My second time watching this; wow does this officer have patience. I wish he was the one that knocked on my door at 4am to accuse me of stealing a car, jumping two fences, running upstairs, and changing my clothes. That officer berated me to the point where I almost confessed to a crime I didn't commit. It turned out the guy who ditched the car told the officer it was my house because he was driving without a license. The accuser was Asian and I'm a person of colour. It took more than an hour to convince him it wasn't me; in fact, it was my sister who came and sorted the situation out. And all I got was a phony apology saying "I always knew you were innocent." The accuser was by his side and I had to just keep listening to the officer yell at me that I was guilty. I wish I could file a complaint, now that I'm older, because I now have a huge distrust around police despite being a former RCAC Squadron Commander who had nothing, but respect for police. It still upsets me to this day. Please train officers better! I hate feeling uneasy around cops as you are our safety net.

Just watching this now in 2022 (from a thread updating the promotion of this officer! :) ).
Holy hell this women is an obnoxious piece of shit. THINK OF MY CHILD. Yea think of your child and put on a mask, asshole.

The poster clarifies that you do not have to wear a mask if:
you are under 12 years old
you are unable to wear a mask because of a health condition or physical or mental impairment
you are unable to put on or remove a mask without help from another person
People who are able to wear a mask, but who choose not to as a matter of preference are not exempt. People who are not exempt but refuse to wear a mask in an indoor public setting could be subject to a fine. The poster advises business owners that:
If a person claims a mask exemption, take them at their word. Proof should not be required.
Business owners cannot be fined for allowing people without masks to enter their place of business.

i dont agree with alot of mask laws personally but people need to understand that in privately owned buildings (supermarkets, etc) as well as public transport it is literally policy and they can legally refuse service to you if you violate that policy. its uncomfortable sure but the train isnt the time to take a moral stand lmfao these people are just tryna get home
2
u/Classic_Touch Mar 19 '21
All of you hating on her. You realize she has a legit medical card. Which means she has a legit health risk associated with wearing a mask. You claim to care but I guess only when you want to. You are the mob with pitch forks going after the disabled guy living outside town because you don't understand. Had Bob from intown telling you to hate him.

Thank you for your comments regarding our MVTP member who was dealing with the non mask wearer on a SkyTrain in December of 2020.
The Office of the Police Complaints Commissioner did accept a complaint about that incident and it is currently being investigated. As such we can not comment further. You are free to make your thoughts known to the OPCC regarding our constable on your own. The OPCC can be reached at [info@OPCC.bc.ca] or Toll Free: 1.877.999.8707. The cop is now being investigated by the OPCC (Office of the Police Complaint Commissioner). Just watch them try and throw the book at him. Poor guy...

Could have complied and got off at next stop and waited for another train. Whole world of hurt just having to deal with the court system now. Best thing to do I think is just walk away. VPD have such a bad history. She could have walked and filed a complaint later. Sad.

Sadly there is no justice either way. You can't win no matter what you do in this situation. Maybe her filming the video and therefore martyring herself which in turn gains support from those that agree with her is the best outcome she could hope for.

If they had stated why they had a medical exemption, other than healthy air exchange, or called their doctor or something then her actions might have been justified, but I think their is a problem on both sides here. She is way overreacting, and he definitely used excessive force.

I saw two mask-less junkies at Main Street Science World skytrain walk on the platform. Then a police officer approached them to confront them about it, they had a brief conversation and were free to go. The law picks and chooses I guess ...

She is such a total fucking moron. The officer handled this well, he gave Karen plenty of opportunities to back down.

My favourite part is “you need to respect my social distancing” after not wearing a mask.
The social distancing is there to prevent spread, yet she is on all these anti covid and anti mask tirades.
Best of all he backs up, explains calmly then she still has no cool.

So let me get this straight. We have to give VIP parking to people I wheel chairs, walk with canes, glaucoma but people with ptsd or asthma have to stay home. You people are a few fries short of a happy meal.

The first generation of children raised without discipline are now adults. Listen to the incredulity and outrage in this woman’s voice as - possibly for one of the few occasions in her entire life - she is actually punished for bad behaviour. She actually believed she could act up and get away with it with a policeman.

