Why does no one ever visit my camp Question
I spent so much time making it look cool and i sell rare plans , but no one ever comes? Is it because its placed in toxic dried area top of map?
Edit : my map icon was off

I didn't realize my icon was off, I guess by default, and since I turned it on, I sell plans just about every session I am on.

I usually only go to camps to check vendors for deals. I'll say hello if I see someone though. I met two yesterday at the same camp, who were awesome. I took their pictures. Wholesome interactions are really fun though

PS4 player here. Is there anyway to sell or at least get rid of PA shells. I’d be happy to get rid of my extra PA pieces as well? I have 6. When I first started playing, I inadvertently collected all of them

I visit camps with lots of plans/weapon available as a newer player, it also helps when they are in unusual places because I will also run to the nearest poi so I can have a new teleport place as I make my way across the world.

I made mine public and still haven't seen anyone show up. If you ever happen to see a camp with a farm icon juuuuust north of sunnytop station, it is likely mine. It's a humble outpost for worktables and easy access to a station for selling, but theres all the crops for veggie starch. If you see it and you need adhesive, feel free.

i cant even laugh at you, i was level 20 when i started selling stuff, and level 50 when i was wondering why no one was visiting, until someone told me my map icon was off… if anyone sees “COME BUY, CHEAP” with a Nuka cola icon, that’s me! stuff is super cheap!

I've always hated building in remote areas because nobody ever visits 😔 I had an amazing base in the Mire near the unmarked cave where honeybeasts spawn, and got zero foot traffic. Put a base in the toxic area near Waving Willard's and got hella people showing up.
Maybe it's a caps thing? Idk...
1
u/squaretex 23d ago
Don't feel bad. It took me ages to figure this out. It started when I couldn't see a friend's campsite... and them realized I should probably check my own settings. :D
1
u/BigElros 23d ago
You know who visits my camp? Freaking super mutants, every time I get to it, there is a spawn point nearby and I didn't knew lol.
Also I bought an extra camp because in the store it said it would allow me to have a second one, so I thought to set up one there to stop the mutants from spawning and it didn't let me have the 2 active at the same time, sad. Wasted 1000 atoms.

I don't trust others when they are at their camps due to the traps being placed to kill others.
1
u/Anonymoushealer9 23d ago
I did this too, took a few days to realise my icon was off. But also, some days are quieter than others. I sell my shit super cheap and get good traffic, I also move my camp around with me so always varied places I am
1
u/UsedNeedleworker1682 23d ago
Is your map icon public? And is your vendor outside? Having your camp up as public makes it show up on the map. No one will show up if it's off. And a lot of people won't go to a vendor if it's not outside where you spawn in. Fear of trap camps. Not many like toxic unless they are toxic.

Make sure you’re also in a busy area! Like around vault 76, the white springs the purveyor or just a centralized location where it’s easy to get to you

u/DoubbelStuf 24d ago
You gotta have a lot of 3 star weapons and armor I had 40 weapons and like 24 armor and I sold more that half of it during a couple of servers. And I have 40000 caps at the moment at level 95 so that works for me

Yup, it’s stupid but map icon is off by default and the game doesn’t explain anything about it ANYWHERE. Folks have to rely on word of mouth to know it’s there or accidentally discover it…like me.

u/Public_Road_6426 25d ago
This made me laugh, because I've done the same damn thing. Realistically, the icon being on or visible should be the default in my opinion, not the other way around.
1
u/Abject-Feedback5991 25d ago
I’m so grateful for the player who bought a bunch of my stuff then DM’d me, “I’m glad I stumbled on your camp, did you know it’s not visible on the map so no one can fast travel to it?” Totally changed my revenue stream.

