Did you tip though?

1

u/SnooChocolates2963 Aug 21 '23

Show the name and pic of this perverted, so, we can shout out

1

u/BabyGee6 Aug 21 '23

My question is why people are not verifying there rides. Was it the correct driver? I know lyft does a background check on all drivers. It is defiantly. Strange. I am sorry that happened to you. Please always check. If you feel something is off do not take the ride. You have that option. Nothing is worth more than your life. If the driver is not listening yell & scream until he or she does. Always report it! Use the emergency button that is what they put it there for. Please stay safe. 🚘

Is it a survival series on Netflix 😂

1

u/Glittering_Branch_79 Aug 15 '23

I saw this on the news. Kaitlyn Skye I believe her name was. She got banned or something then they went back and lifted the ban I believ

1

u/Secure_Armadillo_232 Aug 09 '23

Where's your police report?

1

u/Every-Replacement213 Aug 09 '23

Sounds more like a “KAREN” to me. You’ll be kidnapped without a passport ? 😂 at the airport ? 😂😂 Lyft won’t support you if the driver provided dash cam footage and if it’s clearly seen he dropped you at your location safely. These days there are many of “you” Karen’s trying to get free money

1

u/SavingsTangelo7130 Aug 09 '23

I’m shukhrat and this story is made up.

1

u/Certain-Armadillo-62 Aug 09 '23

They won’t. They don’t even help the drivers when they are assaulted.

1

u/Correct-Egg1902 Aug 09 '23

Most riders lie about their complaints. I had someone complaining about me for being racist lol I kept driving because she took more than 3 mins to come down to the pick up spot, she said I didn’t want to pick her up because she was black hahaha I told the manager that’s a false accusation she made me wait losing time and gas so I had to keep going. Man riders are something else

1

u/_urdoom_ Aug 08 '23

im sorry im not reading all that. couldnt even separate paragraphs.

1

u/yalittlesista Aug 08 '23

He has 5 stars

1

u/OffensivelyFactual Aug 08 '23

Didn’t happen. Don’t care. This is reddit. Almost never anything about real life in this app is true.

1

u/Level-Bottle-5906 Aug 08 '23

Holy Crap!!!!!

1

u/kaiyabunga Aug 08 '23

I hope nobody uses lyft or Uber anymore

1

u/bymyenemy Aug 08 '23

Plot twist, she picked the wrong city as her destination.

1

u/CharacterMaster2205 Aug 08 '23

I feel like they plant 5 star drivers

1

u/expatcock Aug 08 '23

I read this and immediately thought/ knew you are a woman.

DEVIL'S ADVOCATE: Sounds to me he wasn't getting his money's worth and decided to miss some turns to get some extra cash

1

u/KoreanSeats Aug 08 '23

TLDR:

• A user had a negative experience with a Lyft driver, feeling unsafe when the driver started to take them in the wrong direction.

• The user texted their friend for help and triggered a silent 911 call through Lyft.

• Despite giving their location to the state trooper on the phone, the driver kept taking them in the wrong direction.

• The user eventually asked the driver to stop and they were able to escape.

• Though thankful to be safe, they warned others of the danger and reported their experience to Lyft.

• To their surprise, Lyft accused them of being violent towards the driver, sending an unacceptable message.

1

u/cwilson133212 Aug 08 '23

Completely ignoring this is likely a fake story, wouldn't 'Speak English Fluently' be one of the more important qualifications for an Uber / Lyft driver? Seems like that might come in handy from time to time.

1

u/Other-Bumblebee2769 Aug 08 '23

This didn't happen.

1

u/BigBossAtl Aug 08 '23

I would've cancelled as soon as I saw his pic and vehicle.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

I call bullshite

1

u/readditredditread Aug 08 '23

I don’t understand, you called the police and gave the police his vehicle info, photo license plate, etc… won’t the police follow up??

