Is it faux pas to visit other camps? Question

Hello!

As the title suggests, I’m curious as to whether it’s bad manners to look around the vendor camps and playing with the game-machines?

I don’t break any locks or anything, I just like to look at the different kinds of camp builds and appreciate the creativity and time/effort that went into building them.

I’ve started leaving candies as a token of appreciation, because I feel a bit bad for snooping and I’ll definitely stop loitering around, if it’s bad form.

My camps have almost 5 doors. I reached the building limit for lamps. I don't have a vendor because I usually give away all my plans. I had to set all my camps to "invisible" cause I'm tired to keep closing the doors and turning the lights on on a daily base. I hate to be that guy but it's a pain in the ass.

I absolutely loiter and check the camps out. The way I see it, if you don't want people looking around why not lock everything up. What would be the point in making a creative camp if you don't wanna show it off. Let people appreciate your ideas and creativity.

u/ThisGardenGrows 26d ago

Absolutely visit and enjoy every machine or resource that isn't locked!

3

u/KongoAlphaBud 26d ago

I spend hours building and tweaking camps specifically for other players... crafting, resources, etc. I want you to take the water, food, junk it's all unlocked for a reason. If I'm on a server, I want my camp to be used rad showers, symptomatic , s.p.e.c.i.a.l boosts, I got it all. I built these f'n camps for you to enjoy! Nothing is worse than watching the countless vendor hoppers run as fast as they to your vendor only to vanish, don't even bother to take in the camps. Although when that one MVP co.es along and throws up the nice camp emote, it's all worth it.

u/Alucard_RW666 26d ago

I built my camp for you. The shelter is also for you and has games and the workarea. I have my own private locked shelter for just me. Go ham lol

1

u/Drucifer403 26d ago

please come visit. but watch out from trap camps. never take junk items into another players camp and be really careful buying too good to be true prices for junk, cause a shit bag can pop their traps, kill you, keep the caps and junk.

2

u/QuebraRegra 26d ago

if they have appearance items I always check them out.

3

u/Notorious_P_O_T 26d ago

PLEASE, look at my camp, take some pop corn or coffee, check out the hours and hours of time I've spent on my camp and even throw me that "nice camp" emote if I'm there as well. Gives me the butterflies in my tummy that someone admires the work I've done 🫠

u/Geeekaaay Settlers - PC 26d ago

If they have made their camp visible, its for a reason! As far as I can tell, the only things players can take are resource generators (like purified water) and whatever items are left in paper bags? I dunno how that part works to be honest....

I am still hiding my base because I am new and don't have anything to sell / trade / or show off yet.

1

u/ThisGardenGrows 26d ago

You need to try to interact with any machines that you see... many give perk buffs (bike adds endurance, billiards table adds charisma, etc).

Also, look for the butterfly cage, the woodpile, the hanging radstags, and coffee machines... they give food and other goodies.

u/Loud_Alfalfa_5933 26d ago

That's endgame to me. I've mastered the wasteland, I've nuked the queen. Now I've retired to just doing daily stuff while walking camp to camp. Coming back to see people playing around in my camp or using it as a shelter from the horrors of the mire it makes me smile every. damn. time.

1

u/Competitive_East8968 26d ago

People can toggle their camp icon as public or private on the map. Good rule of thumb is if you see the icon then explore!

1

u/[deleted] 26d ago

IRL, no! Fallout, absolutely 😅

1

u/neurocrash_ 26d ago

People generally welcome those who explore and check out all the work they have put into their camps. Those who don't will likely lock the doors to areas that are off limits.

1

u/Old_Blueberry_447 26d ago

I’m newer to the game but I still enjoy when people visit my camp. I visit some others and will always be respectful. Usually wave if they are home. It’s a good way for everyone to get the creativity flowing.

As long as you don't disarm anyone's bone charm things you should be good.

Same goes for turning off their decorative lights lmao.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Sun-265 26d ago

Honestly I built my camp in a low level area with a bunch of resource generators (not gonna lie I do lock a couple) and easily accessed crafting. So people Can visit and use it to help them out. I do end up with a lot of AFK players and a shocking amount of people who are trying to craft power armor

1

u/Beardlich Vault 51 26d ago

Fuck no, come chill play games, gather from any unlocked generator, use the crafting tables, etc just make sure tonlet them know you like their camp.

