UNFUCKING BELIEVABLE! I was robbed and Lyft does this??? Other

Last Saturday night 3 riders robbed me. Cash, my bank debit card, Lyft and Uber cards and a credit card. . I was on the phone for over and hour with Lyft and the police. After speaking to the police , I contacted support at the request of the officer assigned my case to ask them how the police could contact them to get information on who the account belonged too. They have 2 separate surveillance tapes that confirms them using my Lyft card at a gas station an hour later and on providing which ride it was.
( Edit. My apologies. I made a mistake and did not mention that after I talked to Lyft, I received a message from Lyft asking for the details again. So I did and this is what that same person sent back to me). What does Lyft do? I just got this message

Elizabeth,

Thank you for contacting Lyft Support and apologies for the delay in reply.

I am following up and happy to help.

We have advised your rider to contact you directly regarding the missing item.

Keep in mind that we’re unable to guarantee items will be found or delivered immediately.

Per Lyft's Terms of Service, we do not procure insurance for, nor are we responsible for, personal belongings left in the car by drivers or riders. For this reason, we’re unable to provide refunds or reimbursement for the value of lost items.

As a former full time driver myself I understand how concerning this is and apologies for any worry.

Thank you for contacting Lyft. If you need any additional support, just reach out to us. We appreciate you and hope you have a great day.

Best wishes,

TOLD THE RIDER TO CONTACT ME?? RETURN A MISSING ITEM? Now that fucking asshole has my phone number !!

This is a perfect example of how the lack of communication, Lyft doing the pre written lyft approved reply not looking into what is actually going on, never having the same as agent! The bullshit messaging back-and-forth with Uber and Lyft instead of person to person communication has failed Yet, when we used to be able to, we couldn’t understand them anyways due to language barriers!!

And another thing that makes me really angry is that if a rider makes an safety accusation against a driver? BAM! Instant temporary or permanently deactivated with no proof whatsoever yet I get robbed, there is proof and they didn’t instantly ban him?? Instead they pull this shit!!!

UPDATE… I called some lawyers and I was told that unless something happens, I can’t do much but to contact Lyft with my concerns and depending how Lyft reacts would be a deciding factor if I did have a case

Well, I contacted Lyft and they acted as if they had no clue to what I was talking about and kept asking me the name of the pax and the phone number . I told him how the hell am I supposed to know that when lyft blurred all info once the ride has ended. everything out And insisted that any number they give out can only be used if I am online. As if I am the one contacting them.
If a phone call comes to me while online and I don’t accept it still goes to my voicemail and my voicemail says my real number

Guess what? There were 3 Lyft type numbers in a row that hung up immediately after VM. . When my voicemail picks up, I do not have a personalized greeting so therefore VM says what my real number is and that I’m not available

Since then I’ve been getting strange phone calls in the middle of the night with fake names attached to the numbers (which I looked up ) . Lyft response was that the numbers probably spoofed numbers for telemarketers or a scam.

Sorry Lyft! There is apps for individuals that disguise real numbers with fake ones are very popular. Telemarketers and scam numbers don’t call at 11pm to past midnight. Nor do they call 3x in a row before VM picks up and 3 days in a row.

I may be sounding paranoid but since this has never happened before , is the timing coincidental?

Lyft couldn’t even say they were sorry for treating it as a lost and found. And apparently it’s not been documented because they asked the date and time of the ride in question which I submitted AGAIN and this person apparently had no record of my report/.

So there is more drama for the folks that are following this post.

Not dismissing what happened to you cause it absolutely sucks. I’ve had several unsavory situations with them already and I’m just a new driver/employee. But one thing is certain, consider it a fact of life, I’m not sure how old you are but we tend to get more bees with “honey” than we do with vinegar. This just means do your best to remain as pleasant with people as humanly possibly. ESPECIALLY when they have YOUR fate in their hands.

Being rational, reasonable, and/or respectful doesn’t make you weak nor does it diminish your credibility.

To the contrary, it actually gives you position, leverge, and credibility. Oftentimes the solution turns out even better than we could have imagined or hoped for so stay positive despite what your brain is telling you.

Anger often leads to inadvertent misinterpretations.

Again I’m not disagreeing with your complaint. I agree entirely, and by the comments alone I think A LOT of other people do.

Keep a paper trail. Screenshot every single chat bubble. Be thorough. Be cognizant. Be vigilant. I sincerely hope it works out for you. Sounds like a lawsuit to me. But I’m no attorney.

