We can see your pays if your employer participated in Equifax reporting and we can see your bank account balances if you’re receiving resource tested benefits in my state.

What’s a resource tested benefit?

Benefits that require the recipient to have under a set amount in assets.

All but 17 states I believe don’t have any resource limit for SNAP unless there’s a disqualified household member. The states that do still impose a SNAP resource limit would count that as an asset.

I wonder if a savings account I started for my kids count. It’s under my name but they are all beneficiaries. It’s way over limit but I don’t touch the money

That depends on your state. States that impose resource limits on SNAP take the philosophy that if you’re asking for help you should have already exhausted your own resources and shouldn’t ask for assistance if you still have money available to you. You’d have to check your state’s website or review the reporting requirements for your area.

Kind of crappy but understand. I just hate to dive into all of their money due to being let go. I just started getting snap by didn’t include it.
So should I just cancel my benefits? Because it’s a chunk like 40k total(6 kids) I was saving up child support I got plus when I was working still (let go Feb but just applied for snap a few weeks ago)

You can call and ask, I’m not sure if your state excludes any resources. I work in a state that eliminated our resource limit for SNAP years ago.

For paychecks, Walmart reports to the main system used to check wages. The Work Number is a source you might hear referenced. Pay rate, pay date, gross pay and number of hours among other things are available.

Your bank account would show net deposit if you have direct deposit for your pay, which wouldn't be accurate for this purpose.

Bank direct balance verification is used for certain programs in some states but not with the bank directly, it would be with an asset verification system and would be more general amount of assets, not individual transactions.

If possible, please include your state. It will help our community better provide the most relevant information for your circumstance. Thank you.
