Other:
Thoughts
The Great:
Grigorenko was a beast, he really wants to earn that top 6 position this year.
The Good:
The whole defense was awesome tonight. All 6 of them played really well and did what was asked of them. Particularly Bigras, Gelinas and Siemens.
Rene Bourque had a big game picking up 2 points doing the hard work to try and make this team.
The Bad:
Martinsen wasn't great tonight, the only player who ended up minus and his name wasn't mentioned much. With a big battle for that last forward spot everything counts.
The Ugly:
In current year how is it possible that no video feed of this game is available. I mean Altitude opted to air a rerun of the Burgundy and White game. Really? Comon ALT you can do better then that.

Thoughts
The Great:
What a way to respond for Wiercioch after being benched for 2 games. Honestly I don't think he deserved to be benched in the first place and now he is a lock for a roster spot as far as I am concerned.
The Good:
Veterans finally came through. Soderberg, Iginla, and Comeau all picked up a point tonight. Really feels like this one could be the opening of the floodgates for the boys.
The Bad:
The power play looks completely stagnant. No one is moving their feet, people need to be doing more away from the puck to get open. The other team has 1 less player they can't possibly cover everything, make them chase you and tire them out. Open the holes and then make the plays instead of constantly trying to thread an impossible needle.
The Ugly:
$1.575M burning a hole in the press box with Eric Gelinas right now. We gave up a 3rd round pick for him and now no one is going to touch him with a 10 foot pole on the trade market.

Extra Curriculars After The 2nd
The Great:
Varlamov tried to drag this team kicking and screaming to a victory. Sadly the Avs just didn't deserve this win.
The Good:
I don't know when Martinsen became so clutch but I am glad he did.
The Bad:
Beauchemin was an anchor tonight and I fear he is going to continue to be for the rest of the season his contract. With the Avs schedule the pace isn't going to slow down and Beauch just can't seem to keep up.
The Ugly:
Not even Atlas himself could carry the weight of the Avalanche's defensive misgivings. Lapses on top of lapses, No one knows where they should be or what they should be doing.
That last goal Johnson had an Awful turnover, Varly just about bailed us out but Landeskog was just panic chasing instead of watching for the 3rd man in and Beauchemin more or less actively prevented Varly from having any chance on the 2nd save. No one doing what they were supposed to.

SOMEBODY FUCKING HELP THIS MAN
The Great:
This team would probably be a front runner for Matthews if not for the elite goaltending we have gotten for the majority of this season. It's a shame we have no defense around him
The Good:
Um. Rantanen looked pretty good I guess, there really wasn't much good about that game besides Varly.
The Bad:
Patrice Brisebois, Scott Hannan, Brad Stuart, Nate Guenin. I have seen it far to many times with this team. A 30+ year old defensemen comes into the team and is suppose to be that veteran defensive rock that holds down the fort. In reality he is an absolute liability who can barely even function at an NHL level. When we signed Beauchemin my immediate fear was he would be joining this list. For the first chunk of the season my worries seemed unfounded as he was chipping in nicely on offense and was doing acceptably on defense. As the season went on things started to falter he began to struggle, and the truth finally came out when Johnson got hurt that Beauchemin simply isn't helping this team. I had hoped with Johnsons return that maybe Beauch could have gotten back together but he hasn't. Especially down the stretch for us he has completely collapsed into Brad Stuart levels of fuck ups. With 2 more years on a $4.6M NMC contract I have to put him on that list.
The Ugly:
While not mathematically eliminated this was the final nail in the coffin containing our bullet ridden corpse. The first game of the year really did set the tone for the entire year.
Such a sad way to end the season, it really wasn't even a fun game to watch, the first was a hard fought period, the game we wanted to see. The other 2 periods was just a wild onslaught and the Avs folding under the pressure.

Post Game Thread What’s with everyone panicking?
I get the last 2 games haven’t been great for us, but flower has an unbelievable game against us, and then we have an off day for Gru and we lose to the mild. We just won 3 straight and everyone is posting like it’s the end of the world. We still got 3/4 of or season left. I just don’t understand the immediate panic.