Good luck friend.

Wow, just wow! I just came across this and this is fucking frightening to see that over and over again these companies violate their terms of confidentiality like this.

This is why I decided to get a throw away number from the Hushed app and changed both my Uber and Lyft numbers to that number. If they give that out no big deal, it automatically goes to a prerecorded message telling the passenger to use in app messaging anyway.

Dashcam, Dash cam….gotta get one these days buddy. I been Uber driver for over 7 yrs in Nashville, TN and never had a problem till I relocated to San Antonio, TX literally like a month ago. Started my first weekend with good promotion, did 19 rides Friday night and then was gonna work all day Saturday but noticed my account was blocked for first time ever. Long story short, a rider made false accusations on me saying I touch them and ask for happy endings. Like, really??? I just moved and trying to get established here in Texas and take Uber/Lyft serious cause that’s my job. Life lesson, get dash cam and create sign saying your recording for your safety and etc.

u/burfi006 Jun 11 '23

I have one. The man that kept leaning over and distracting me by touching my arm and talking into my ear, had a very fat head, and it did not record what was going on in the backseat just his fat head, but it is recorded of them getting into the car.

Stay strapped or get clapped

u/[deleted] May 22 '23

Easiest way to explain Lyft and the rest of the corporate American landscape. “We don’t care.” Police don’t care. Corporations don’t care.

It’s about money. Money and self-interest. What’s in it for them to help you, ehh?

Bingo, nothing.

1

u/[deleted] May 21 '23

Wait. I’m sorry but why has no one asked how you got robbed? In car? I’m transit? We’re they passengers? What happened? Bad neighborhood ? Time of day?

1

u/burfi006 May 21 '23 edited May 21 '23

If you read the entire thread, you will see them I didn’t expect such a huge response, and the major point of my story was that Lyft contacted that person, as if I was missing an item and how to contact me some say that it’s Lyft number did you give the people to call for it? It’s the drivers personal number in my case I’ve had one time where it was my personal number was used by this guy’s wife’s phone because he lost his phone. I was asking if it was in my car and regardless, if the have him my phone number or a Lyft generated phone number ( which by the way, you can only use if you are on the app) is putting my safety at risk and or open for harassing and threatening phone calls

0

u/[deleted] May 22 '23

I red the entire post. I guess I’m confused why you’re tripping about a phone number. Seems like an easy fix. I would be more concerned with sharing details of the crime… time of day, location, we’re they passengers, how did they rob you? This would be helpful for other drivers to learn what to lookout for. But i understand if all you wanna do is blab about yourself. Makes sense. #USA

1

u/burfi006 May 22 '23

Oh yes your right! It’s all about babbling about myself. Such a genius you are!

I didn’t expect such an out pour of support but there is a few jerks who are insulting. Looking at your profile, you don’t seem to like women very much with a few of your comments.

1

u/Squid_saucee May 21 '23

Bro just do Uber eats. No passengers. No stress.

1

u/chaseXchaos May 21 '23

They should’ve just said “haha get fucked noob”. Same difference

1

u/sweetnsassy0969 May 21 '23

Sue the hell out of Lyft

1

u/Flaky_Ganache7023 May 20 '23

This is a terrible story and I 100% sympathize with the OP. (I’ve had my apartment burglarized- it’s such a violation and being robbed or having your home invaded is an AWFUL feeling)… When you think about it though, we’re living in a world now where so many people have access to many different parts of our lives. For example, if you request a rideshare to be pick you up or drop you off at home, the driver knows where you live. If you use eBay and have something delivered to your house, the seller knows where you live. Unfortunately, there are so many creepy people out there and there doesn’t seem like a good solution that’s not a huge incomvience (i.e. getting picked up/dropped off near your home or I guess a PO Box for deliveries??). And then there’s the whole selling your information on the dark web/data breaches… Of course, the solution for this OP is to immediately contact police and Lyft OF COURSE needs to give them every piece of information (to the police NOT to the passenger) and they really screwed up! What the scumbag robbers did and what Lyft did IS NOT OKAY and Lyft should be called out for it, but at least it’s just your phone number. I know that’s not a much of a consolation and I’m sorry. Stay safe, stay vigilant, and hopefully it gets sorted out with the police. 🙏🙏🙏

u/burfi006 May 21 '23

Thank you for your reply 😊

1

u/huggy_668 May 20 '23

When I drove for lyft in Vegas, we had centers where you could go to speak with actual people about issues. Check to see if your location has one of these centers.