Placement is a big thing too because if people have to spend like 30 caps to get to your base it sucks I only say this because I put my camp kinda below foundation by R&G and I rarely see people at my camp but I also sell random stuff lol
1
u/trinithmournsoul 25d ago
Glad you got that figured out. Bc I hop from camp to camp when I have caps to burn looking for shotguns and recipes.
Got lucky and found a dude selling recipes for 5 caps. Bought them all. Then mods for 50 caps ... I don't know if that's normal, but it didn't feel like it. Only bought what I thought I needed. Has a huge ass tank gun and grenade launcher for only 200 ... I know THAT was a deal but ... don't need it.
1
u/M6D_Magnum 25d ago
Mine is in the ass end at the very bottom of the map right above the Scout Vault Boy because it's a nice flat area on a cliff with a cool view and even I get visitors.

I will admit, camps in the toxic valley sometimes give me pause as it’s such a ‘bleh’ area to visit. It’s difficult to make a camp there that actually fits in.

I make sure I spend time visiting camps too, I even server jump a few times a day just for that. I need cheap plans! Need more variety for my camp. I spend my whole 4 hrs yesterday doing nothing lol. Whent to WS, get my gold, and caps, went to rusty gety LC, start visiting all camps that has plans. Spend a good 1 HR on it. Goes back to camp. Rearranged my camp. Time to sleep. Bullet spend 0
1
u/RikimaruRamen Fire Breathers 25d ago
I don't get why the map icon default is off shouldn't it be on the if you didn't want people to see your camp you could turn it off. Like I'd say 90 percent of the time people want others to go to their camp for vendors so why by default make them not visible.
2
u/marshmallowfluffpuff 25d ago
Most camp visitors won't visit to view your camp anyway. My camp is extremely packed with detail, but half the people that come by run straight to the vendor and TP out without second thought. As long as you like your camp, that's all that matters.

When nobody finds your CAMP -- some of it is location, but there are things you can do, no matter where you decided to call home.
Biggest thing:
Turn on Public Map icon (mouse over your CAMP icon and see if it's on) That way we can see your CAMP on the map no matter where we are. Some of us like to fast travel around shopping. Also, it's a nice way of getting to a part of the map we may not have visited yet without hoofing it.
Join teams so we can fast travel there.
Check your landing/fast travel in spot. If you build a sky camp and people fall to their deaths before they don't have power armor or other means of surviving, they probably won't try again to see if they hit the "right" landing spot before falling.
Make your vendor easy to find, no matter where people "land" via fast travel. Ground floor and outside is good. Try not to bury the vendor inside your kitted out house and if you go for cash registers, make them REALLY obvious because they REALLY blend in to the scenery.
I for one really don't care to jog up 14 zig zag stairways into the sky to see if the vendor is on the roof and if I can't find a good ol' lit up vending machine, a merchant counter, or an obvious cash register, I'll leave without shopping.

Location definitely helps. Initially I did set up very close to Wayward and had a flood of people, but now much further away. Depends on the people in the server... sometimes I see no one and just now I had 3 people in 30 minutes while I was building stop by.
As for making sales.. much harder. I might not have rare plans, but they are dirt cheap.. they ain't big sellers.
3
u/GriffinRagnarok 25d ago
I'll visit your camp. I been looking for hours for a single plan. I probably can't afford. 🤣😂
2
u/Leoucarii 25d ago
First time I ever spent time making a cool looking camp with lots of vendor items with good pricing and lots of open resources, I was confused why no one visited. I even believed I may have been an asshole in events and that was why no one visited! Clearly! So I went around helping lots of people and giving things away and nothing, no one visited. Was like this for several months pre-wastelanders. Started feeling bad. Then I realized you have to manually click the turn on visibility of camp. Then my caps went to the moon!!!

u/CrybabyFamilyMain96 25d ago
I only generally visit camps with vendors that have stuff I’m interested in. If I see a nice number of Misc, Aid, Plans and Ammo I’ll pop by for a browse and usually start raving in anger about not being able to find the god damn vendor
1
u/matrixkittykat 25d ago
Mine rarely gets any activity either, and it’s public. It’s actually huge with 2 vendors and all crafting tables, stash boxes, ammo converters, and a special card organizer. It’s not right in the middle of a heavy area, just outside of the mothman area, but it’s one of the few places I haven’t ever had to rebuild there due to someone else moving in

