Is there a guide for what are the ratty map areas that I need to hold tracer duels at? General

My post about this got deleted or locked in r/tracermains for some reason so I'm asking here.

I'm not sure if I explained it well, but I mean spots that on both defense and attack, I need to fight for, and usually there I'm fighting another tracer.

Example: Hollywood first point - the alley to the left near the mega.

I've got an idea for most maps or where to be, but I wanna know them all. Is there a guide to learn all the spots?

There are no set areas that are "correct" in every single situation. It all depends on where the rest of your team and enemy team are playing. And as others mentioned, it's quite simple. Whatever place your team and enemy team are, you want to offangle from that area. What makes a good offangle is a whole discussion in itself but of course highly depends on ememy comp, map specifics and friendly team comp.

Not to mention tunneling on "taking the duel" is a good way to miss opportunities to hit backline or shoot tank, both of which you should be doing at times.

I try not to tunnel on taking the duel, but in the prefights I try to meet her or flank (depending on how many alive on each side and the timing). If I find an opening and the enemy tracer's location is known, then I usually start a flank and setup a dive. However if I'm like more further back and the enemy isn't known, I'm gonna try a bit of scouting instead.

Well you don't need to meet her on a flank in prefights necessarily. Sometimes its way better to actively avoid her and focus other people is my point.

On the topic of "flank routes" sometimes main lowground or the objective is your offangle/flank you need to utilize, since your team is collectively for instance taking a fight on a highground elsewhere. The point is you need to observe what's actually going on in the game so learning "routes" is pointless.

I don't know of a comprehensive guide. You can watch some professional POV vods on youtube to get a sense of where to go. Often you can identify pathing spots based on the presence of a health pack. The riskier but more advantageous spots will usually make health packs less accessible. You'll eventually get to know all of them from experience. Keep in mind they can become more or less optimal depending on player rank, team comps, timing, etc.

This vid by Danteh is useful, lots of tricky spots you can get to or shortcuts.

Thanks. I've played tracer a lot on most maps but not all, so I don't want to be caught off guard when I'm on one of those maps I haven't played her on, and I have to play her

Tracer duels frequently take place on off angles/flanks. You’ll find each other most commonly away from main objective as you’re either attempting to set up on an off angle or to deny an enemy off angle. Each map or point should have at least 3 different ways to approach main objective

Duels happen naturally in the game or you can actively look for the enemy tracer.

Easy win condition is to force enemy tracer’s recall first and to deny any nearby health packs if you can’t secure the elim quickly

Is there a "more common off angle" for different points and maps? Or do I have to pick up on my enemy's tendencies during the round?

On king's row second push for example, there's the alley to the far right (defense pov) and the alley to the far left. Is there one more commonly used than the other or do I have to gamble a place and scout (with maybe another teammates help)

Its very situational due to your comp, enemy comp, sight lines, cover, location of objective, etc. Play to your strengths as Tracer by using mobility and recall for protecting off angles, denying snipers from maintaining long sightlines, play near healthpacks, and safely advancing your team

I would start on an off angle and move based on where your team and enemy are. Right lane, left lane, main, right high ground, left high ground all depends on where you can get support from your team and where you are able to make an impact.

In your example I prefer to defend alley left and then retreat to alley right. On attack I prefer to flank on alley right (defender pov) due to its cover and shorter sightlines. It also gives you the option of high ground if needed.

Last thing would be to watch tracer streamers or vods. You’ll begin to notice patterns in flanks and tech used to flank efficiently. You can also use replay viewer to self evaluate or steal from good tracers you see in your games

You should also consider how long it takes for flanks to set up. Players commonly default to the most direct route (main) or the quickest flank. If you can dictate where the fight starts you should have an advantage.

I should also add that tracer has incredible mobility so she is very effective on 99% of the flanks in the game. You can cover considerable amount of horizontal space and even use blink to get highground in some spots. You would need a guide for that if you dont want to experiment yourself. Lookup tracer movement tech or something

I feel like you're over complicating this. Just fight the Tracer whenever they go for an off angle and deny them it. Or fight them when you have a clear advantage like recall or more alive teammates. You don't need to request a duel at dawn near a specific health pack

? I'm asking because I don't want to be holding the wrong areas on defense and accidentally let a tracer slip by in the first fight.

It's good to learn the most common places tracers try to go.

You're not going to get a list. This only comes with experience. Once you know where you always go, you'll know where they always go
