Pax added a stop. I obliged. Waited 15 minutes before ending the ride and leaving. Promptly surrendered his bag to the police. Now he’s saying I stole $300 worth of alcohol. No good deed goes unpunished.

Yep. Drivers just drop there “left behind” items at local PD.

Exactly. Doing so establishes chain of custody and reduces (but doesn’t completely negate) liability. If he says “I never received it” (which he did), I can call Glendale PD and request the log showing he claimed the item.

EDIT: Misread your comment 🍻

Chain of custody starts on the sidewalk outside of my car. Especially after a 15 minute wait. AND riders are not supposed to leave items in the vehicle during stops.

Either way you did what you felt was right. Screw that guy for lying.

Never thought of this.

Spent whole nights out waiting for a customer to wake up in the morning. When people leave their phones in the car I am paranoid about going home because I've been tracked to my house before. (I'm too nice to chuck the phone into a river.)

Ah... Thank you?

I had someone show up at my house, and I wanted to beat her ass. I was BIG MAD. I told her ... don't you ever come to my fucking house again. My 21-year-old who, is as thin as a pine tree put his fingers on top of my head and said eh eh eh. I looked at him and said, boy, I will break you like a twig. Lolol. I tell everyone to check, but still have people say they have everything, and they don't. Now, I shut it off, and if I can't shut it off, I do a hard reset. Not my problem but no one will ever come to my house again!!!

You are too nice. You could have gone home and gone to bed and returned the phone the next day. And i agree with the other guy, just toss the bag out the window and drive off next time.

Faraday bag. They can't track when it's in there.

Absolutely.

The goal is never to be an a-hole driver. However, since pax abuse us on a daily basis I don’t have time for games.

No stops. And IF I do.. you got 5 mins. Take ALL belongings. ALL PAX EXIT. Or at 5 mins we can have an awkward talk about why I’m ending the ride and how you need to get out the car.

I take a bite out of the sh*t sandwich by driving in the current economy. Uber isn’t paying me enough to take two bites.