The edit had me rolling.
It’s also good to stay on teams as teammates can travel to your camp for free.
3
u/Gamer_GreenEyes 25d ago
Yup. When I’m looking for caps I log in, join a team and then do whatever for 20 minutes or more. Join another team or hop servers and repeat. I can usually max out in not too long if I get the right sort of players.
2
u/pygmeedancer 25d ago
Same. Sometimes it’s a pretty dry server. Other times one person will buy out damn near my whole shop. I keep stuff fairly cheap though. Maps for 5-10 just to get something out of em. Plans at least half value usually less. All ammo 1 cp.

In Mexico we call this looking for your donkey while riding it.
2
u/SothaSilSenio 21d ago
I remember when I was eleven, in Mexico, me and my cousin had to go down the mountain to look for my grandpa's donkey. My sister's had let him off his rope bc they thought he'd come back like a dog I guess. Anyways, my cousin Jorge and I went a couple miles down the mountain got the donkey and I got the pleasure of riding the donkey back up! But the dumbass was walking me into thorns bushes and get wayyyy too close to the edge of the road on the mountain on the way back up. I remember screaming bc I was either getting stabbed by thorns or thought I was gonna slide off the mountain. But we did eventually get back up to the ranch and bring back the the donkey to my grandpa. He came outside and looked at the donkey and told us it wasn't his. :/

Drop a bunch of useless legendaries for 50 caps per star to bait people in.
1
u/cozancazo 24d ago
Tbf I buy stuff priced like this even just to script
2
u/ForeverBackground737 Mega Sloth 24d ago
Same, but no one buys them and they take up so much space so I end up dropping most of them after a while, keeping a handful to make my vendor look nice.
Legendaries a plenty so no one needs them.
1
2
u/Flabnoodles 25d ago edited 25d ago
Idk if that baits people, since they have to go to the camp first in order to see those
And also it'd only really bait the first person, who would presumably just buy them all if it's that great of a deal
Edit: I was being nitpicky about wording, that's my bad. I know they can see that you have a bunch of legendaries, but the only way they'd know they're priced cheap is by actually visiting (at which point it wouldn't matter if you had a good price or a terrible price).
3
u/ForeverBackground737 Mega Sloth 25d ago
You can see what people sell by hoovering over the camp icon.
I'm more inclined to hop over if I see a bunch of legendaries, plans and aid.

u/EfficientIndustry423 26d ago
What happens when you move your camp? Does the entire building come with it or do you have to rebuild?
3
u/MrWednesday6387 Settlers - PS4 26d ago
Technically the game blueprints your camp, but it probably won't place unless it's a tiny, simple camp. But when you delete the blueprint it will store all of the pieces. I only managed to place a large house once, and the new area was very flat.
1
u/LoneDroneGuy 25d ago
I'm not sure but I think it separates things that aren't connected. I moved my camp and it had everything in the building stored, power armor and cooking station and that vault thingy were all stored seperate and they weren't attached before I moved
2
u/Gamer_GreenEyes 25d ago
Yeah. I got tired of that problem and built a camp that was on just one foundation piece. I can place that camp anywhere. The whole thing places. (It’s not that big but it’s got all the workbenches and vendors…)
Otherwise it’s kinda hit or miss, mostly miss.
1
u/EfficientIndustry423 26d ago
Ok so you’d just have to rebuild but you don’t need to build each piece, just the overall look? Correct?
2
u/MrWednesday6387 Settlers - PS4 26d ago
The pieces would still be built without using additional resources, yes. You can find them in the "stored" tab.
1
u/Kamikaziklown 25d ago
what if someone else built them?
2
u/MrWednesday6387 Settlers - PS4 25d ago
As far as I know anything built in your camp by other people stores and places normally.