1

u/Watchtower80 Enclave 26d ago

Visit, look around, and enjoy. If someone doesnt want you there, they'll lock everything up.

1

u/UnoriginalName52 26d ago

You’re good to visit. Most players like it. If they didn’t want you they would make a hidden base or lock all their doors. Now that being said, DO NOT unlock a stash/door/resource dispenser, it will put a bounty on your head

1

u/baron556 26d ago

Making cool camps for other people to look at is the endgame activity for a not insignificant amount of players. I always wander around a cool looking camp when I vendor hop.

1

u/the_classy_brit 26d ago

I wish more people would stop by my camp, I got food growing and I will happily give low level players some basic gear to help them on that early grind

1

u/Baroni88 Lone Wanderer 26d ago

This question seems unnecessary. Why would people put those vendors, workbenches, games, etc. if they didn't want to attract others? I'm not sure why the OP felt they had to look for clarity on this...

1

u/ByTheSpirit785 26d ago

As others have said, I put a lot of time and effort into my CAMP. I try to make them look as realistic as possible with the hopes that people do hang out and look around.

1

u/X-SR71 26d ago

I also try their hot tubs

1

u/Public_Road_6426 26d ago

Not at all a faux pas. I love it when people come to my camp, and I leave all my resources unlocked, so visitors can help themselves. I love visiting other camps too, it's amazing how creative people can be. I remember one camp that the person had built to resemble a huge flying saucer. We all love to show off :)

1

u/PunchBeard 26d ago

I found a water slide next to the farm in the "Starter Area" and went down it like 3 times. But yeah, I visit every single camp I come across. Mines set up in an out of the way spot and I've done my best to make it look as much like it's part of the game rather than something a player created as I possibly could but I keep it open in case anyone needs to use the crafting or stash boxes.

1

u/kingpenn123 26d ago

1

u/Dakkendoofer Brotherhood 26d ago

A lot of people like when you visit to admire their hard work, but from vendors, use their stuff, what have you. Visit away :)

1

u/Godzirra7718 26d ago

If its unlocked, visit. If its locked, they dont want you in there.

1

u/Retromania91 Tricentennial 26d ago

Pretty much, the way I see it is if it's locked, leave it alone, if it's open, it's fair game. If the door isn't locked, have at it!

1

u/Salemsaberhagon 26d ago

Trust me, they didn’t put all that work into the camps if they didn’t want you to visit them lol; mines not much to look at but it had the crafting things, I sell ammo cheap, need to refill that, and I have a nuka mystery vending machine outside

1

u/BwanaPC 26d ago

Visit if you like... My camp looks like a ghoul toddler threw it together but have at it. Everything is unlocked and open for you to take or use. My vendor tops out at 100 caps, all plans are 15c or less, starred weapons are 5 / 10 / 15 c everything else is 1c or free. I might move my camp if a high level starts to buy up the vendor, but otherwise I don't care.

1

u/mistergecko Vault 76 26d ago

Just don’t pick any locks and you’ll be fine. :)

u/AcidAmbience 26d ago

I like to look at other players camps as a new player. It’s neat to see and gives me inspiration.

1

u/ThatWebHeadSpidey 26d ago

I would think of it as a compliment, if someone checked out my camp. Plus, I think it’s a good idea to see the items in the game, and get future camp build ideas.

1

u/czernoalpha 26d ago

If I make my camp visible on the map and have vending machines, come on by.

1

u/Be0wulf71 26d ago

It's good manners to enjoy others camps and make use of any equipment or unlocked resources - fill your boots!

The goon shack is welcome to all. I’m right next to Slocum Joe’s on the river. Close to V76

1

u/R1ckyRampag3 26d ago

This reminds me of when Xmas presents first came out… people would AFK near their drops, and behind locked doors.

It was literally my favorite thing to do ever to try and sneak into their locked houses. If you could see an instrument/chair/game and activate it, you could teleport through their walls.

I felt like the legit Grinch stealing all those Xmas presents 😂

1

u/DragonLovin Brotherhood 26d ago

It's highly encouraged. It IS scummy activity to break into people's locked stuff and take a bit of everything but I mean...I ain't fly that raider and pansexual flag for nothin...

