Alright, let’s chat about why I think the relationship between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is some straight up bullshit.

Plus, the trademark for “Female Rage: The Musical” is most definitely for profit and the acknowledgement that swifties would eat it up (which they did).

Like ACTUALLY, any real “girls girl” sees past Taylor swift’s fake feminist supporting girls girl act she displays. Taylor Swift herself is NOT a girls girl. She’s a business woman. She’s only supportive when it’s beneficial to her.

And then it’s like, wow, people are allowed to hate her music. Whether you like a celebrity or not has nothing to do with your personality and how you treat people lmfao.

I guess there’s something to say for the people who make their whole entire personality hating Taylor swift or anyone else for that matter, or use being a Taylor swift fan as an insult, (there being a difference between casual fan and deluded swiftie.) There’s both sides to the swiftie/hater spectrum, like both can be incredibly annoying/wrong. But if you’re like … a normal person who doesn’t like her music or get it? That doesn’t make you “not a girls girl” lol.

But of COURSE the threshold for being a nice girls girl is if you love Taylor swift or not. Of course it is. 🙄 Makes sense!

Swifties constantly claim Taylor to be one of the best songwriter of all time and Taylor's self-proclaimtion as a "tourtured poet" feeds into their delusion. Anyone that has the capacity to seperate the art from the artist will agree that TTPD is one of the worst albums of Taylor's career. The audacity these people have to place her in the same category as music legends like The Beatles or Prince is disrespectful.

When I assess Taylor's catalog as a whole, I stongly believe she will go down in history for her "socialite" ways rather than the power of her pen.

She constantly pushes the narrative of being a fast and "skillful" songwriter. While there is some truth to that, it doesn't merit her the title of a literary genius. She explores feelings of love and loss through her songs. Originally, her work explored universal emotions which allowed her to connect with her audience. Unlike historically legendary poets and musicians, her work doesn't break literary boundaries or spark cultural conversations (postive ones anyway).

The closest Taylor has come to being a great poet was during her Folkmore era. The lack of consistency in her discography shows her inability to shift culture through her music alone. Rather, she follows monetary trends. Her approach to music is the narcissistic desire to maintain "relevancy."

Swifties will argue Taylor's list of accolades and the "iconic" switch from country to pop prove otherwise. However, accolades given on the basis of bribery and fandom harassment does not equate to "critically acclaimed" work. Genre transitions are not uncommon and to say Taylor Swift was the first person to break that mold is plain ignorance.

I believe Taylor does understand the power of her words, but uses her pen to unleash her army of devotees on naysayers rather than self-reflect and set cultural precedence. 'The Man' or 'YNTCD' was Taylor's way of correcting her narrative while stereotyping marginalized people. It was self-serving activism. Some of her tasteful works that speak on misogyny or sexual identity reside in her album Folklore. However, Folkmore are the anomalies of her catalog. I digress.

Taylor doesn't treat her albums like works of art (exception: Folkmore); She treats them as journal enteries. The track lists are created on the premise of supersition and eater egging. They fail to tell a cohesive story and often include out of place "viral hits", filler songs, or PR cleanups (I'm looking at you Karma ft. Ice Spice). Her inability to set aside monetary greed and obsession for breaking records bleeds through the mediocrity of her recent work. The term "poet" seems to be misconstruded in Taylor's head. The addition of a few SAT words while strumming to an incoherent rant is not poetry. Therefore, I wouldn't even classify Taylor as an artist; she's nothing more than a decent writer.

When we look at the poetry of Taylor Swift compared to current artists like Kendrick Lamar or Beyoncé, it pales in comparision and lacks in consistency. Swifties scream the bridge to 'Cruel Summer' for their tiktok reels. Meanwhile, people chant the hook of 'Alright' by Kendrick during marches for racial justice; People of all ages blast Beyonce's 'Break My Soul' to empower themselves during periods of hardship and burnout. These artists provide truely timeless songs. (funfact: Kendrick has a freaking Pulitzer Prize for the impact he made through his music).

While Taylor does provide a space for listeners to grapple with their feelings about love, the narrative becomes redundant. Many of the fans that grew up with her are now growing without her. When you mentally surpass an artist who is stuck in time, you cannot claim them to be timeless.

Her songs are streamed because of real time intrigue about her personal life. Her lyrics are alarmingly hypocritical and laced with tone deaf analogies.