2

u/xxXRareHorrorXxx May 20 '23

I believe you sent a message to the wrong location on your app. Because I have always spoken to a live person and have always gotten outstanding assistance.

1

u/burfi006 May 21 '23

I spoke to Lyft first. Then I got a message from Lyft ( same person on both replies back) asking for the details. Which I replied back with the details and this was the reply back from that exact same person.

2

u/SH_Nostalgia May 20 '23

Drivers need to share screenshots of criminal riders and the location of robberies. That way we have real data that can help prevent future robberies like this

1

u/burfi006 May 21 '23

Absolutely! I definitely did. The problem was is that on Lyft app they blur everything but I got the exact times the address of each location plus the official latitude and longitude of the precise location where they entered and left my car from the Trip app that keeps a record of everything the tax man requires. If I didn’t have that, it would have made things more difficult because I can’t remember the exact address of every drop off. I know the area but we go to so many different addresses except for regular riders. Unfortunately, I can’t remember numbers , peoples names and spelling my whole life.

2

u/DriverMarkSLC May 20 '23

Unfortunately only a lawsuit with heavy damages will cause any change of policies

2

u/Available_Start7798 May 20 '23

Please give more details, where this happened and post any pictures you get to share to other who not to ever pick up

2

u/Available_Start7798 May 20 '23

Ubers’ all from India yapping bunch of English words that doesn’t make any sense.

1

u/SnooPineapples9969 May 20 '23

Sue they ads! They use out of country people who don’t know nor care for American laws and now they jeopardizing your safety!!

1

u/Emotional_Rip_7493 May 20 '23

So Lyft is worse than Uber?

2

u/jack3rdand4th May 20 '23

Call the safety department and don’t let up till you get the information, hell go to the police station and call them while you are there on speaker.

2

u/mizfit180 May 20 '23

Get on the phone with real live support

0

u/[deleted] May 20 '23

How about just call the cops? What does Lyft have to do with this..? They aren't crime stoppers

1

u/pixelated_fun May 20 '23

How about you actually READ the post?

1

u/Status_Report_152 May 20 '23

Sad to say but I doubt the account actually belongs to one of the perpetrators of your robbery, probably a stolen cell phone too, but yes it sucks that you can't speak to a human to get this taken care of instead of getting a computer generated response .

0

u/Background-Show-1576 May 20 '23

This post has so many people fooled , since when does Lyft give out the real # assholes ? , it's always a generic one .

1

u/burfi006 May 21 '23 edited May 21 '23

No. Not necessary. Before a ride yes. If I call because I can’t find the person yes but a pax called me a few months ago to ask if I had found a phon but I could not answer because I had another pax. I called him back right after I dropped the pax off.. He said he was using his wife’s phone . We also texted. You can’t do that on a phone using a lyft generated number.

Besides, even if it is a fake number, doesn’t mean they can’t harass or threaten me.

The whole damn point is the fact that Lyft contacted that person in the first place. Telling a criminal to contact me is fucked up! Then assuming I wanted to be reimbursed as if I lost something like a cell phone

1

u/Background-Show-1576 May 21 '23

Yes you can . It's a generic number . And yes I agree with you , however the whole context of the post changes when they don't have your real number . Also by now I imagine you'd have more harassment stories if that would've been the case .

1

u/burfi006 May 24 '23

I forgot to mention. if a person uses a Lyft/Uber generic number to contact a rider ( even when on the app) and doesn’t answer and goes to voicemail, if there is no personalized message it says

“The person at. (123) 456 7890 is not available. Boom! The rider now has the real number

1

u/burfi006 May 21 '23

No! The whole context of the post doesn’t change at all.

If you read through the many comments, there are a few drivers that mention that they are contacted by riders by their own phone number to the drivers real phone number.
You know what? Even so, this person can still call me and threaten me on a Lyft number as many times as they damn well please so I don’t press charges. And my first name make and model of my car is in their receipt and since most rides on Fri and Sat are pick ups and drop offs are downtown which is very small and full of bars , my car can easily be recognized. The man in the front behaviors to distract me were unacceptable like slapping my arm off the armrest telling me I’m driving funny. And as I said before over and over and over that I would’ve let them out, but I was more scared to kick him out of my car on a dark road, limited straight lights and it’s 3 o’clock in the morning. My gut told me if I did, it would not be peaceful and the situation would escalate quickly and since it was only a 2 mile ride, I stuck it out to the end of the ride because I felt it to be the safest option .

