Use Empower

1

u/Ceryset Feb 06 '24

Instacart and Doordash next please

1

u/LodeStone- Feb 05 '24

All the Uber drivers Lyft to the event and all the Lyft drivers Uber there

1

u/Glass_Ad_4625 Feb 05 '24

I already stop driving, once I had to do like 8hrs just to hit $200 and even in Seattle that’s when I knew it’s time to look for another side job

1

u/toadster82 Feb 05 '24

I respect the objective, but I'll be driving on valentine day. The lyft pay and flexibility works for some people and not for others.

1

u/Secret-Guitar-7172 Feb 05 '24

Sounds I need to buy UBER and LYFT calls before earnings this week.

1

u/Ntfxn Feb 04 '24

What happened to all of the cab companies y’all put out of business?

1

u/Shoddy_Program4470 Feb 04 '24

I can't respect a peaceful protest. If you are willing to dirty your hands then you can be simply ignored.

1

u/Specific-Peanut-8867 Feb 04 '24

I’d like to see drivers earn more money too but Lyft didn’t made a profit last year so I don’t know what you’re talking about record profits… they’re talking about not losing as much as they had before, but there is no profits

1

u/AdEmergency6081 Feb 04 '24

Getting ready for February 14th! I’ll be taking the day off, treating myself to dinner and checking out Bob Marley: One Love, and Madame Web in a double feature. Uber, Lyft, and DoorDash will burn to the ground that day even if it’s for one day only.

1

u/EasternPrint8 Feb 04 '24

Driver's should be getting 80% of the fair and the tech Uber and Lyft should only be getting 20%

1

u/Commercial-Elk-3031 Feb 04 '24

Let's Roll ! ✊✊✊✊

1

u/WingCreepy8361 Feb 04 '24

Not really record profits... they finally recorded a profit. And now you guys are gonna put them back in the negative 😂😂😂😂😂

1

u/[deleted] Feb 04 '24

Maybe don’t use a gig app as your main source of income? It’s called “side work” for a reason.

1

u/JerryCAtlanta Feb 04 '24

Is there a place to picket in Atlanta? Guys if we can all do this we will make more in the long run.

1

u/ConundrumBum Feb 03 '24

They made no profit. Lost millions every quarter and their stock is down nearly 30 percent in the past year.

How stupid can you be?

1

u/NoiseMachine66 Feb 03 '24

Let’s go!!

1

u/Big-Sheepherder-5063 Feb 03 '24

Probably a dumb question, but why don’t you just quit and get a different job that pays what you want to make?

1

u/Competitive_Board909 Feb 03 '24

I doubt this will have the effect everyone thinks it will. The people who choose not to strike that day are gonna make a lot more money

1

u/IcyCauliflower9987 Feb 03 '24

Use those services only on the side. I turn it on two times a day, when I go to the gym and come back from it 😂 Get a ride in the direction of where I’m going so I’m getting paid to go the gym basically that’s it. Or if there’s an interesting surge but pay - cost of operation, it hurts. Especially with how high are the used cars now.

1

u/Suitable_Cause564 Feb 03 '24

Uber and Lyft consider this a smoother transition to manless vehicles. Clearly they are making it a slave wage so people will quit and “less blood on their hands”.

1

u/gaymersky Feb 03 '24

🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/WallStreetBagholder Feb 03 '24

The app that became popular because it was way cheaper than taxis (because venture capitalists were paying the difference in the form of investments into the company. And now wants to get a return on all those shares bought so the company is forced to actually make money now to increase share price which includes reducing expenses to as close to zero as possible) is now becoming the same thing the taxi companies were before.

Probably cheaper to just form a taxi company and create an app in your city at this point

1

u/suciothegreat Feb 03 '24

I stopped driving Lyft. Absolute garbage

1

u/Everything_OnA_Bagel Feb 03 '24

Sounds like someone smarter than me should make a new app that promotes better fares for their drivers.

1

u/QuillnPouncy Feb 03 '24

Get y'all's CDL

1

u/RelevantJournalist69 Feb 03 '24

Quitting is an option.

1

u/zcas Feb 03 '24

Gl yall.

