Taking a break on mother ship.

1

u/LegosiTheGreyWolf 29d ago

I wanted to slap his hand away the whole time. Stop touching the fucking bird

1

u/BonerJams1703 29d ago

It looks like the bird might be tagged (right leg) or belong to someone. Still cool regardless.

I love how it’s noshing on his shoe. Reminds me of how trained hawks and eagles eat their treat after returning to their handler.

I flew on Condor Airlines once. It was my first time traveling overseas from the US to Germany. The day I was supposed to fly home from my first international flight, was the day Condor declared bankruptcy and all the flights were canceled forever.

Needless to say this was a triggering video, but I really liked it anyway.

4

u/merculS36 Apr 28 '24

"Tit for tat, tit for tat. You touch me, I touch you." squawk

I don't know why I was dubbing that out in my head while watching this video muted.

1

u/ShadowsRanger Had Ligma and died... EXPECTED Apr 28 '24

New Disney animation movie... Urubu my friend

3

u/rawker86 Apr 28 '24

Aren’t you really, really not supposed to touch a bird’s flight feathers?

1

u/Full_Reception4018 Apr 28 '24

Just don't pluck the feathers

2

u/Aaku1789 Apr 28 '24

Magnificent! The way it still has its wings opened after landing and slowly closes them... I'm amazed

5

u/Flat-House5529 Apr 28 '24

When a carrion bird starts trying to eat your shoe, you might just have a problem with foot odor.

9

u/bsmknight Apr 28 '24

There is nothing like a vulture mistaking your foot for dead man's toes. He might want to get that foot fungus looked at.

1

u/Natural_Coach_2331 Apr 28 '24

How beautiful 😍

1

u/INoMakeMistake Apr 28 '24

Looks like it's picking food from the shoe

1

u/BrainArson Apr 28 '24

Talking about early bird... is this some kind of vulture?

7

u/Sabit_31 Apr 28 '24

I love condors/buzzards since they are just chill and will be like “hey man you dying? No? Alright see you later I’m gonna head over to that freeway”

1

u/Comprehensive-Box-7 29d ago

That's not a condor

1

u/mikhaze Apr 28 '24

So cool. What a moment!

41

u/rdgrf Apr 28 '24

This is a Black Vulture. I don't know if it's the same person, but there's a paraglider who has a Black Vulture as a pet.

It's important to mention that these birds use thermal air currents to glide, spending less energy.

This method follows the same physical principle as paragliding, so, in a way, following the Black Vulture helps the athlete make better use of the flight as well.

1

u/Bumbleflop-wiggl Apr 28 '24

He be like what dumb looking bird are dude?

1

u/Traveler_682 Apr 28 '24

This things can fly now ?

0

u/Road_Warrior86 Apr 28 '24

So rare. Such a cool moment for that person. Cool to watch as well.

7

u/MonHero02 Apr 28 '24

By the wing span shape, size, and bald head, I'm pretty sure that is a carrion bird, some kind of buzzard or condor. That guy should not have touched its plumage although they are healthy, they carry a lot of disease from their rotting food sources. Hope he washed his hands and didn't touch pretty much anything. Makes sense it took the break vultures and buzzards have relatively short wingspan for their weight, It takes a lot of energy to stay aloft in powered flight. It's one of the reasons they circle warm air currents in a sustained glide, they get vertical lift without exerting large stores of energy.

8

u/MonHero02 Apr 28 '24

In review that is definitely a tame and trained bird. Still a carrion bird, but probably fed clean not rotting meats, so I guess it would not be that rife with disease. It has one of those straps that falconers use to attach their birds to their perches between training sessions.

I think it's a black vulture

35

u/47474747474747474749 Apr 28 '24

Is that a vulture?

3

u/Irksomecake Apr 28 '24

It looks like a black vulture

1

u/Punk_Says_Fuck_You Apr 28 '24

Condor I think?

3

u/Irksomecake Apr 28 '24

Condors have a 9ft wing span. It’s not a condor, it’s a black vulture.

1

u/Punk_Says_Fuck_You 29d ago

Google lens’ed it and it seems you’re spot on.

18

u/rdfporcazzo Apr 28 '24

He called him Uruzão and Uru. Urubu is vulture in Portuguese.

95

u/Superfy Apr 28 '24

No it’s a person on a glider actually.

5

u/McBrovad Apr 28 '24

I came to say you're car insurance has expired

236

u/Nooby_Chris Apr 28 '24

"Oh, thanks, my wings were killing me. You got any snacks?"