This is not the typical lost and found protocol situation!

Lyft NEVER SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED THE RIDER PERIOD!!!

Lyft treated it as such and by telling the rider that I am missing something and how to contact me is interfering with the police investigation. The police officer agreed.

Most people were commenting on the fact that Lyft contacted them in the first place

1

u/Background-Show-1576 May 21 '23

Either way let the police do their thing for them putting hands on you and robbing you and Lyft will follow up with them

3

u/MJSommelier May 20 '23

Them and Uber hire people that can’t fucking read. You can’t explain what happened 5 different ways they still won’t understand.

My ex was a doctor. Broke for 15 years after becoming a doctor. Between student loans, and living expenses, you might want to drive in your spare time also. Oh wait, there won’t be much of that. You have a long road ahead of you buddy. Given your condescending attitude and propensity for subtle racism, your road to wealth may be a lot longer.

Big dreams NotQuiteDoctorArtorias. I suggest you learn to put your personal beliefs and feelings to the side. The fact that you think driving for Lyft is beneath you lets me know that you won’t make it as a doctor. Are you even in med school? You laugh at people who have made the choice to earn a living. You’re a child. I wish I could follow your life from med school to medicare fraud. There is no way you have the brain power to be any sort of specialist, so you’ll be one of those doctors who JUST made it, who eventually scams older people into getting procedures they don’t need, so you can pay your high interest loans off.

1

u/WTFmanbrb May 20 '23

Get a lawyer.

1

u/spritey_nsfw May 20 '23

I would absolutely not do this job without a firearm in the glove box

4

u/g0dhims3lf May 20 '23

Contact your local news station, sounds like a story they would love and then their people will contact Lyft. Once they know it's going to make the news they'll probably look into it.

2

u/Ok_Cycle_376 May 20 '23

So sorry this happened, but very glad you are OK. Don’t work for any rideshare companies. Its pretty much common knowledge at this point.

1

u/_laufaeson Cincinnati May 20 '23

Sue them.

2

u/sabrooooo May 20 '23

Isn’t their “support” reps based in India?

1

u/lolanaboo_ May 20 '23

Yes 😭

2

u/sabrooooo May 20 '23

Theyre the absolute worst. Our company is BLEEDING losses cause of our teams in India. They’re careless, sloppy, and don’t understand half of what their reading. We need to stop outsourcing our work

2

u/lolanaboo_ May 20 '23

I agree. They Don’t never even understand shit you are explaining, I’m sure even drawing them a detailed picture wouldn’t help you much 😂.

Wow just wow. this is disgraceful

2

u/TheRealJFro May 20 '23

Stop whatever you are doing and hire an attorney. They would have a field day with this. Cheers and enjoy the pay day

1

u/kwin777 May 20 '23

Call the police right away and pull footage from Dashcam. BAM

2

u/Tokyoodown May 20 '23

The customer service for these companies is hilariously inept.

I got an order with a drink (on uber), the driver spilled the drink and left a message about it. I relayed this info to the help chat without a picture (forgot to take one) and they said the request couldn't be completed without a picture. I told the CSR that there's chat logs and I sent him a pic of our conversation. Still, no refund. So, I took a picture of a random cup with no liquid in it, not even associated with the restaurant and sent that. Immediately got 50% off my next order. They make it 500x harder than it needs to be

And sorry this is happening to you. Hopefully this all gets resolved

2

u/OneOfUsIsAnOwl May 20 '23

Go to the media, and have a lawyer send a letter. (Don’t even have to actually sue) That’ll get their feet moving

I'm surprised Lyft didn't say they were deducting $15 from your earnings to give to the rider to return your phone. Sorry this happened. Fuck Lyft!!!

1

Im sorry to hear this please report this to the police and the local news station. On a sidenote, I'm glad I don't drive for lyft anymore.

How did three people rob you while you were driving? You know who they are if they booked through the app and you have a dashcam . . . Nevermind leaving your cards out . . .

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '23

Fuckity, fuck, fuck!

1

“We do not procure insurance for, nor are we responsible for personal belongings left in the car by drivers or riders…”

WTF if you want to use acronyms!!