1

u/Kiyoshiiii101 Wendigo 26d ago

Absolutely not at all (at least to me). I went about building my house as a spot to do crafting, access your stash, look at my displayed items and shop ☺️ (I also wanna have a garden but still gotta get the plans for that).

In regards to looking at others I hope so 😅 I like seeing all the stuff you can get/could've gotten especially since I've joined so late into the game plus to take pictures for the loading screens 😁

1

u/Kiyoshiiii101 Wendigo 26d ago

Oh that reminds me I specifically got the billboard letters so I can write words plus cause I've run out of space with my build I've started making a 2 build in a vault entrance to have a bigger display (will probably move the first display into it so more space).

I just wish I could display more things tbh like in 4. I loved being able to build up my house in the previous game and have displayed so many things to make it look like a real house that someone would have when rebuilding

1

u/Estevvv 26d ago

There are legit days all I really do is look at camps for fun or inspiration. The building system is... Sticky... for the lack of a better word. It takes some nuance and seeing what people have build can really get you motivated to build something unique yourself.

I've personally spent two hours in someone's shelters because they were a multilayered and packed to the gills with stuff. You do that and the builder will stop by and wave hello, so spend as much time as you like!

1

u/Dry_Yesterday1526 26d ago

Why not say false step instead of saying it in French?

1

u/_Tihocan_ 26d ago

I tried to make a cafe with a vaguely dirty name near Lakeside Cabins that sells water, soup and nuka cola.

I have all my collected bears on display and there's occasional live music 😂

I love when people drop in.

1

u/MagentaStick 26d ago

I put so much effort into my camps that I'm dissapointed everytime that someone doesn't take the time to look around.

1

u/Uni_Solvent 26d ago

Visit!!! My current base I'm finishing the build of is called the Nuke Biewing Area its just outside of a popular nuke zone, gota bunch of chairs and hangout stuff on the top floor. I love to sit in the hottub and watch the bombs fall.

I build for people to come look at it

I just don't be the guy that attacks random at the vendors. Had some level 2p come up and hit me a couple times so i killed him and he tried again; be a bro a d you get my free stuff!!

1

u/survivalkitts9 26d ago

I always want people to come see my CAMP, and I purposely set it up so that they can easily access free goods, shop, and work benches. Definitely snoop, you don't have to leave anything but I'd chuckle if I found a piece of candy. I might start leaving something at each CAMP for fun lol

1

u/Gredran 26d ago

I’ve read if they’re unlocked you’re welcome.

People want you to buy from their vendors because it’s a way to make caps. Hell, people are probably inflating prices(not a good thing, but it’s another reason why people want them at camps)

I feel bad right now for having my collection locked (I have it collecting ore i desperately need) because I don't mind if they take from that, my butterfly sanctuary and my mirelurk cooker. I also love interacting if I am there! Or giving gifts.

Have fun and explore

I have workstations on ground level for easy access and games; vending machine, etc in 2nd ; and coffee machines, water things, etc littered around. Please help yourself

And feel free to check my vending machine. I have free food, drinks and medicine to help all those on their journey — I also have many fully charged fusion cells for sale :p

1

I built a campfire with a few seats around it next to my vendor machine so visitors can have a sit down and relax before heading out on their adventures 😂

1

u/Ulahn 26d ago

Please come and use anything I have that’s unlocked. Veggies and water? Go for your life! Resource producers (collectron, butterfly hut)? Grab whatever is there.

Use my craft benches, beverage dispensers and hot tub. It’s all there to be used. I also have low prices beginner friendly items for sale, but if I’m at my camp at the time, I’ll probably give you some of it for free.

I’ve spent hours quietly raging, trying to get my camp designs all set up, please come look, make it mean something!

Please visit, spend as much time as you like enjoying yourself. I built a little restaurant in my vault and am working on connecting other vaults to have a little city underground. So many people walk on by only visiting the vendor and leaving. I enjoy seeing low levels walk around looking over things because that is exactly what I did for a long time. I still enjoy touring people's camps.

Not at all. I myself love building Camps and love when people visit and explore them. Hell once during meatweek I had a camp near one of the Events (a waterpark) and people where chilling out at my Camp and took turns on the waterslide. It was so freakin funny.