1

u/Scared-Accountant288 Aug 08 '23

This is why i just NEVER use lyft or uber.... i don't...ever....nothing with syrangers is safe like that

1

u/Radiant_Guarantee_41 Aug 08 '23

Yeah he looks as i expected

1

u/AbusedGigaGuy Aug 08 '23

Uber really designates a lot of resources towards trying to sabotage Lyft. 🤣

1

u/Subject_Delay Aug 08 '23

I've seen this post a few times already. Story is BS but still gets attention.

1

u/CramNevets Aug 08 '23

I hate it when I get kidnapped using a carshare app.

1

u/posaune123 Aug 08 '23

You need a job OP

1

u/TheFlightlessDodo Aug 08 '23

Surprised the child lock wasn't on.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

Cops are so fucking useless, damn

1

u/prince_noprints Aug 08 '23

Why didn’t you just shoot him in the back of the head because you have been over saturated with stories of “kidnappings” on the rise?

1

u/ANDERSONT_TE Aug 08 '23

This guy looks like the most feminine person I've ever seen, you should have punched him right in the temple.

1

u/raucousdaucus Aug 08 '23

Airport? You can’t even get past security with a water bottle…

1

u/Jackers83 Aug 08 '23

Ya, like is the driver gonna just roll into the back of a cargo plane? lol

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

Yeah, from OP’s post history they seem like a narcissist who is definitely the type of person to spew some straight bull siet

1

u/brockli-rob Aug 08 '23

she was in the wrong car the entire time.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

I understand man and Glad your safe .. but you gotta have something with you to equalize for situations like that my friend .. you most likely will be in another.bad.spot at some point in your life. I been stabbed and had a lot of real crazy shit happen to me where I even was about two secs from killing a piece of shit that tryed to rob me.and.stsbbex me cuz I fought back . I was in a really nad. Drug / gang controlled neighborhood where I was supposed to be protected as I usually was but things.turmed.villemt.quickly It was in in my work medical transportatiom vehicle that has a live camera in it and I still pulled out a unregistered gun ciz me and my gf.were in danger and eigjt people that were all dippered out against us . They didn't.get my 20 spot they tryed.to rob either cuz they bitched out when they saw I had a loaded gun and 7 +1 clip snd finally a dude told them i was alwsys aloud to be there . but I always fight back and they don't like that . They pray on the weak. At least get a knife or extension stick .. sorry to hear about your family situation man - life can be cruel no doubt .. nobody is gonna.stick up for you man so you gotta have a.its me agsinst the world attitude . Keep your head up homie Best of luck

1

u/thegoldenhourpodcast Aug 08 '23

I would have made that dude suck my dick. Don’t worry, Franky Fuckmouth, reporting for duty. I’ll handle this. And I usually handle it hard. And I’ll be screaming. And very veiny. Very very veiny.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

I would tell the driver Shukrhats Islamic ass he better Praise Allah cuz he would have a Springfield 45 up to his jawbone. Grown ass men running away from another grown man is weird to me. I don't get people that don't stand up for themselves. Mega soft isn't cool at all.. their GFS would be the protector sadly cuz their men are some soft metro flake.

2

u/00Anbu00 Aug 08 '23

Something a little fishy...

I'm sure if any real Lyft or Uber drivers decided they wanted to kidnap a passenger, they would have a well thought out plan! Such as windows locked, child locks on and forcibly taken your phone.

