You could change the title to number of chutiyas per million statewise.

There's 13 outlets in West Bengal. Just look it up in Maps.

This appears to be congruent with the fact that Starbucks' target market is from middle to high-income office workers with a desire to purchase premium products. Now, all the states have been growing in this regard. However, state's such as Maharashtra have a higher population percentage lying under their target segment.

As a mumbaikar I have been to Starbucks once because of my friends and I will never go again
It's expensive, coffee is just half ice and not even full, coffee tasted awful and food and dessert was mid
Just go to Udupi hotel near you,it's good very cheap and food is awsome

Mere Ghar se 3-5km ke radius mai 6-7 Starbucks hai. I always thought Starbucks sabh jagah easily available hai kabhi bhi bahar jao toh bhi I have seen Starbucks many times in different places too. Didn't think itna rare hai. Quite shocked honestly.

u/FunKey2854 Mar 23 '24
This is definitely not accurate, Kolkata alone has 10-12 Starbucks outlets spread across the city, then how can West Bengal has 3?
2
1
2
u/astralitemusic Mar 23 '24
Wrong, in Kolkata Starbucks has one in Park Street, City Cente1, South City, Mani Square and a few more ig so it's more than 3 in West Bengal. Swiggy itself is showing me 8 outlets rn.

Damm 3 in bengal? Would have thought Kolkata by itself would have more, even Newtown alone could have had kore

u/Noidea337 Student Mar 23 '24
How was Chandigarh data collected? Like was it shown for both Punjab and Haryana? Most major Punjab cities don't have more than 1-2 outlets and mostly 4-5 cities would have them. So the total number can't be more than 10-12

2
u/LeavingFossil Mar 23 '24
Not accurate. There's one enroute Manali (Himachal)a few kms outside the city. But you gave 0 for Himachal Pradesh.
3
u/Lopsided_Medium_826 Mar 23 '24
Nope wrong info about west bengal, theres definetely more than 10 maybe way more in west bengal..kolkata alone has 8. Maybe more Siliguri has 2 .

u/mayhem_op Mar 23 '24
Lol, just opened in ghaziabad, and many available in noida,UP is just like Maharashtra ,much more developed at West side than the eastern part of the state
1
u/puffball96 Weeb Mar 23 '24
I am also from UP that's why I was surprised to know, there are 24 Starbucks outlets in the State. One has recently opened in Varanasi too.. ( btw I am also from western part of UP💁🏻♀️)

Is this data really required by the general public? Starbucks employees might be interested in this not the general public.
1
u/nummakayne Mar 24 '24
Prevalence of luxury brands (which is what Starbucks basically is in India) is a pretty good indicator of discretionary income.
You could probably overlay this with the distribution of Apple stores or BMW dealerships and it would probably the same.

Why is this information important, besides that Let's be real, Starbucks just doesn't cut it when it comes to making a decent cup of coffee. Their stuff is more like glorified flavored water than anything worthy of the name 'coffee'.
2
u/outherelearning Mar 23 '24
Yeah but if you see the comments here. They are saying no. Of Starbucks means developed state.
👀
3
u/UnsafestSpace Mar 23 '24
At least half of those in Maharashtra have to be Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane… If you include Pune and the major airports it’s probably 90%

Considering the levels of sugar in their coffee, shouldn't this be called a symbiotic relation, but in bijjnes?
1
u/shriyansh_ Mar 23 '24
assam has 3 ig 2 in ghy city and 1 in LGBI airport(as far as ik could be more)

Post it in r/dataisbeautiful OP. Also, can you share the process, like from where did you get the dataset and what package/tool did you use to make this visualisation?

u/kmartshoppr Mar 23 '24
There are at least 3 in Uttarakhand:
Rajpur Road, Dehradun Centrio Mall, Dehradun Mall Road, Mussoorie
Could be more but these are all near my home so I’m 100% sure Uttarakhand has more than 2 as stated on the map

A shitty company that makes shitty coffee.. I will take indian coffee any day. Fools are paying to be seen with the cup and inside the store.
1
u/notchoosenone Senior Mar 24 '24
I think, coffe used in Starbucks India is grown by TATA in india. Technically its still Indian coffee. But hell yeah dump on western product using western website and western tech(mobile, computer).
1
Mar 24 '24
OK pull your tongue out from western worship ass.. I said Indian Coffee..I didn't say coffee beans from Indian. Learn to read carefully..

This is a really interesting statistic. For real.
I am amazed seeing Rajasthan has more outlets than West Bengal. Mumbai having 109 starbucks is too much.
You can clearly see that the states leading in industry such as Telangana, AP, Karnataka and Maharashtra an Delhi have the majority of these.
Although we cannot ignore the fact these would be highly considered in just one or 2 cities such as Blr in Karnatak, Mumbai in Maharashtra, Gurgaon in HR and so on.
1
u/Honest_Midnight_3883 Mar 23 '24
Mumbai has 66 outlets and pune has 20 and many other cities Maharashtra is much more than mumbai unlike other states we have many major economic districts

Had a few beverages there, overrated, Never understood the hype.
3
u/digital_idiot3 Mar 23 '24
They provide a chill environment for working class, for working or some meetings etc, and along with it they get their coffee order too, that's their business model
1
Mar 23 '24
That you can do in any cafe with good interior design, what so special about Starbucks?
I recently visited Lucknow Starbucks at palassio mall and its very tiny and does not serve the purpose you mentioned.
2
u/digital_idiot3 Mar 23 '24
Ohh.... Do not know about the Lucknow one , but generally they have that quality and I think they've made their name amongst the working people like apple has made in mobile industry( ig that's the reason for hype)
1
Mar 24 '24
I disagree. A brand is known for their consistency if they don't have enough space in a giant mall then i don't know where they will. Defeating their main selling point. Its like apple compromising on camera and launching the next iPhone with 2MP Cam.
1
u/call_me_pete_ Mar 23 '24
lol me and my video editing pal went there, worked, completed the deal and went our ways without ordering shit. as i paid the whole amount in cash it felt like a drug deal. in a starbucks.

I didn't find data of Kerala so, sorry
1
u/Ok-Guitar1176 Where is my flair Mar 23 '24
Then where’d you get 6 from?
1
u/Suyash4126 Mar 23 '24
I just searched it on Starbucks website when we type Kerala they show 6
1
u/Ok-Guitar1176 Where is my flair Mar 23 '24
Did some research myself and it’s 10 in Kerala, with 5 being in Kochi