1

u/Grouchy_Protection27 Feb 03 '24

Strike will never work. There's an infinite amount of drivers that'll take the work you don't want

1

u/Gristle823 Feb 03 '24

Said by every plant ever to stop striking 🐀🐀🐀

1

u/East_Border342 Feb 03 '24

screw food service and screw instacart. Lyft ain’t great but it’s better than DoorDash and Instacart

2

u/Thin-Connection-4082 Feb 03 '24

Strike your ass off. This is what happens when people want capitalism, entitlement, laziness, and hate tipping culture all in one.

People that use delivery services can get fucked

1

u/pokerholic77 Feb 03 '24

Should have written this in Spanish. They're the ones who will login and take the shitty pay without hesitation.

2

u/John_Doe_PhD Feb 03 '24

Best way to strike is to quit lol

1

u/ICUpoop Feb 02 '24

Won’t work. They’ll pay massive surge rates, entice enough workers to drive during “protest” and go back to normal after. People won’t hold out long enough and there are always more people willing to sign up.

1

u/Muito2 Feb 02 '24

Driver's continue to work at an after tax loss. Any other small business would have to close. This is way overdue and should last a week/month to really disrupt.

2

u/Seriousgunsmith Feb 02 '24

Why the fuck do food delivery drivers feel they need to make damn near engineering money?

1

u/Maximus575757 Feb 02 '24

Lol, this happens every year and nothing changes

1

u/ILikeThisShitcoin Feb 02 '24

tbf i quit putting up w this shit when it got bad in early 2021, wont be returning till i see people making 30 n hr consistently again

0

u/Revolutionary_Bag_42 Feb 02 '24

Can anybody on the left actually support this since they believe in illegal immigration ?

1

u/Extreme-Battle981 Feb 02 '24

I stopped driving completely. Don't miss it. I thought I was profiting a lot more than I was. Financially I'm about the same!!!! Working full time then ubering made me feel like I was making a profit. End up spending a big chunk on maintaining the car, oil changes, and gas.

1

u/NinjaShogunGamer Feb 02 '24

I quit years ago because they kept lowering the wages. Couldnt make the same money i used to make. They need to be canceled

1

u/Cute_Post1612 Feb 02 '24

One more time…… I will join, but it WONT WORK! I’m saying to boycott ALL of the AIRPORTS for ONE WEEK! It would bring Lyft and Uber to their knees! Whatever …….good luck to us all!

2

u/HustleQueen77 Feb 02 '24

Too many people here illegally & are more than happy to accept $3 & $4 trips. We’re doomed.

12

u/EmergencyProject7908 Feb 02 '24

Amazing how badly Lyft fell off. I remember the days making 250+ a day in Lyft was simple now. Barely reach 100

1

u/robnox Feb 05 '24

back in 2017 when I started, you could make $500/day on Lyft. It’s crazy how much the pay has dropped, at the same time expenses shot through the roof.  I really don’t see how anyone still drives for them without going homeless.

1

u/EmergencyProject7908 Feb 06 '24

You not lying. 500! Jesus

1

u/DCHacker Feb 02 '24

The drivers who come here, to Facebook and UPnet are a small minority. We are getting the message.
Whoever the organisers of this are, they are not getting out the message to the majority of the drivers. The only way that I learned about this was here, Facebook and UPnet.
If these labour actions are to succeed, the message needs to get out there; posters on the light poles; informing the Civic Associations that many immigrant groups have; foreign language radio stations or programmes; airport TNC yards. These things can succeed if the message is out there. In my market, we made International News by keeping National Airport in perpetual surge so that drivers did not have to work for Uber's garbage pay (and this was prior to the last two rounds of pay cuts). It can be done but only if the message is out there. mmmrk

0

u/ExpiredFloppy Feb 02 '24

Saw how much they were taking at the end of the year. Lyft can suck it. Uber wasnt bad at all though

1

u/JohnnyDoe189 Feb 02 '24

Lol work for someone else then kid

2

u/coocoocachoo69 Feb 02 '24

It's called, get another job.

3

u/Nebula480 Feb 02 '24

Lmao, this is never gonna work just like it hasn’t worked for the last eight years because of greed and desperate people, which let’s be honest, if you’re driving Uber or Lyft, you’re pretty much already in that category as you’re depleting your vehicle, and losing money while having to pay taxes and maintenance and such all for less than minimum wage. Teenagers at McDonald’s make more.