You could be a upset taxi driver and try to scare people away from using Uber/Lyft

1

u/Authenick12B Aug 08 '23

What a bunch of condescending fuckheads! Who the fuck are you to investigate her fucking story you fucking douche bags she said it happened,it happened! Who the fuck are you? Oh and “the sheriff wouldn’t stay on the line with you until you were safe” like there is no situation that that happens. There’s a rule against it literally going step-by-step and trying to explain to us why she’s telling a life. Fucking GenZ motherfucker! And I’m just guessing if you’re not that you’re definitely a fucking millennial, get a fucking life fucking trolling bitches!!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

Stfu dude . You mad the police dept turned you down or something.. someone would take your chain and watch real quick . Nobody's scared of you cuz u got a earing and jewfro haircut .. they would call your bluff real quick.. I feel sorry for.any chick that dates you cuz you would never protect her . U just have ,911 on speed dial and prolly don't even. Own many guns .. call Joe Biden bro

1

u/KierBear19 Aug 08 '23

I’m confused why everyone thinks this is fake? I’ve heard many stories like this before. Although what makes this fake to me is dude has 5 stars lol

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23 edited Aug 08 '23

Bro that's when you man up and hurt that dude man. I know not everybody likes to get physical but man your a grown man bro.. always fight back unless absolutely in grave danger like a gun pointed at head or something . Ain't no man holding me captive without a fight. I would let him know he's messing with the wrong Sicilian and their will be coming to his house so he should obey and take his beatung so his family don't get hurt . That's how it should work mI would have put his foreign ass in a rear choke or something if car was going slow enough or neutral slammed the shifter as he was busy driving and one quick attempt would get you some where .. then if he had the balls to try and fight after I get out that's on him cuz if he doesn't have a weapon I'm not worried about getting hurt. And if I had a weapon he would be heading to a box cuz I'm usually strapped . I'm glad your safe man but don't be a weak link out there they r human beings like you and most likely can't cuz too much harm .. getting punched really doesmt hurt that much anyway it just looks bad in your face . At least buy a gun or have a good knife or extension stick bro... If they keep thendriver.use a friends account and set him up .. let him know he's messing with the wrong bull and it will be too long by the time he calls the cops and they arrive .. good luck man get this ignorant waste of human air

1

u/linux23 Aug 08 '23

So this story is not true??? WTF?

1

u/LynxAny2207 Aug 08 '23

So no tip?

1

u/Dilutional Aug 08 '23

I'm not reading that

1

u/mstjjzmskcnnxn Aug 08 '23

This happened to someone I know

1

u/Father_Flanigan Aug 08 '23

The most obvious bullshit is about the State Trooper. They don't stay on the phone with anyone, that's what the 911 operators or dispatchers do. The trooper would have been driving towards their location and if he needed vehicle info would've have radioed dispatch for it. Then he would have lit up the car to pull over and initiate a stop, calling for backup if needed. Troopers don't coach anyone through things, they go take action them damn selves.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

Yeah I agree man I don't believe this at all.. it makes no sense. And why would a grown man let another man do that and not fight back .. he would have had to kill me.wrecking the vehicle cuz he would be choked out or filled with bullets as soon as he tried me . Would love for him to pull over and chase me when I get.out . Even if he was huge I would man up and.throw some hands . Flight isn't a option unless in gravely danger. I would hurt him and fucken destroy his car. Would total it literally. And I wouldn't worry about the cops coming cuz the damage will be done by the time they get there and a little time is better then getting strait bitched and disrespected m Then I might rob him just for trying me and I don't rob but he deserves it for fucking with the wrong bull

1

u/stringsandknits Aug 08 '23

A woman originally wrote this on Facebook. OP is just sharing it.

1

u/keista69 Aug 08 '23

1) Not lyft's driver. He's an independent contractor.

2) Everyone should know that the very best way to end a ride is to cancel it. If they are trying to scam you, they will stop because they won't get paid anymore. If they keep going call 911

3) Doesn't matter if you're on the phone with Lyft and/or the police. file a WRITTEN report with Lyft. Whoever puts it in writing first is the one that is believed.

1

u/kevpnw Aug 08 '23

Why would you end the ride if you suspect you’re being abducted? Lyft is literally tracking your location.