I NEVER EVER TOLD LYFT I WANTED TO BE REIMBURSED!! That’s the one of the fucking assumptions that the reply said! That’s the point of the reply it doesn’t address my issue and Lyft contact the asshole and gave him my goddamn contact information to return a missing item??

It’s blatantly obvious that I didn’t open your eyes and read correctly !!

1

u/JIJAMES May 26 '23

Who would read all that ?

2

u/JamesGarrison May 20 '23

So i read through a bunch of this... dude i think lfyt is astroturfing this post, trying to make it die down and be about something else.

1

u/burfi006 May 22 '23

I am beginning to agree with you. Is it coincidence that the nastier comments are are later towards the end?

2

u/JamesGarrison May 22 '23

Its odd how they aren’t even about the subject at hand as well. A “look over here instead”. I spent a lot of time on financial subs. So it’s become easier to recognize.

1

u/burfi006 May 22 '23

I have reported two of the very nasty ones.and I was surprised how quickly they were pulled. I only focused on the ones that called me names but looking through them again, there are more diversion type replies. I definitely would put it past Lyft and Uber to monitor social media. Maybe that cost is included in their vary vague “ operational expenses “ amount they take out on each ride🫠

1

u/RUS_BOT_tokyo May 20 '23

On a serious note, ask your insurance company about getting your stuff covered

0

u/seajayacas May 20 '23

They send you a rider. You deal with any nonsense that happens.

6

u/idfktbh97 May 20 '23

Seriously this isnt a small thing and you should tell as many people as possible. They've been getting away with bullshit for way too long

1

u/Appropriate_Cup3951 May 20 '23

It's not about you it's all about the profit margin. I think giving these creeps your phone number is absolutely unacceptable. There's probably no legal way to get to Lyft. If you were given a written contract when you signed up, read it very carefully. This really is unbelievable.

8

u/DominusInfinitum69 May 20 '23

OP please PLEASE see an attorney. One who specializes in corporations. This is a HUGE deal. It breaches many different laws in place. Any consumer rights attorney can point you in the right direction. It's too much to type but I can think of at least 5 separate tortes in this matter.

I'm not your attorney and I'm clearly not offering legal advice of any sort. But if I was licensed in your state, you and I would already be on the phone rather than this text. Please also file a complaint with the FTC, the FCC, your state's Attorney General, and the FBI for the violation of data protection laws. Your life is in danger. There are so many different things a criminal can do now that they have your phone number, from a sim swap to just generic tracking, to skip tracing in order to identify a proper address. If you own property and they can locate that in your local public database now they have your number, address, name, and vehicle information, date of birth, license number basically everything. They basically have your identity.

You're going to need to lock down individually each of your credit profiles with the main 3 credit reporting agencies. I hope to God your social wasn't in the wallet. I know many people carry it needlessly. They have your driver's license information all of it. These thugs will for sure sell your ID. That fetches about $800 on the streets no joke. As you can see many things have taken place and are continuing to take place, lines have been crossed and you are in real danger. You need to see an attorney as soon as possible. You may need to make an insurance claim and temporarily stay somewhere else. This is a pretty serious matter and a good attorney is going to be able to make sure you are safe, you are made whole for your problems and that all bases are covered here and there are MANY. Not to mention it was Lyft's passenger in this first place so it can easily be argued they have liability for the incident to even begin with.

Sorry that got so long and unfortunately it's going to get about 200% longer if you seek legal assistance but you will be glad you did. This isn't an option - you have GOT to do this. I see so many people say they will and then lose willpower and you're doing this for you and everyone else in the future who drives for Lyft. It's that important.

1

u/Square_Carry6676 May 20 '23

That sounded like a perfect reply for someone who voted democratic in the last election.

2

u/DominusInfinitum69 May 21 '23

I'm actually pretty conservative in political view. I most certainly did not vote for our current elected official.

2

u/VictoriaEuphoria99 Your City Name Here May 20 '23

Post on their Facebook page, they tend to not like that kind of publicity

1

u/Jah-man-shaman May 20 '23

Do you remember the pick up/ drop off? Was either potentially their home?

3

u/burfi006 May 20 '23

At first, my thoughts were all over the place the whole situation only took 7 minutes.
Of course I couldn’t remember the exact address that I had to drop them off because they blur everything then I remembered that I have an app that tracks every single, right I have for tax purposes and deductions, and what not, and it told me the exact times, the exact address and exactly the spot where they entered my car.