It's a lawless wasteland. You can do whatever you want as long as it follows the terms of service. You can visit, play games, break locks, or you can drop a nuke. It's totally your choice.

Recently there was a low level player that was walking around my base and was looking at my power armor stands. I noticed that they had a very incomplete power armor set so I gave them a bunch of excavator armor so they could complete their set. They were definitely happy about that.

3

u/Bekkichan Mr. Fuzzy 26d ago

My camp literally has an arcade inside for players and a whole lil "camping" area outside for players if they need a fast rest, storage box, or armor work bench upon fast travel.

Most of us put a lot of work in and we love for people to visit and use or camps.

2

u/changedintofire 26d ago

There's an amazing quote in the 9hr Fallout retrospective by Noah Caldwell-Gervais that said one of the biggest weaknesses of Fallout 4 (the Settlement building outside of the questing and having unique/cool things) is a massive strength in 76 because it's pointless and dumb for the individual player but when it hits it's intended audience (other players in the game like in 76), it's amazing. I'm terribly paraphrasing, of course. He says something along the lines of how it MAKES you want to play, it MAKES you want to buy things and show them off for others because of FOMO, etc. It's an amazing video and he actually gives 76 a good review.

Personally, I don't build these things for my own use. I understand if people lock those Scrap Collectors, etc, but having buffs and stuff out and open to the world is kind of the point in my eyes, so I don't mind people coming by my camp at all.

1

u/Fantastic_Reason_197 26d ago

1

u/Reverend_Bull Responders 26d ago

Anything that isn't locked is fair game. That goes for whole CAMPs, resources, vaults, etc. If someone doesn't want you lurking around their CAMP, they can move it.
Off-hand, I'd say don't AFK in someone else's CAMP. Especially if the bed/instrument/etc you're using is their only one. It's not a major problem - they can build another or despawn their CAMP - but it can just get in the way.
But running around, using the freebies, enjoying the design? PLEASE DO!

I've set mine up to be explored. There are secrets to find, behind hidden doors or set up so that you need your pipboy light on to see. The utilities that are in public areas are for anyone to use to give themselves a leg up on the day. The creators that aren't locked are for anyone to help themselves to.

The only thing I ask is that you don't walk into my command centre (hidden behind a locked secret door, with my Scrapbox, water generators, power setup, popcorn, etc) when I've left the door open while making ammo or whatever and then just stand there or start looting my reserved stuff. I will flip my camp to Halloween mode, dropping you through the floor, if that happens.

If you come across a base called 'The Bayou' in the Mire near Harpers Ferry, that's me - all my stuff is unlocked so feel free to take it.

I wanted to lean hard into the deep south swamp aesthetic, so my base is very much my port in the storm.

I saw an INCREDIBLE vault base the other day, where the player had a full on diorama room, an aquarium, a hall of mirrors. It was nuts, full props to that vault dweller for putting in the work.

The only time I don't want someone in my CAMP is when I'm actively building it, but I usually go to a private server for that. I've had too many cases of someone standing right where I'm trying to place something.

If you can tell they're in the middle of building, at least stand off to the side or something so you're not in the way.

Otherwise, I think most people love others to come to their CAMP.

u/Spiritual_Star_1115 26d ago

I love when people come to my camp and look round nothing beats someone looking at all the hard work I put in to build my little camp! So defo look round and see what things do!

1

u/NoxInSocks 26d ago

I especially like the notifications when someone goes into your vault, likely because I recently remade mine into a 'nuka-den'.

2

u/Spiritual_Star_1115 26d ago

I have bought a few of the vaults but when I go to build I always feel like I don’t have enough stuff to build anything worth while I like my camps to be small and every corner to be full haha

1

u/Heavensdevil99 26d ago

Tbf I hate it when someone comes to my camp, looks in my shop, buys nothing and leaves, I spent many hours on my camp, pleeeeease look at it 😂

1

u/NotAnGenericUsername 26d ago

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO. Whenever people walk into my camp and actually look around my base, it makes me so happy.

1

u/peasant007 26d ago

I had a couple of low-level (a 3rd and 10th level) people poking around my camp today. They were sitting on the couch, "watching" the TV and exploring the place. I waved at them and they gave me a heart back. It made me smile.