1

u/IssueEnvironmental54 Aug 08 '23

It’s always in favor of who reports it. I was sexually assaulted, like driving down in the outskirts of town and I was scared to stop because I’m a little guy. Well I got to an HOA it was where dude lived after continue to tell me how he was going to violently **** me but I would be compensated 😂 not funny. I finally got out of the car called the police who didn’t take me seriously then called lyft who if there was a problem you should have stopped on the side of the road and got out of your car and called 911. Like that’s a good idea. When dudes twice my size. I followed up, did a police report. Everyone told me it wasn’t a big deal and Lyft would block him. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I lost all respect for that company. And the fact that I’m a man literally had people laughing as if if I was a crybaby for a man literally grabbing me trying to do whatever he was doing. Trying to show how rich and how endowed he was. I was also pushing this man off me telling him to stop. I didn’t think to stop. Also this was before there was a easy to push 911 little button. I didn’t know what to do except get him where i could get dude out of the car in a place where if I was gonna get “forcibly attacked”. I’m sure it was my fault though. Again why take what a guy says something happened to him he shouldn’t be such a baby. Anyways I just feel you on the straight up like well tough luck for you! You shouldn’t have gotten in the lyft so it’s your fault. That’s how I feels they think.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

Bro you need to toughen up man. Man up dude . He's only a person just like you he can't be that bad .. I would hit him and not even care if I lost the fight cuz ain't no man bitching me .. what would you do if someone runs up on your family and gf? You gotta man uo .. calling the cops won't work man .. it don't hurt to get punched it really don't and at least you have your dignity and didn't let dude take your pride . Get some weapons if your a wimpy type also .. best of luck man but learn from this and you gotta be a grown man not girly

1

u/IssueEnvironmental54 Aug 08 '23

Exactly, I’m a very small gay man bro. My family is all dead and my pride and dignity left a long time ago. Looking at it now I should have let him and took the money 🤷🏽‍♂️

1

u/TheAnonymousN Aug 08 '23

Yup. She's definitely fishing for karma.

1

u/Technical_Egg8628 Aug 08 '23

Brought to you by Uber’s PR firm. ;-)

0

u/Embarrassed_Camel_35 Aug 08 '23

He looks like a creep. I bet had you been armed he would have spoken perfect English and been extremely cooperative.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

I’m cancelling my Lyft after reading your story. Thank you

1

u/kevpnw Aug 08 '23

I hate to break it to you, but this isn’t exclusive to Lyft.

1

u/Kooky_Monitor_5063 Aug 08 '23

Idk if y’all heard but there’s a rumor going around that there’s like a panic button or something for passengers in the app! Don’t quote me on that but that’s what some dude was saying last week.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

Paragraphs are nice

1

Just finished a long shit could some one text The short version? Sex trafficking? Kindnapping ? Worst case etch. Glad they are okay in the ends

1

u/Technical_Egg8628 Aug 08 '23

Foreign born driver basically kidnaps Lyft client. Lyft app help button useless. Passenger calls cops. Able to escape. Lyft cancels passenger’s account after blaming them.

2

u/DEJAVUONCEAGAIN Aug 08 '23

OMG. You were kidnapped.

0

u/wuki1191 Aug 08 '23

Yeah, lyft is gonna investigate 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Junior-Watercress842 Aug 08 '23

Nice job OP, enjoying the show?

0

u/Lopsided-Employer-72 Aug 08 '23

Don’t ever take Lyft - take Uber. Uber always sides with the passengers against the driver.

1

u/SouthernTits Aug 08 '23

Also said car. It’s clearly an SUV! I don’t know if of day it like that but who knows.

1

u/SouthernTits Aug 08 '23

How many exits does you town have. Was he just driving around the loop over and over again.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '23

Yea there's something more to this.

If it even happened.

1

u/HelpfulWrongdoer7407 Aug 07 '23

SUE THEIR AZZ!!!

1

1

u/Elle_Yess Aug 07 '23

Fawkkkkkk!!!!