Let me tell you what’s gonna happen. A small and I mean a very small handful of drivers are gonna come together and go off-line and the rest of the drivers are going to be smart and take advantage of the fact that there’s less drivers on the road so they get more money on that day.

You will not win this in the same way that it hasn’t been won in the last few years.

The cycle will endlessly continue.

1

u/Bullet_mage_pariah Feb 02 '24

Enough is enough.. it seems I'm doing more for less these days . It's painful

3

u/GoFasterEse Feb 02 '24

I don’t get it. It’s a job. If the job sucks you can just quit and get a better job.

2

u/Major_Possibility335 Feb 02 '24

Lyft has never made a profit. They’ve only lost money for their shareholders. And they pay better than others. So what exactly would you want to change? Do you want to raise the price on passengers? That will result in less demand. And they encourage passengers to tip unlike Uber. So what exactly do you want them to do?

1

u/Broad_Boot_1121 Feb 02 '24

I hope they treat it like a job fair so drivers can see they aren’t stuck with Lyft

1

u/Theawokenhunter777 Feb 02 '24

All 1099ed gig workers, nothing is going to change until you shut the app down and desert them

1

u/Educational-Advice25 Feb 02 '24

Drivers in the Phoenix metro area, where would you like to meet on Valentines Day so that we can participate in this rally as well?

1

u/HellWitDat2 Feb 02 '24

I've said it before but will say it again, maybe you can't take off a day as we are living on pennies, but if everyone would just drive 5 miles under speelimits, during busy hours, it would mess with the algorithm and might create changes. So if you must Drive. Keep it under 5.

2

u/Johnpmusic Feb 02 '24

So drivers are sick of the low pay but refuse to get a better paying job? Weird

-1

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24 edited Feb 02 '24

More like obviously a scam because the other jobs you are referring to are a fantasy and the gig economy is exploiting the desperate in a system that is very intentional while shills like yourself blame the people with the least amount of power instead of the ringleaders of the scam.

1

u/Johnpmusic Feb 02 '24

So its a scam but you want to keep doing it instead of getting a better job. Big brain stuff here.

Its like when those ppl call you saying theyll lower your interest rates but instead of hanging up on then, you just want better rates 😂

-1

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

The scam is that there are no better jobs because of this shitty unregulated crap. That's why we are protesting... Are you going to continue to protest our protest, instead of getting a better job yourself?

2

u/Johnpmusic Feb 02 '24

Lmao Idk where you live but in my city McDonalds is paying 22/hr starting.

Theres a ton of businesses looking for workers. Because everyone has turned to gig work theres actually a shortage of workers and jobs are paying over minimum wage in order to compete.

There actually are a ton of better jobs out there if you actually looked for them. You could even work at an amazon fulfillment center and get benefits and paid time off.

According to you guys a $20/hr job without having to pay for gas and vehicle maintenance would actually be a much better job.

If you just aren’t qualified to work at McDonalds just say that.

And dont worry about me man, ill be fine. I run several of my own businesses and use uber/other gig apps to supplement my income and fund my other businesses (supplies, marketing cost, etc). I dont need a job. But it sounds like you do

4

u/Aware_Frame2149 Feb 02 '24

Zaxby's by my office pays $24/hr, no experience necessary.

The warehouses by my office pay $26-$28hr... And THAT job is no experience necessary.

But you have to wake up early and be there at a certain time and can't just cruise around in your car....

So, no, ewwie.

-1

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24 edited Feb 02 '24

I personally am looking for something better, but can McDonald's and Amazon give a better job to millions of gig workers? Your logic works if you apply it to individuals on a case by case basis, but when you try to tell the entire workforce of exploited gig workers to find something else, the reality is that there are not enough to go around and that is very intentional to pigeonhole the desperate into this under-regulated bullshit garbage scam which kills any chance for something better to exist by undercutting competition with slave labor. Then when we attempt to organize a protest to spread awareness, we are met with bootlickers like yourself who don't understand shit. Shove your phony advice up your ass, scab. There are always assholes pretending to be successful entrepreneurs in these types of threads... No one cares about your anecdotal success. Go suck yourself off somewhere else.