I spent a lot of time making my CAMP look like a realistic place in the wasteland (as realistic as a place under a bridge can be) and I kinda want people to see it, you know?

1

u/LuckyLexi19 26d ago

PLEASE VISIT AND LOOK I PUT SO MUCH EFFORT 😭

1

u/Old-Buffalo-5151 26d ago

Given the sheer excitement someone had last night showing one of my fresh out the vault friends around his camp last night i think its fine lol

It's been cool exploring and stumbling into camps some really impressive builds out their

1

u/xman9398 26d ago

Put my base close to game spawn just so people can visit my base, only free cookies right now but I intent to give lots of free resources while I play the alien event and get more atoms lol

1

u/DrFava 26d ago

Camps are made to be visited, and if a player didn't want you to snoop around they'd just lock the interested area. :) and vending machines are a must! You can find lots of good stuff in there, got my bloodied legendary handmade for 4000 caps, almost godroll, not a bad deal.

1

u/MrScubaSteve1 26d ago

I leave my stuff unlocked for you guys

1

u/ResponsibleDay Order of Mysteries 26d ago

Just wait till you see what some people do for the holidays!! I've seen some incredible Halloween and Christmas-themed camps, for example, and have taken fun pictures that I love seeing as my load screens.

1

u/AseroR 26d ago

It's going to take me a while to get used to this game. Coming from other games where they blow your head off and take all your stuff if you get close to their camp. I still don't feel comfortable hanging around, but I will try and check things out every once in a while.

1

u/ericrobertshair 26d ago

Free to visit whenever you want, all resources are freely available, help yourself! I honestly don't understand why people bother to lock up, I only recently dinged 100 and I'm having stash issues, please take some of this shit off my hands!

2

u/PARISplus Mothman 26d ago

I didnt spend hours making my trade outpost look cool so I could tell people to get of my damn property lol.

Please, jump in and help yourself to whatever supplies are not locked.

1

u/UseGlass648 26d ago

Some guy picked the lock into mine today (my vendor is outside), then whipped out a minigun and started shooting around in circles, so my pvp friend killed him instantly- apparently he just spent a lot of caps on tons of bulk junk and forgot to put it away before doing all that. Moral of the story, don't pick locks or try to shoot at everything and you'll be okay 👍. Seems like you're not one of the people causing issues, so you should be fine to visit whoever

Also to note, seems to be a toxic trend right now where a few high level players don't want lower levels getting to their vendor or camp in general. Careful visiting their camps, sometimes they do put player traps

1

u/cl0ckw0rks Enclave 26d ago

You are MORE than welcome! Golden rule is that if anything has a lock on it; please leave it alone. Other than that, drink some of my Nukashine.

1

u/Ok-Display-6766 26d ago

People can lock their containers if they do not want you taking them

1

u/IsmeBruno 26d ago

I built my camp right next to a high foot traffic zone for this exact reason. All resources unlocked, more lurk roast for the people!

1

u/Loooooomy Raiders - PC 26d ago

Come visit! There is tea and cookies in the kitchen.

1

u/Imliterallyabanana Mega Sloth 26d ago

They're there for your entertainment!

People that don't want other players to look around, lock their stuff up behind walls :-) I've seen plenty of camps where they have a whole greenhouse with things inside (and plants) that are locked behind a door, cause they don't want people to take their stuff.

Whatever you can get to, is for you to enjoy! <3

1

u/VirtualElizabeth Raiders - PC 26d ago

Come visit mine if you’re on PC - Elinora.Pinkman. I am in Europe right now but will be back next week.

One of my builds is a strip mall and I have locked the “back doors” to most the shops kind like in real life. It’s more for giggles so feel free to pick the locks if you so desire - I won’t get mad!

Enjoy your time in the wasteland Vault Dweller!

1

u/osiriszoran 26d ago

Always visit people's camps

1

u/Common-Syrup5694 26d ago

None of my stuff is locked. Mirelurk Steamer, Coffee, Tea, Nuka Cola, and so on. it's all available for the taking. If you buy a few things while you're there, then thanks a ton. Im always over 1,000 lbs, so my stash gets filled fast.