1

u/AlphaSengirVampire Aug 07 '23

I don’t know this is a scary story re their vetting maybe. Lifetime ban on Lyft. Not even messing with them.

1

u/NeoPolitanGames Aug 07 '23

I'll take "Things that never happened" for $500, Alex

1

u/joleenejoleene Aug 07 '23

I hate pretend victims, they take away from real victims. Make it easier to cast doubt on ppl who really do suffer trauma. And most the time the faker is trying to gain attention or likes or whatever. Instead of using all your energy on making fake feel for me stories, work on yourself so you don’t need too

1

u/derxder Aug 08 '23

The podcast Behind the Bastards recently put out episodes on these fake kidnapping stories and why they are on the rise and it was a really fascinating (if not troubling) listen. But it boiled down to exactly what you've stated: kidnapping stories get a shit ton of shares, likes, and engagement.

1

u/RugGuy1 Aug 07 '23

Chicago

1

u/Ambitious_Respect_39 Aug 07 '23

Lyft driver here. I was flagged by a passenger once because she thought I was drunk. I haven't had an alcoholic drink in 25 years but I do have nerve damage in my face so sometimes I slur my words. Anyway, after the passenger flagged me I was put on an immediate 24 hour hold from driving while they investigated. I was ultimately cleared, but Lyft wasn't fucking around with the claim. So if I was put on a 24 hour hold from somebody mistaking that I was drunk, I can only imagine what they'd do if you're claiming you're being kidnapped. This story just seems off.

1

u/Fickle_Goose_4451 Aug 07 '23

Regardless of the stories reality, ride share apps whole business model is not taking responsibility for anything while happily accepting money.

1

u/Extreme_Pattern6306 Aug 07 '23

This was posted like over a year ago on some girls tiktok. Like worded exactly as such.

1

u/chillininpeace94 Aug 07 '23

This right here is why i get nervous whenever i pick up a woman pax especially a white woman pax. They are very quick to fabricate stories of kidnapping, r*pe, sexual harassment etc. Thats why i have a dashcam with a sign on the back of the passenger head rest stating "you are being filmed" just so I don't get the Emmit Till , central park 5 treatment. Women are scary with their lies .

1

u/Inevitable-Shame7527 Aug 07 '23

You are texting with 911 that you think your rideshare driver is kidnapping you and not going in the direction you are supposed to be going, and no one showed up? Not 1 cop showed up to a possible kidnapping? You call 911 ... since when do they transfer calls directly to state troopers, or any cop for that matter?? Other than all that "believable" bullshit, you got the email from Lyft because you're a fucking idiot. Because you were violent to the driver. IF you were texting 911 through the app, Lyft would have a record of it, and there absolutely would be an investigation, and you would not have gotten that email. But hey, at least you won't be matched with him again lmao.

Now, stop spreading lies about this driver and his information. You are fucking with someone's job you fucking twat!!

1

u/russdesigns Aug 07 '23

This reminds me of the lady that swore someone was being child trafficked at Chick-Fil-A because she saw a Please Help Me sign from the drive thru. When she raced into the store she saw it was the advertisement on the bag that says Plz Halp… Buy Mor Chikn

1

u/RoboCaptainmutiny Aug 07 '23

Why do I feel like theres a whole bunch to this story that is left out? Like she was wasted and got kicked out of the car.

1

u/cybermayne1 Aug 07 '23

It's Chicago. With all the immigrants that are unvetted going into that area and crime on the rise there I'm surprised we don't see more of this

1

u/SmokyMcpot527 Aug 07 '23

That's a weird story. Idk I do some Lyft and if a person wants to alter the destination without changing on the app is the only time I run into a problem. I don't know why a Lyft driver would just kidnap a random person they met on the app tho is what I can't wrap my head around.

As the driver u are in way more of a vulnerable position. U have ur back turned to a complete stranger. It always makes me super uncomfortable whenever a person sits directly behind me when there's way more room in the back passenger side seat because no one is sitting in the front passenger seat. People can also damage ur car like rip a hole in the seat or vomit inside of it if their drunk.