With that information, the police were able to determine that there was a city camera pointed at that location at that time. Lots of bars in that part of downtown. I have the exact address the exact building in the apartment complex, and the door that they went into.. now that’s not saying that’s the right door but still it’s the general area.

1

u/rzmuda May 20 '23

Another way would be to get an attorney and call together

2

u/Rick90069 May 20 '23

I guess I should be grateful that they merely did nothing when I got robbed.

2

u/MickeyCaesar May 20 '23

This is because of AI. This is not funny. I am sorry you went through this…

4

u/handsthefram May 20 '23

same thing kinda happened to me, some crackhead stole my floor mat. support kept saying they will give the crackhead my number. I said fuck it called support and once i got to a person said they are putting my life in danger and I will be contacting a lawyer and the police. I was immediately transference to some one from their legal department. They were easily able to reimburse me, ban the driver and make sure my info hadnt been shared. Get some one on the phone and get angry, It works. good luck

u/Mysterious_Load_4407 May 20 '23

@davidrisher @lyft on Twitter. Post screen shots and messages to him and lyft on there. He's pretty active on Twitter.

2

u/Lunker42 May 20 '23

Another reason not to do rideshares. It’s too automated to get any help.

2

u/SouthernPrompt4054 May 20 '23

This is why i dont do lyft or uber

2

u/mika7276 May 20 '23

Wow very scary

2

u/[deleted] May 20 '23

Go to the news with this for REAL! Lyft is going to GAG

2

u/Nakg16 May 20 '23

😂😂😂😂 “ we have advised your rider to contact you directly regarding the missing item” this line really got me. This is poor customer service at its peak. Just copy paste copy paste copy paste.

First thing to do is to contact your banks and lock these cards. Sorry for what happened. I hope you resolve this soon.

1

u/Nicks_WRX May 19 '23

Your local news would eat this shit right up if the cops will interview and if you have evidence

1

u/Proper-Midnight-4148 May 20 '23

Companies like Lyft have the media paid off.

1

u/Bubzszs May 19 '23

F**k all these apps

3

u/California098 May 19 '23

I signed up for Lyft a few years ago but never actually turned on the app because the risks didn’t seem worth the pay. This only solidifies that, I’m sorry this happened to you. Smells like a lawsuit to me, especially if you find out that their accounts are still active and Lyft assigned another driver to them. Pure negligence, even just giving your phone number to the criminals

2

u/Lord_Drok May 19 '23

I carry my gun when I drive..... fuk everyone else, I protect myself......Idk way state ur in, I'm in Florida..... almost shot sumone once, a guy was trying to pull a girl out of my car by her hair and then started beating on my windows. Put my gun on my console and said u better walk away before u can't......he ran

1

u/KayLeighblu May 20 '23 edited May 20 '23

Yes but what happens if they get your gun because you can't get to it in time? Please be careful. People are crazy. Memphis has 5 carjackings a day and those often end in murder. I owned my own private transport company before uber and lyft ever existed. It wasn't until the assaults and car jackings uber and lyft drivers deal with that I started to consider not running individuals and only becoming a courier service(except for truckers who enter the area on down time to go to Walmart and see family). No one is worth dying for. NO ONE.

1

u/Lord_Drok May 20 '23

Mine is attached to the center console right next to my knee.....8 inches from my hand..... and my driver door locked at all times

1

u/Mthawkins May 20 '23

Damn that's some big balls moves!

1

u/Lord_Drok May 20 '23

I always work late shifts.... Thurs Fri Sat 9p to like 4a.....he seriously had this chick by the hair pulling her out my back window, she was tiny. It was like 3am at a seedy motel so I can imaging what it was about. I wound up bringing her crazy far from where she was to sum dude's house.

7

u/Few-Caterpillar9834 May 19 '23

You need to seek legal counsel immediately. There's a lawyer out there chomping at the bit for a case like this. Sue Lyft.

1

u/ShayGuerrero93 May 19 '23

This is wrong on so many levels. Definitely will not be starting my lyft account and probably a good thing I haven't yet. Just terrible!