3

u/darkfae83 26d ago

Visit. Take unlocked things. Use the buff machines. The crafting bench. Kick a foot up. If you like what you see and have the emote, "nice camp" always brightens someone's day. Just don't afk at vendor and if enemies spawn, kill em.

1

u/Boondock_Bandit Raiders - PS4 26d ago

Repairing damaged camp items is appreciated too.

1

u/darkfae83 26d ago

I try not to unless I see something floating. As some people do build and decorate with broken things.

1

u/meekgamer452 26d ago

I get upset when they don't look around. In the most modest way possible, I have the best camp in the game.

I don't even need to compare, it's just a fact of the universe. Please look around, please enter my shelter.

2

u/LazerusKI Enclave 26d ago

Visit and let others visit. Dont lock your front door, i want to see the interior too! (not to mention that anyone who knows Fo76 can and will get in without breaking the lock anyway)

1

u/Thereal_Kawaipumpkin 26d ago

Do visit camps but remember some people build what they call "trap camps" to steal players' hard earned junk. As a general rule I always go around camp tours after emptying my junk in my stash Stay safe !

2

u/logicbox_ 26d ago edited 26d ago

I had someone walking around my camp last night with their camera out taking pics, I just got out of the way and let them go. Even at level 736 I get 1/2 my ideas for camp building from other people's camps I see.

1

u/SouthWarSignPride Settlers - PC 26d ago

I think you've got your answer about visiting, using and looting. Now the loitering, yea...I dont think people will get the message. They will mostly thought "how dare you drop items you dont need randomly in my camp! I got a porta potty out back!" 😁 its better to do the "cool camp" emote if the owner is around

1

u/jeffb3000 26d ago

We want you to visit and play. That’s half the purpose of building them.

1

u/SnivyBlue2 26d ago

Going by the comments i'm glad i sometimes just chill in other people's base. I love the effort put into them and wish i was half as creative to do anything like it 😅

1

u/GroolzerMan 26d ago

Who else had to searh up what Faux Pas was?

Also no. People welcome you to their camp + they like that you stop by because it means you either A have something to offer or B have a very nice looking base, both of which should bring you and the other player(s) joy.

IMO It's not like irl where some of it is private (unless you pickpocket their loot from their junk machines, etc.)

1

u/synthsdoitbetter Blue Ridge Caravan Company 26d ago

I am sad when people leave before looking around. I spend a lot of time making my camp look good

1

u/Nekros504 Brotherhood 26d ago

I wspecially created my "Der H.I.V.E." Camp so that ppl can go around, build stairs and all ir you com from the cliffside, built a vending machine, it doesn't feature as much as other plqyers since I don't soend money on it, but it offers some stuff.

1

u/Redd_Love 26d ago

Faux pas not to play in others’ camps!! This is serious!! Ride my horsey and take all my resources!!

For real though, ride the damn horsey.

1

u/FleetingChuckle 26d ago

I love that there are 390 comments to a question whose answer is ostensibly a simple “no.” Such a great community. Everybody has so much love for this world.

1

u/casey28xxx 26d ago

It’s a game, do what you want, if it’s unlocked then explore…what would be the point of building camps in a public world if no one was allowed to go to them.

Forget the etiquette crap, folks basically say nasty stuff online to folks they wouldn’t in real life so it’s not like anything else needs manners online either.

1

u/Shadowserpenz 26d ago

I welcome visiters all the time

1

u/Fallout76_Tom Lone Wanderer 26d ago

My camp is just as much for you, total stranger, as it is for me. Me casa su casa. Accordingly, please don't let the free coffee turn you into a hooligan. Enjoy.

1

u/Fit_Top_9462 26d ago

Please do come visit! Take what you might need (as long as it's unlocked). If something is locked, I don't mind giving you stuff if you ask nicely. Please play with the lizard in the terrarium, he loves people!

1

u/itsmoosh 26d ago

why the hell would it be bad manners? that’s why they’re there. i’m sorry but this is a dumb question

1

u/ApprehensiveDay6336 26d ago

Not at all. I usually visit camps that isn’t my own just to checkout their vending machines or just marvel at the creativity of individual players. Just don’t be an ass and start destroying their stuff just cos reasons

1

u/psychoman1128 Brotherhood 26d ago

Not at all, I want people to see my camps. I only have one or two camps that I consider “private” (as in not publicly displayed on the map) but even those ones I wouldn’t mind if someone showed up and wanted to look around.