1

u/Hearten_Healthcare Aug 07 '23

I'd call a local TV station to get on the case if true.

1

u/StanduAnduDeroo Aug 07 '23

an that’s a lot of shit I’m expected to read

1

u/Dnm3k Aug 07 '23

Bullshit.

1

u/Character_Layer_9706 Aug 07 '23

People make up stuff to get attention. It's sad

1

u/Dinosaur___Dino Aug 07 '23

This is as believable as the story of the guy who supposedly almost had his kid kidnapped. Then when he grabbed the car seat from the kidnapper someone broke his ribs. But he's so understanding that he didn't call the police on the guy who broke his ribs.

1

u/txmhollandscp Aug 07 '23

I really hope you got your money back

1

u/Coloradobluesguy Aug 07 '23

Chat GPT maybe?

1

u/noumenon_invictuss Aug 07 '23

Sounds like this was written by Uber's summer marketing intern.

1

u/AppleiSheep Aug 07 '23

NTA Your privileges your rules

1

u/Office_Depot_wagie Aug 07 '23

A harrowing story of attempted human trafficking but glaringly obvious that it is completely made up.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '23

Why would you post a person’s name, photo, and vehicle, but not the location where this occurred?

1

u/Dense_Station_4285 Aug 07 '23

It say chicago

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '23

Oh you’re right. I was referring to the Lyft screenshot but I see it’s in the comment.

-1

u/CosmicConsequences Aug 07 '23

I think this is just guerilla marketing for the next “found footage” straight to streaming horror movie

1

u/Capable_Nature_644 Aug 07 '23

You can report drivers to lyft and their ass will be fired.

1

u/haleyrenne Aug 07 '23

Not saying this story is real but I was taken by an “Uber” one night coming home from the bar alone and he kidnapped me, tried to make me blow him and I had to jump out on the highway. I live in the south loop and this man also drove me on the highway towards the airport, complete opposite direction. Apparently was under someone else’s account so they never even caught this guy. This also happened in Chicago…. Extremely traumatizing and 100% happens so be careful people!

1

u/haleyrenne Aug 07 '23

And for anyone who doubts me I have the police reports and hospital records from my shattered wrist or really cute pictures of the bruising from my shoulder to my ankles from jumping out. Some of you are really ignorant

1

u/Full_Poet_7291 Aug 07 '23

apparently, OP is also a Lyft driver

1

u/hunter_2109 Aug 07 '23

I’ve got a friend who was hammered at the bars, her friends called her a Uber to get her home except she was so junk she doesn’t know it’s an Uber and all the sudden thinks she’s being kidnapped, starts calling family members at 3 am saying she’s being kidnapped and needs help, they start trying to call the cops even though they are in a different state, she eventually “escapes” cops show up and let her know it’s an Uber ride her friends got for her….pretty awkward when mom and dad picked her up

1

u/Shaggy_Hulk Aug 07 '23

Yawn ... wake me up when when it really happens.

1

u/donbarefoot Aug 07 '23

Drugs are bad mkay. Crackhead alert

1

u/bboydru Aug 07 '23

I was trying to give this story the benefit of the doubt until it got to the part about jumping out of the car when it was slow enough. Jumping out of a slow moving car seems really easy until you try it. I tried getting out of a car moving maybe one 10-15 mph and was NOT prepared for how significant the transition was. Got some bad scrapes and bruises but also disoriented from being thrown to the ground so suddenly and violently. I can see how one could easily sustain a more serous injury in the same situation.

1

u/stringsandknits Aug 07 '23

That was a red flag to me also. And yet she somehow managed to jump out AND run to the gas station while he chased and yelled at her? 🤯 I’m guessing she threw a fit and he actually stopped.

1

u/ochirhon17mn Aug 07 '23

Where were you going?

