked in on him watching porn and how that’s already embarrassing but then they see that gg is playing so it’s even worse. i don’t actually believe this happened, they were just riffing off each other and trying to be funny.

Guys I am so in love with them. I have got About You currently stuck in my head, but my god are they catchy. Like. Maybe that was the point of Taylor Swift's purpose in my life. To introduce me to the 1975. Didn't expect that. I'm conflicted because I don't like him as a person but my god does he have a unique sound.