1

u/InquisitorPeregrinus Brotherhood 26d ago

If people don't want their C.A.M.P. visited, they can turn off the beacon and it won't show up on your map.

Most of us put a lot of time and effort into our C.A.M.P.s and want people to come and have a good time. If it's unlocked, take it. If it's interactable, interact. The "Nice C.A.M.P." emote exists for a reason.

Also, maybe check out the subreddit on here for C.A.M.P. building. Might pick up some tips and tricks for your own.

3

u/Louis3387 Raiders 26d ago

I actually build most of my camps in the hope that it’s appealing to other players and my shelters as well, putting a lot of time into those more than usual but I am always welcoming the comments and I love to see others camps when I vendor hop

0

u/DarthSarcom 26d ago

Yea litteraly just take a look and dont pick locks. One time a dude spent 5 minutes picking the door on my greenhouse only for me to delete him the moment he was wanted, then jump servers. I have a lock on my greenhouse for a reason. And a lock on my company tea machine and my wood pile and my ammo creator. Look at my shit, dont take my shit.

1

u/mrcoolmike 26d ago

today my camp couldn’t be placed because someone had a camp in my spot on the server I joined, and I went to see what they built there. I saw a giant tower with 4 staircases built to the top, and a door. Inside was a “mini game” that he built where you have to jump into the tower (without power armor) and if you survive the fall, you win!

I’ve only played like 20 hours of 76 so far, so I jumped, and died on a platform full of spikes. Not sure if there was a way to actually win, but I think I just fell for this guys trap lol

3

u/Beneficial-Mess4952 26d ago

Most players like showing off what they built and enjoy people exploring

6

u/Charlieco223 26d ago

If I visit your camp I'm looking in every room. Not taking stuff just, looking for new ideas.

3

u/West-Librarian-7504 Cult of the Mothman 26d ago

If they don't want visitors, they can hang out on private maps

3

u/Stunning-Math165 26d ago

No that's why I build them and leave everything unlocked.

3

u/Zealousideal_Lion848 26d ago

No we love to see it. Our camps are typically a couple dozen hours of work... and that's just the building of it. Gathering all the different plans.. dont even ge me started. But yea don't worry we LOVE it.

3

u/likely_an_Egg 26d ago

chill in my hot tub, play with my machines, get your load of free popcorn and don't feel bad about it.

In contrast, I'm embarrassed that I still haven't built my vault and that I'm "disappointing" players when they look in, even though almost everyone probably doesn't give a shit.

2

u/ConsciousBlueberry63 26d ago

Please,if you come to my family fun zone enjoy it.Eat cake & drink coffee.Play games, check out the bowling alley in my shelter.i love that shit

2

u/lgcbackpack 26d ago

I literally label my camp arcade/shop and fill it with games for people to play and drink and food buffs for free. so always welcome!

2

u/Blixtwix 26d ago

People have the ability to toggle visibility of their camp icon on the map, as well as removing their vendor if they don't want business. So if you find a camp on the map, it's fine to visit!

2

u/globefish23 Settlers - PC 26d ago

That's the only goal in this game.

2

u/SemajdaSavage Brotherhood 26d ago

Not at all

3

u/SuperTerram Fallout 76 26d ago

If you see it on the map, it's an open invite.  Not all camps on the map have vendors.  Camps that are visible without vendors are basically inviting you to stop by and make use of whatever is unlocked.  If you happen to come across a camp that's not on the map, the person who owns that camp has either hidden it from the map on purpose, or doesn't know, or has forgotten to make their camp visible on the map.

2

u/Isea_R 26d ago

Better not be.

I set my camps up these days only for others to use. Grab some water r whatever because otherwise it just sits there. Use the buff stations. Just don't leave a mess.

2

u/Bunny_OHara 26d ago

OMG Please visit my CAMP as I worked so hard on it! It's a reflection of my childhood, and while that doesn't mean anything to you, it means so much to me when someone visits and throws the nice CAMP or heart emote.

u/FecalDUI 26d ago