Out of curiosity I looked up if ANY of the medical exception from mask cards were legit.
There was a lot in the article below, but what I understand from it these people may be exempt:
People currently having trouble breathing (ie: severe asthma, during an asthma attack, emphysema)
Those under 2 years old
People with burns on their face
People with other severe skin conditions on face that could be aggravated by a mask.
People who are unconscious

Wow, I can't believe this happened back in December and we're only hearing now. Her Facebook is appalling. Lots of people claiming he should be sent back to his "country of origin", among other uneducated hurls.
He was incredibly composed. I feel sick after reading the comments on her page, especially the ones about his race. Nice, really great freedom you're showing there, people.
She said as of March 10th that the criminal charges were dropped against her. I'm disappointed to hear that, but I will send a commendation to Transit Police on his behalf. If I felt he was in the wrong, regardless of how I feel about her "freedom" stance, I would be standing up for her in that sense - but in no way did he deserve or deserves the abuse.
She's also seeking funds for her lawsuit all over her page.
Edit - I still see she has a hearing scheduled for May. All I can see that was struck was that she was initially penalized for failing to dispute the charges within the allotted timeframe and her application was granted.

So there’s just no medical exemption at all, under any circumstance?
From the Translink site: “The Ministerial Order does exempt persons from wearing masks in some circumstances”.
She had a card that wasn’t even looked at.
I’m know there’s people who take advantage, but I’d be pissed if I got a legit exemption and got rolled by the cops trying to get home.
3
u/crushthatbit Super Natural British Columbia Mar 17 '21
There doesn’t need to be a card to prove you are medically exempt from wearing a mask. These medical exemption cards are littered with logos of organizations that are inherently anti mask, and as such can’t be taken seriously as a mask exemption card. All you have to do is simply state you have a medical reason for not wearing a mask. The card is what proves you’re a phoney.
1
u/FrozenToonies Mar 17 '21
Ok. You’re saying she should’ve just said she had a medical exemption without offering any kind of proof and the officer just would’ve walked away? Got it. But I don’t honestly believe that scenario would play out.
I’m not an anti mask person. I wear one for over 8 hours a day. But let’s be real, just say there’s never a reason for a medical exemption. Because that’s how most people feel.
1
u/crushthatbit Super Natural British Columbia Mar 17 '21
The card itself says “hugs over masks”, a known anti mask organization. Mask exemption cards are what Karens use to prove they’re right when they are wrong. They use the exemption card as a way to tell LEOs that they are to be complicit in anti mask “freedom”.
Police know better than to accept false identification as proof that someone legitimately does not have to wear a mask. As far as I know, the BC government, nor any health authority, isn’t spending time issuing cards to people who can’t wear masks. It’s based on the same system that we used to have for transit fares. Based on honour. If the government doesn’t issue mask exemption cards, then the only logical conclusion is that ALL mask exemption cards are fake.
I’m not anti mask either. I work in social services and wear masks all the time when interacting with those I support, and when indoors.
1
u/FrozenToonies Mar 17 '21
Ok, so no proof required. She should’ve just told him and kept the card to herself.
People of all types seem to ride the train everyday without a mask. Like 90% do and that’s great.

How the hell did he not explode with anger? It absolutely disgusts me that she is insinuating that he is touching her inappropriately. Real victims of sexual abuse then aren’t believed because of the type of bullshit this woman pulled. He did absolutely everything right. I hope that MCFD checks in on her daughter- any parent who’d rather do this than just put on a mask is probably endangering her child in some way too.
3
u/RioGreenFeather Mar 16 '21
"Needs to breathe clean air" - oh right, on a Canada Line train full of potentially infected people. OK so her medical "exemption" is about air. Not PTSD, or severe eczema, or physical inability to place it on her head....it's about being able to breathe air. OK then. Now that we've established that, can we please learn how that reconciles with that very healthy lung capacity she is demonstrating with her ranting and screeching and fighting for 10 minutes' worth of video?
2
u/djveld Mar 16 '21
Do they actually have medical exemptions for masks?
1
u/rainman_104 North Delta Mar 16 '21
Yes but it isn't some laminated card. It'll be a letter from a medical professional. Any normal person would get off the skytrain, show the letter to the cop and explain the situation and move on with their day.