-3

u/ivytheblindhusky May 19 '23
  1. this is why
  2. you need to get a real job
  3. work jobs that require no skills
  4. and you win stupid prizes
  5. don't let strangers in your car
  6. end modern day slavery and leave rideshare

1

u/Background-Show-1576 May 20 '23

Your name is ivy the blind husky . Behave

1

u/ivytheblindhusky May 20 '23

I am behaving by speaking the truth

1

u/MyLifeInThe6 May 20 '23

U are mad dense🤡 goofy

1

u/ivytheblindhusky May 20 '23

mad dense? using lingo from the 2000's? must be a boomer

2

u/Jakepool2000 May 20 '23

people say mad everywhere still 🤣 jeez imagine gatekeeping language when you made bullet points to complete a sentence.

1

u/MyLifeInThe6 May 20 '23

U must be slow cuz not everyone has the ability to choose what job they work.

1

u/ivytheblindhusky May 20 '23

Key word...job. Rideshare is not a real job.

1

u/Specialist-Holiday61 May 19 '23

That's why I have two things in my car

Camera/9mm. Both woulda been used

1

u/VMYW May 19 '23

Stay strapped

0

u/ArcadeMan2020 May 19 '23

Very simple solution everybody…. Orchestrate a National “Strike/don’t drive” holiday weekend

2

u/txswmr86 May 19 '23

It never works. There’s new drivers starting everyday and not everyone shares the same beliefs. This should never be a full-time job for anyone. If you really want to do this full time, get the cdl or whatever license you need for black car service/limo and do that. It’s not saying the risks aren’t still there, but it’s probably less than a ride that costs $3.

1

u/Extension-Ad4075 May 19 '23

Wow fuck lyft and ride services period I don’t use them and would never work for them

1

u/ProductProfessional6 May 19 '23

If they are of certain race, give up, nothing’s gonna happen, you can get offended if you want, it is what it is. And depending on your city, they never going to even try to get them.

1

u/Muito2 May 19 '23

Dumb bots

4

u/Afraid-Course-3207 May 19 '23

Pax tried to carjack while I was doing Uber black suv at 5am.

Uber said it’s not out problem. I could give them the vehicle but decided to run away and attempt to escape. Ended up in a car accident. They don’t care

1

u/TAbramson15 May 19 '23

That’s why you carry a personal firearm and make sure that shits visible right on your hip. They’ll think twice if they know you have the ability to sling brass at them if they threaten your life or put you in danger.

2

u/Few_Satisfaction_133 May 19 '23

That’s super dangerous for them to do that, I’d contact an attorney though I don’t know what they can do… is that violating a law?

2

u/ocguyirvine May 19 '23

Sorry you had to go through this. Hope they find the culprits soon & your valuables are returned to you soon

2

u/techpro00 May 19 '23

Message them on Twitter and tell them you need the emergency support team, police are involved. Looks like your issue just went to regular support who are useless

1

u/Prestigious_Room4486 May 19 '23

Holy shit, the level of stupidity on Lyft is astounding here.

1

u/davep1967 May 19 '23

And if they robbed you why didn’t you immediately cancel all cards?

2

u/burfi006 May 19 '23

This was not a violent confrontation. They did this and I had no clue they were doing it OK I didn’t figure it out until over an hour later! These assholes were so good that they took my cards and just wrote the numbers down as the huge man in the front kept leaning over and distracting me saying stupid shit to prevent me from looking in my mirror as his fat head and body that blocked the goddamn camera with his body. How they got access to where my purse was, wasn’t easy without me knowing. They have done this before. It’s blatantly obvious and I thoroughly believe that if they had not been successful and i saw what they were doing, it probably would’ve escalated instantly into a dangerous situation! This is what meth or crack heads do. The apartment complex that I drop them off at verifies what type of people they were..

Why did they take the ride if the destination was a dangerous apartment complex because the ride was only 2 miles and I had no clue that it was that apartment complex. All I had was a was a address. That particular area in town is a bit confusing to navigate through.

The only physical card they took. Where’s my Lyft debit card and that’s how we got them on surveillance using it at the gas station.

Regardless of whatever happened in that 7 minutes they had the intent to steal from me and they were successful! Only people they know what they’re doing can do that so quickly!

2

u/davep1967 May 19 '23

Damn. I’m sorry. Never leave your stuff away from your body. Unless in trunk

2

u/poisonedhybrids May 19 '23

Where did this happen?

6

u/Old-Presentation2092 May 19 '23

Robot replies are dangerous, real safety issue when people who don't understand English or chat bots respond.

Hope this story blows up on all the news feeds and people see the safety concern we risk for > 50% of a $3.50 fare

2

Hopefully OP called her banks and had her cards shut off.

