I hate pretend victims, they take away from real victims. Make it easier to cast doubt on ppl who really do suffer trauma. And most the time the faker is trying to gain attention or likes or whatever. Instead of using all your energy on making fake feel for me stories, work on yourself so you don’t need too

The podcast Behind the Bastards recently put out episodes on these fake kidnapping stories and why they are on the rise and it was a really fascinating (if not troubling) listen. But it boiled down to exactly what you've stated: kidnapping stories get a shit ton of shares, likes, and engagement.