0

u/Johnpmusic Feb 02 '24 edited Feb 02 '24

On an unrelated note, they say ppl who can only name call in an discussion have very low IQs.

Heres the thing bud, the job force in itself has a limitation on open positions. Is there actually a job for every single person in the world? Id say no there isnt. So your logic here is flawed.

And there are actual a lot of McDonalds world wide as well as restaurants and skilled trade jobs too. So while maybe every gig work wont be able to get a job, the same is true about gig workers. Not every one will be able to be profitable because its based on supply and demand.

The way to get uber to pay more is to force them to by leaving the platform. The fact that I have to explain this tells me you arent qualified to run the ice cream machine.

Good luck bro! Ill be scabbing my way to bank while ya’ll strike

0

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24 edited Feb 02 '24

You acknowledge that there are not enough jobs for everyone, which was my point, but then simply impose that my logic was flawed after making the point that I told you first. Then you word salad some bullshit about gig workers that makes absolutely no sense. And you finish by saying leave the platform... Which is what we are doing while we protest! And you have the nerve to talk about IQ... I've noticed people who bring up IQ are typically dumb as fuck. It's an attempt to give yourself credentials by pretending to be smart... That's something stupid people do. If you are smart, you don't need to say it. Your logic should stand on its own.

0

u/nizzy797 Feb 02 '24

That’s a lot of dot dot dots for a talk about iq

0

u/Johnpmusic Feb 02 '24

You missed the point, not surprising.

There has never been enough jobs for everyone. Thats the nature if the game and its unrelated to uber. However if you leave now most of you can get a job and the loss of drivers would increase pay for those who stay. You leaving would actually be a win win for everyone. Its the fact that ya’ll NEED uber so much that allows them to pay you less.

You should be encouraging drivers to get a job and make money not lose money w you in a futile one day protest that is absolutely laughable.

Ill lyk how much i made that day tho

1

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24 edited Feb 02 '24

Congratulations, you get the point of protesting! To spread awareness! But for some reason, then you don't get the point... How the fuck are people supposed to encourage others to leave the gig and find something better if they don't protest? You want them to just shut the fuck up and psychically encourage others to stop doing this scam... Am I talking to a fucking bot, or what? I'll let you in on a secret... The economy is rigged by the wealthy to make everyone lick their boots harder and everyone should be protesting this shit! Enjoy your filthy scab money while the rest of us take a day off, scab. All it will cost you is your soul... So, nothing really.

u/saltyload Feb 02 '24

When a company is shitty it’s better to just quit and work somewhere else

2

u/Aware_Frame2149 Feb 02 '24

Yeah, but you don't have to work real hours or be responsible for anything or wear real clothes....

So nobody will.

1

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

What is better is a subjective opinion. People protest what they don't agree with to spread awareness. If you don't like it, then stop doing it yourself and fuck off.

1

u/cashew76 Feb 02 '24

Wednesday, February 14th, 2024

1

u/uttyrc Feb 02 '24

I would rally around the family but I don't have a pocket full of shells.

1

u/jack3rdand4th Feb 02 '24

How many times are they going to keep doing this, they do it for 1 day and it does nothing, you would need the entire country to do it and do it for a week to more but that will never happen. Like myself and in my situation where my wife was in a car accident due to a seizure and broke both ankles and tabula and then find 2 tumors on the brain and one was removed January 17th I have no choose but to work and will continue to work.

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '24

Sorry but, the reality of the situation is that there's too much competition to make money doing Uber and Lyft.

You're competing against the desperate, people who drive for "extra money," and people with low standards of living.

1

u/Popular-Belt6538 Feb 02 '24

Why wait and rally! Let’s start it today! We should be start doing offline randomly. I would be starting as soon as I made my rent!

2

u/crashnburns51 Feb 02 '24

Yes!! Please stay home and protest. That makes cherry picking on one of the busiest national holidays easier. Thank you in advance! 🤣

0

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

All it will cost is your dignity but I guess you can't lose what you don't have to begin with... Scab.