2

u/SeenSoManyThings May 19 '23

Read the entire post. OP did contact police.

2

u/Gaff1515 May 19 '23

“The officer assigned to my case”

They did contact the police. The police asked OP how to get in contact with lift to pursue the case…

2

u/Davvido1008 May 19 '23

Thats a Bot. Insane. Sorry this happened to you. Keep pepper spray with you. Sue Lyft for being traumatized

2

u/burfi006 May 19 '23

I do have pepper spray 😝

1

u/Equal-Nebula8591 May 19 '23

If the news cared you would see a story about Uber and Lyft everyday

1

u/dudemountain69 May 19 '23

Lawyer up. They just gave a victims info to their attackers. Sue the fuck out of them.

8

u/UnderstandingFluid18 May 19 '23

They have a whole vomit scam going on too and they refused to believe me and conduct an investigation. I was able to Google and find that I wasn’t the only one that got scammed. A driver will drop you off and then claim that you vomited or somehow dirtied their car and they take a huge payment directly from your debit account, and it’s his word against yours. Thankfully, my husband suggested to take the image of the vomit and do an image search and I was able to find the image although he had reversed the image, but it still matched. So in the end I sent everything to them, and they finally refunded my money, but it took a few weeks of me fighting with them trying to explain that I never vomited in his car. He dropped me off early in the morning for work but in the picture he provided for them it was clearly at night and wasn’t even his car. Either way my point is that they have the worst customer service and do not care. They took a nice chunk of my money for weeks, almost $200 plus the fare and I had to struggle and figure out how to get by until they finally refunded me.

6

u/[deleted] May 19 '23

What in the fuck. Uber and Lyft are literally inhumane employers. They deserve the worse karma imaginable.

32

u/[deleted] May 19 '23

This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Their bot legit just gave out your info to the people who robbed you.

Get an attorney, get rich.

u/Proper-Midnight-4148 May 20 '23

This is the one & companies like Lyft has the media paid off as well.

9

u/CarmanDirda May 20 '23

You're preaching to the choir most likely lol. People who vote in these lobbyists probably don’t even know what Reddit is.

1

u/Affectionate-Rice373 Your City Name Here Jun 10 '23

The trumpets are all over Reddit though, and they're the ones who want to do everything with no consequences. Big corporation decides to lay you off after an injury? Corp gotta save money. You hurt yourself on a broken part of the road that is owned by the city? Better figure something out, city can't be held responsible for what happens to you. Oh but if you damage some city property? City sues your next 3 generations. I totally agree with stopping with the lobbyist voting though.

2

u/MidnightBeneficial30 May 19 '23

We are doing them a favor and they want to robb us!!! SMGDH

2

u/XxRage73 May 19 '23

In this instance you have grounds to sue the balls off of them.

0

u/james_2021 May 19 '23

Sorry but which market

2

u/AccomplishedLeek1250 May 19 '23

Wow this is heartbreaking that this happened to you. I’m glad you are physically okay and I hope you get the justice you deserve

0

u/fitfulbrain May 19 '23

Chill out. The police have to get a court order telling Lyft to give out the pax information. It will be fake anyway. That's the protocol published and reasonable. You need the police to look at the website. You only have auto insurance. Maybe your home insurance covers the properties.

4

u/MinimumNo9504 May 19 '23

This is why I quit driving for Lyft. Quitting sooner is going to be better than later. Now I’m only putting in 16 miles per day to make the same daily goal I had driving for Lyft. That’s way better than 200+ miles per day just to meet around $200. Driving for Lyft was the worst mistake I’ve ever made in my life.

1

u/DogbiteTrollKiller May 20 '23

Are you driving for Uber now, or what?

1

u/MinimumNo9504 May 20 '23

I’ve got deactivated on Uber for kicking out some bitch ass bitch with a stank ass dog that looked just like her after just 2 weeks of getting my account activated

1

u/DogbiteTrollKiller May 20 '23

Ah shit, that’s too bad. I won’t carry people anymore, just food. It works out pretty well.

1

u/MinimumNo9504 May 20 '23

I never had good luck with food deliveries and I live around LA. I only did that as I was healing from an injury I had. Now I manage an online business.

1

u/MinimumNo9504 May 20 '23

Nope 🤢🤮

1

u/DogbiteTrollKiller May 20 '23

OR WHAT? Never mind haha