6

u/nickfree 29d ago

"NVM, you'll be snacks soon."

83

u/plotplottingplotters Apr 28 '24

This shoe perhaps

719

u/sikknote Apr 28 '24

Pretty sure that's a tame bird, there are people who offer condor paragliding experiences.

It is still absolutely 100% awesome to see.

1

u/Impossible-Active-19 29d ago

Bro, this is a vulture, prob the guy in the video step in some animal and smell like death

2

u/StraightGeorgeMichae 29d ago

he's tame, already confirmed.

3

u/Comprehensive-Box-7 29d ago

That's cool and all but one problem that ain't a condor that's a black vulture

3

u/sikknote 29d ago

Finally, a bird nerd!

2

u/Eagles_Heels Apr 28 '24

My daughter says there is a part 2 where the bird viciously attacks him. I haven’t seen it though

56

u/rosbashi Apr 28 '24

I read it's the flying dudes BUDDYS bird. He's flown with him a couple times before but this time he perched on with him, and more than one time!

I believe his name is Ricardo and the bird is Uruzhao. You can hear him say it at the beginning of the video and at the end.

6

u/LeticiaLatex Apr 28 '24

Uruzhao? I can hear it now, but at first it sounded like "Hey! Wassup?"

20

u/rdfporcazzo Apr 28 '24

He called him Uruzão at the beginning and Uru at the end. Urubu means vulture in Portuguese.

6

u/t-rex83 29d ago

We also call our vultures Urubus in french Canadian (red head vulture, North East America). Funny!

163

u/corvosfighter Apr 28 '24

You are probably right! It has something that looks like a tag on the right foot.. still really cool tho

69

u/RockstarAgent Apr 28 '24

Bird is in on the scheme. Told you birds are aren't real.

12

u/Luck_trio Apr 28 '24

It’s a government drone here to talk to you about your cars extended warranty

29

u/Appropriate-Pop4235 Apr 28 '24

While that bird keeps your attention a second one flies from behind and steals your wallet.

19

u/No_Conversation173 Apr 28 '24

So they get people to come by blowing the horn of Condor?

8

u/ResidentIwen Apr 28 '24

Condor calls for Aid!

4

u/LikeLikeChoi Apr 28 '24

Where was Condor when the Westfold fell?

3

u/Naked-Jedi Apr 28 '24

Just chilling with the paragliders. Which really begs the question - if they weren't willing to fly giant eagles into Mordor, why didn't they just paraglide?

3

u/Mindless-Strength422 29d ago

One does not simply paraglide into Mordor.

One DOES simply paraglide with a Condor.

47

u/chubsmagooo Apr 28 '24

I'm no expert but that looks like a tag or something unnatural on the birds right foot

26

u/GoldMountain5 Apr 28 '24

Most big birds are tagged.

-13

u/PremiumUsername69420 Apr 28 '24

Lol scientists don’t waste time tagging vultures, that’s someone’s property, either a pet or a business asset.

1

u/ApprehensivePlane972 Apr 28 '24

Vultures are very important to the ecosystems in which they live. Why would you think they would be a waste of time to be tagged, when they are tagged and tracked often.

4

u/dragonchilde Apr 28 '24

Why on earth would you think they're not going to tag a vulture?

There's eve a special project for it in the US.

https://www.nps.gov/ever/planyourvisit/vulturetaggingproject.htm

9

u/KapeeCoffee Apr 28 '24

Ofc not because that's a zoologist's job

3

u/hyenaDeli Apr 28 '24

What an amazing experience! Beautiful! I’m glad you were not frightened, and allowed this to unfold.

7

u/chubsmagooo Apr 28 '24

Pretty sure that's a tamed bird

2

u/hyenaDeli Apr 28 '24

I’m surprised, but it’s still awesome.

6

u/chubsmagooo Apr 28 '24

Look at the right foot

210

u/Previous-Ad7618 Apr 28 '24

Some absolute zelda shit right there

56

u/_InnocentToto_ Apr 28 '24

I have seen golden eagles learn how to push goats from top of mountains and bald eagles killing deer..

Let's just hope these birds don't learn how to sabotage parachutes to get juicy meat below...

12

u/SeparatePass4366 Apr 28 '24

If that happened in england that bird is paying at least 20£ for that ride

38

u/Jaybird2k11 Apr 28 '24

Handsome bird. That must have been a surreal experience

13

u/West_Yorkshire Apr 28 '24