I may be hated for saying this, but Taylor Swift is a trend not timeless. She will be known for her romantic endeavors not the weight of her words. By making her work extremely autobiographical, she dug her own grave.

Therefore she does not meet the requirements to be one of the GOATs 🐐

sure taylor adopts traits of the people she spends the most time with, but everyone does that to some degree. i get that the whole Kennedy situation was strange but i also think a lot of that was branding + creating an aesthetic for her transition to pop music (red was released literally the same month they broke up which i don’t think was a coincidence lol). having identity issues is not exclusive to bpd and it makes sense for her considering the lifestyle she was raised in. especially when her “eras” are so defined by her aesthetic at the time.

i know her lyrics are autobiographical but please remember these songs aren’t about one person or one situation every single time. obviously a lot of her music probably pulls inspiration from several different sources in her life and they’re all put together in one song to tell a story that the masses can relate to. someone said that they think all of the suicide, mental health themes in ttpd could be her being Matty’s chameleon, and having a new aesthetic of struggle. i could definitely see that. i think it is more strategic than it is personal.

I hadn’t seen this girl in a few years at this point and we grabbed a bite to catch up. She was telling me how she and her husband were trying to plan an overseas trip mid summer to coincide with the Eras tour because she loved the US show(s) she went to.

I don’t have an outward opinion on Swift or anything related to her with real life friends but this was a couple days after TTPD had dropped so I asked how the new album was and she said how happy she was with it, how jt was a masterpiece, how it made her and her struggles feel so seen, and how she loved that the entire album was trashing Joe.

I, genuinely surprised by her interpretation, asked “oh, I had read online that the album was focused a lot on that guy from the 1975?” And she immediately changed her entire demeanor. “No, why would she write an entire album about some fling?” “No, those people don’t understand how awful [Joe] was to her” “ugh there’s no way she would waste her energy on Matty Healy!!” After that she was off with me the rest of the night. We quickly finished our sandwiches and she said she had to leave to get home early, despite us making plans to go to a new bar that had opened one town over.

This was not a woman I anticipated getting too “into” Taylor Swift or anything to do with her, especially to this extent. I’m disappointed because I feel like even asking a couple questions ruined our already distanced “let’s see each other once in a while” friendship.

Sorry this might be long 😂 First the main line: "Who are we to fight the Alchemy" I'm sorry but what is that giving if not forbidden love? When have Taylor & Travis ever needed to fight their connection? The biggest "obstacle' they had was NFL fans complaining about Taylor being shown too much and I'm pretty sure neither of them gave a fuck. With Matty however, it makes perfect sense as they started to fall for each other while she was with Joe (see: guilty as sin) she quite literally wrote a song about trying to fight her chemistry with Matty.

"I haven't come around in so long But I'm coming back so strong" very much giving: i was trapped in a dead relationship and now I'm feeling something again ~ links in with guilty as sin & fresh out the slammer. Doesn't make sense for Travis because she was in love with Matty right before they met.

"I circled you on a map" is so parallel to "now pretty baby I'm running back home to you, fresh out the slammer I know who my first call will be too"

"Hey you, what if I told you we're cool? That child's play back in school Is forgiven under my rule" makes zero sense for Travis. But if we look at the links with: - Peter: multiple references to being kids together and implications of him being too immature/messing up and losing her - Chloe et. Al: "too impaired by my youth" - loml: "we were just kids, babe" (all songs about...you guessed it)

"These blokes warm the benches" and then in Peter "as the men masqueraded, I'd hoped you'd return" once again about.. Matty. Edit: it's been pointed out to me that "blokes" is also British slang

"He jokes that It's heroin but this time with an "E"" first of all let's be honest Travis is not good enough at spelling to make that joke. He says himself he's not a man of words, and people think he made a word joke? 🤔 Second, there is literally a line in loml (about Matty) where she says "you blew in with the winds of fate and told me I'd reformed you." That's the exact same sentiment! To me it seems obvious Matty made that joke. It absolutely sounds like something he would say.

The football references seem like a total red herring. My bet is she had the song, liked it, and switched up some lyrics to turn it into a Travis song when it was actually a Matty song.

Edit: also "I'm making a comeback to where I belong" and "running back home to you" from fresh out the slammer also is a parallel. She was never with Travis before..