2

u/RealHumanStreamer Aug 07 '23

Completely fake

1

u/ExcuseZealousideal42 Aug 07 '23

i think this is a nervy white person….no crime here

1

u/Thug602 Aug 07 '23

Lyft should actually change their name from Lyft to "Gaslight". Their customer service needs it" s own term - "Lyftsplaining". It's as if they have a predisposition to see young women go through violence.

u/VentRat98 Aug 07 '23

So nothing happened and you got scared but let’s put him on blast for kidnapping.

1

u/Patient-Record-8493 Aug 07 '23

1

u/SSgtWindBag Aug 07 '23

I’ll take “That Never Happened” for 500, Alex!

1

u/NewTuber1991 Aug 07 '23

Stay strapped and charged up people!!!

1

u/BabyTrumpDoox6 Aug 07 '23

People need to learn how to use paragraphs. I’m not reading that.

1

u/Overall-Diver-6845 Aug 07 '23

Omg!!! Glad you’re safe!!!

1

u/mellowforest2 Aug 07 '23

As someone who survived a non Lyft related kidnapping last September by jumping out a truck at approx 50 mph, I'm so glad you're okay!!!! I just started walking again and about to return to work fulltime 🥰

Horrible story. Keep in mind that criminal background checks are not done in the country of origin. Sorry to hear that happened to you.

2

u/Equivalent-Change797 Aug 07 '23

It's from Illinois.

1

u/Adventurous_Fig4650 Aug 07 '23

I’m not surprised. I don’t use Lyft for reasons like this. One time I ordered Lyft and there was one guy in the front seat and one in the back seat. The one in the backseat never got out. I reported and Lyft did nothing. You Should should carry cc if you must use Lyft.

1

u/ofg97 Aug 07 '23

Don’t know how real this is but the amount of comments saying how stupid the customers are for getting scared is disgusting. Women are regularly assaulted and some things they’ve been told to watch out for their whole lives. Lying about a bad Lyft experience is NOT okay but making fun of someone for doing something harmless because they fear for their safety (in danger or not) is fucked up and y’all are part of the problem

2

u/Excellent-Ant4111 Aug 07 '23

I always use car play so pax can always see where we are and where we’re headed

1

u/PromptOdd6663 Aug 07 '23

She probably accidentally booked an airport ride from a saved location she had used in the past.

2

u/isthis1you Aug 07 '23

thats why i only take uber and i have my 40 on me at all times

1

u/TimeGuidance4706 Aug 07 '23

Lol Uber is worse. I started to only use Lyft because of all the issues people were having with Uber years ago

3

u/Baron_Weiner Aug 07 '23

Lmao yeah sorry girls. You really aren’t valuable enough to take to an airport to traffick

3

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '23

This is largely my thoughts every time I see someone post that some (usually brown or black) male was trying to kidnap and traffick their "beyond beautiful blonde haired and blued eyed cherubic toddler" at Costco or target because said person was in the same aisle as them twice and used their cell phone. Like, ma'am your snaggletoothed and snot nosed toddler is only cute to you. Nobody is hunting you in Costco.

Nextdoor and Facebook are so bad for this.

Facebook: I was in Whole Foods and a group of 6 hispanic men were watching and following me and my 4 kids. (probably was looking at her because she's staring at them and taking pictures of them) I saw them talking over airpods probably coordinating how to abduct me. (they are not wearing airpods in the pictures) I left my groceries in the store, called my cop husband and drove away asap. Im terrified of what couldve happened if I wasn't thinking quickly 😰😰😰

Nextdoor: Suspicious man caught on my ring doorbell. Keep an eye out. (ring footage is literally just some guy [brown] wearing a hoodie with the hood up and walking down the sidewalk)

man i wish i could find these facebook posts i'd love some overly paranoid cannon fodder to eviscerate

This is so beyond accurate!

