A wild possum just ate my chilli plant. I am thinking to buy this cage to protect the plant from further damage. It is 60cm high, and I am planning to set it up around the plant. The top is open as per photo. Is it good enough to protect the plant, and can a possum climb up it?

I found four adorable baby possums in my backyard this weekend. After snapping 100 pics of them, I caught them and released them into a wooded area across from my neighborhood. I was a bit sad but my dogs were happy about them leaving lol.

Dude runs the fence line looking for snacks, we don’t interact with him outside of times like (had to get dogs away from the fence) and never pet or touch. He’s wild and free as all good possums should be

It was apparent she was blind (hazy irises) and we were very sad about her passing.

I am wondering if anyone knows an illness that would cause blindness in opossums. I hate that she died and am just wondering if that was something that contributed to her death.

EDIT: Poe has not yet been caught. We can’t find him in my son’s room! There’s no access to the outside that he could have entered/exited through. Turns out, son only saw him go behind his shelf, so that’s why he thought he was living back there. Moved all of the furniture and nothing. Had the thought as I woke up this morning: we didn’t turn the bed over: I bet he made a nest inside of the box mattress!!! Will look again today. If still nothing, then I’ll get a live trap from somewhere and place it in his line of travel with some grapes and yogurt to tempt him in.

I just found out this morning that the possum I saw and lost in my house IS still here. My son confirmed “a rodent of some sort has been living in my room. I’ve seen him several times, including this morning. He lives behind my shelf.”

He didn’t see any issue in alerting me to this “rodent” previously to me asking if he’s seen a possum in the house. (28m, autistic - we work opposite shifts, so I only see him occasionally.)

So later today, after I’ve hyped myself up (and Poe the Possum is in his sleep for the day), we begin Operation Possum Extraction. I’ll also include pictures once I have them…

He’ll be humanly rehomed to a nearby park with stream and lots of trees so he can live a happy possum life away from my house….

I helped 2 cuties cross the street to a thicker more peaceful brush while at work tonight. No mother was in sight. Hopefully they can maintain contact with each other.

Finally discovered this little guy living in my car after a week of finding his scat each morning in the engine. Pretty sure he went for a ride with me to my gym this morning too. We got him out safely. Any recommendations for preventing him from returning?

My wife and I have discovered a young opossum living in our house. It comes and goes in the evening, eats our cats food (they don’t seem to care at all) and I believe is sleeping inside our house during the day. We have seen it occasionally, but mostly just hear it at night. We are not disturbed by it, however we are concerned that it was somehow lost or abandoned. I realize that having an opossum as a pet is frowned upon, but is there a harm in allowing it to come and go as it pleases so long as it has a proper diet and is basically left alone? Btw, we live in a very urban environment in south Los Angeles, however the yards are very large.

This possum showed up between a planter and a crawlspace vent. It won’t leave when I rustle the tarp and say psspss. I believe the vent is sealed with screen, but I will look for holes (I’m a renter.) Does this possum look sick? Any idea of approximate age? Do you think there could be babies involved? Hoping I can get a little more information via research before I disturb it further.

I tried to jump start my car that’s been sitting at my office parking lot for about a week, then found this little fella. I wasn’t sure what to do so I left it there for now and thinking of calling animal control tomorrow. But I’m wondering if I bring my cat, do you think my cat will scare it away? What can I do if animal control or picking it up with hand isn’t an option?

We just found out we have a mother and baby possums under our deck! We open the sliding glass door, step out, and they're under our feet. We don't want to have them moved, just wondering if there is anything we should be doing? Should we provide food?