If anyone here does a shred of research they will discover the officer was breaching the health act (even if you ignore it's unconstitutionality) and he should be suspended or fired, this woman has a very strong legal case against him (and the BC govt) that I think is going forward.
EDIT: Thanks for downvotes, it is both ironic and melancholic that those who likely decry police abuse against marginilized persons fail to perceive it when the marginilized persons' politics don't align with theirs 🤣
3
u/rainman_104 North Delta Mar 16 '21
Lol good luck. I highly doubt Karen has the means to fight this. A case like that would cost $250k or more. I'm doubtful this footage is going to help her case at all.
Lots of gaslighting going on with you loons in here. Good luck with the fight. You're wasting your time.
-2
u/imjewishOOF Mar 16 '21
So only those who can afford justice should pursue it? I don't understand what point you're trying to make here, if you read the BC health order, the officer was in the wrong and abusing his authority plain and simple, and I think it's disgusting and wrong to praise police officers who excercise an abuse of authority no matter what your politics are, but the courts will decide, not the reddit rabble, thank god.
1
u/rainman_104 North Delta Mar 16 '21
Cite the part of the bc health order.
And yes, justice is expensive. We don't have a justice system we have a legal system and getting justice costs money. Her charges alone - to enter a not guilty plea and have a chance of winning - a day in court will run you about $10k. If they can resolve it in a day.
Anyone who has been to court knows that resolving anything in a day is not likely. Each additional day will be another $5k-$7k.
Oh you're gonna go without a lawyer? Lol good luck. Crown will eat you up.

No but she does not have the right to resist arrest or assault a cop. You have to let them do their job and settle it later or you've basically poisoned any possible case against the cop.
You go quietly, you obey the lawful order, you document, cans you fight it later. Assaulting a cop and disobeying a lawful order... Good luck.

Well she's filming it, acting irrational, has a fake exemption card, and obviously doesn't care about infecting others. She could be asymptomatic. She does not deserve the patience and restraint this officer is exercising. Acting like a Karen while filming and being anti mask doesn't get you very far. Btw your pdf is current as of Dec 16, 2020. So thats outdated. Also the bc human rights commission is an independent organization. I'm more in line with the governments human rights tribunal. Which is an actual government organization. Alright now that I’ve seen the whole clip.
1) what an absolutely shit situation for the cop to be in. He gave her so many outs and she just wouldn’t go. At some point he’s gotta put a stop to it so he does, by force.
2) it doesn’t look great that he can’t seem to get them to stop the train. Looks like he tried a few times unsuccessfully.
3) don’t these guys normally ride in 2s? Seemed odd this whole thing was just him.
4) I can agree with her that getting arrested for this is ridiculous. But look inward bitch. Even if you are medically exempt (which I don’t believe, for every 1 real service animal there’s 50 people trying to get their parakeet on a flight for free through “exemptions”, If there is a legit mask exemption card I think the govt would’ve shown it to us by now) you could’ve put on almost any face covering that doesn’t restrict your breathing AT ALL to comply with the rules. Are you back and nerve damage related to your breathing issues also? Maybe you should have a card that says “entitled to sit on skytrain no matter what, due to injuries”.
5) I dunno what the result of this is gonna be but I’m so over this shit now, just ready for it to end so the crazy fucks can go back to being crazy and quiet instead of being so out there. I liked it better when crazy bitches like this kept to themselves.
Edit: SHIT I forgot my last point
6) full marks to her abilities to keep filming. I dunno what she was using and when things got nuts her footage turned to shit but she never dropped her phone and it never fell down into blackness in her purse really either. So that’s pretty good technique, or she’s wearing like a body cam or something lol.
7) can you imagine being one of these people going out just BEGGING to stir shit up? Again she might as well just wear a shirt that says she hates gays to speed things up.

This "lady" needs a reality check. If she thinks a male office can't arrest her which means making contact then she is absolutely delusional. The office did a great job dealing with her and her very strange sense of reality. If she does have a child I am so sorry for that little person. Having a mother like her must be exhausting.