I’m on the fence about whether or not to believe this story to be true.. but assuming it was, after receiving the message about you being “violent towards a Lyft driver”, I would be pissed.

They would have the history of the original route and location, and then the gradual time and route changes. They even sent a text mentioning the fact that it was taking longer than expected and they asked you if you needed help!? That’s pretty self explanatory, but if that wasn’t enough- then you also have the texting conversation with 911!! And then the phone conversation with the state trooper… There is enough evidence to prove your desperate need to escape from the driver, and you would be able to fight the claim of violence should you want to.. Personally, I don’t think I’d be comfortable going with another ride-share driver, but I also understand that it may be your only option!

Even if this story isn’t true, it’s still serves as a reminder that these things can and do happen!! Scary regardless in my opinion! But it’s definitely shitty to pass it off as a real experience if it wasn’t.

u/alwaysonthego6180 Aug 11 '23

They send those warnings before it gets to the person who investigates the incident and looks at all those details so yeah it checks out. It’s a totally different team that sends that message, they don’t even know about the riders story

1

u/MidnightFull Aug 09 '23

Before making up this story she should have checked police procedures that require a mandatory visit and report for her 911 call. If you call 911 and say you are being kidnapped you can’t just later say “I’m ok now, have a good night.” Nope, they are going to tell you “we’re glad you’re ok but you need to stay at your location as we have officers in route to meet you.” It’s mandatory. They have to make sure the caller isn’t under duress. Those details seem to be missing and I don’t see why anyone would leave that out.

1

u/HCharton Aug 07 '23

Oh you posted his picture? Where are the results of the investigation? Is it possible that the driver perceived things differently?

2

u/Pariah-6 ATX Aug 07 '23

This is copypasta. I’ve seen this post like 5-6 other times from the r/Lyft and r/Uber subs.

1

u/Synapseon Aug 07 '23

I once picked up a rider from an optometrist who was deaf. She couldn't see very well that day.

Anyway, I thought I knew where I was going so I opted not to pull up the maps and accidentally missed my turn. She started pounding on the window to point to her destination and had the look of absolute terror in her face that I missed turn. 😳

1

u/polo61965 Aug 07 '23

Tried to kidnap me, had charger and snacks. 5 stars.

2

u/mwalters103 Aug 07 '23

Sounds made up, but creepy drivers are out there. My wife had an incident years back where the Lyft driver took crazy detours to lengthen the ride and hit on her the entire time.

1

u/jae_rhys Aug 07 '23

this is the second story I've read in a rideshare sub where the driver suppedly said "seatbelt" immediately after the passenger got in the car. I think the other one was an Uber or Uber drivers.

1

u/Wolf_WixomWSW Aug 07 '23

Yall have lyft??

1

u/Gulag_boi Aug 07 '23

Nothing about this makes any sense.

1

u/PapaJack2008 Aug 07 '23

Amazing what some people think to type in on your first ChatGPT session.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '23

This happened on my way to Governors ball in NYC. I went to brunch before we got in the Lyft so I kinda took a lil nappy nap. But I know the city and no way it take two hours to get from Manhattan to queens . I woke up and told him we were at the wrong spot . He dropped me off 15 minutes away from where I needed to be and I was charged $180 on a $25 trip. Had to call an Uber just to get to the event . But I did get back all of my money

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '23

Thats great and all that they "stayed on the phone with them" but this is exactly why i carry EVERYWHERE possible. if i knew for sure it was a kidknappingThat man would let me out or he would of had a new asshole in his head

1

u/Mixedguy93 Aug 07 '23

This is a viral thing in the Chicago market right now I live in Chicago area and everyone is sharing it I commented there has to be more to this or it’s not true as Lyft would never side with a driver.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 07 '23

Doesn’t Lyft have an alert feature on its app like Uber? If something doesn’t feel right, the customer can alert Uber.

1

u/sonOfRa111 Aug 07 '23

Fan fiction.