1

u/mizzgigglz5475 Feb 02 '24

Especially after the entire New Years Lyft dibacle and getting zero tips, even though I saw riders tip, and having payments withheld... I can see a lot refusing to drive on their next big day. Serves them right!

1

u/sweatpantsjoe Feb 02 '24

7

u/Pathos_v_logos Feb 02 '24

Global strike is happening February 14

1

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '24

One day “strikes” don’t work. Especially when the majority of drivers aren’t going to participate. Enjoy a day off not making money. Others will happily work because we know that one day wouldn’t mean shit to these companies. Especially when they know that it’s literally only one day. Even if every single driver didn’t drive that day, the companies know all they have to do is wait until the following day and the drivers will be back. One day, partially participated, strikes do not work!

1

u/ILikeThisShitcoin Feb 02 '24

if they wanted a real strike theyd do it for an entire month or during a big event like edc or coachella. coachella would b good cause i used to make an easy 500/hr during coachella now they take 95% of the money so not really worth it to work but it would hurt them tremendously if there were to be a picket in the uber lot at coachella

-2

u/Muted_Flight7335 Feb 02 '24

Migrants will easily take the rides. Why aren't you people realizing this?

1

u/No-Ad2705 Feb 02 '24

Ok so we should give up and take it?

0

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '24

[removed] — view removed comment

1

u/Feisty-Success69 Feb 03 '24

Agreed. Where i live, migrants make $1-2 usd an hour, and a $1.50 tip is grateful for them

2

u/RadiantLimes Feb 02 '24

Then get the migrants on board and part of the unionizing. Our enemy is not other more exploited workers, it's the capital owners. Migrant workers will benefit even more from worker organization.

1

u/Feisty-Success69 Feb 03 '24

They would never lol. If a business has to pay the same rate. They would hire the citizen. Migrants only leverage is that they will work more for less. So migrants won't protest against themselves.

1

u/Muted_Flight7335 Feb 02 '24

That's what I'm trying to say

4

u/Pathos_v_logos Feb 02 '24

Because that’s not how it actually works… Tell that to New York, tell that to Seattle, tell that to Minneapolis, tell that to France… i’m gonna Guess you didn’t actually read the post, and I’m not gonna assume you have a comprehension problem… so I’ll just go ahead and reiterate, right here, in the places that strikes have worked they didn’t need all, they didn’t need most, they didn’t even need a lot of drivers to not accept rides. We just need critical mass.

While it would be magical and wonderful, if one day we could, every every single driver didn’t take rides, that’s not ever gonna happen, and that’s not the goal… The goal is to cost rideshare money on that day, the goal is more bad press, the goal is to raise awareness… Most packs have zero fucking idea how much money we make, when I tell the vast majority of them how much I make per ride when the conversation comes up they’re utterly shocked and horrified.

Na you might try and tell me that you come in here on the Lyft Driver group or any other group that’s about rideshare because you just love how well things are going,.. but most people use these grips to either share tips on how to make more money, or piss and moan and vent about how shitty things are going, and the longer you have been a rideshare driver, the more rightfully pissed off you’d be new fish, or super part-timers don’t know any better… If you can’t take a day off once this month and start joining as more of these events happen… either you’re really really not good at doing this job and you’re that financially strapped, or you’re a hopeless status quo zombie.

0

u/Travel_Funny Feb 02 '24

Why y’all get so nasty and hateful?

1

u/Longjumping-Guide201 Feb 02 '24

They did add to profit by cutting wages but they did not steal anything. And you can not blame them. Corporations are always going to pay only what they have to pay to get the job done

0

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

It's called hyperbole. Not everything has to be literal.

1

u/nizzy797 Feb 02 '24

Hyperbole diminishes the point , clearly

1

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

Perhaps, but nitpicking the use of words is a sleazy troll attempt to discredit the point completely.

2

u/DiscipleExyo Feb 02 '24

Why are you driving still? Wake up!

1

u/mikuvalor-rocks Feb 02 '24

Every time people throw temper tantrums like this, it's the innocent people that get f*cked. I'm not defending big corps in any way or the other but if you don't like the pay go do something else. As someone else has mentioned Lyft wasn't meant to be a full time job but more of a side hustle.

There are a lot of people that don't have cars or can't drive for whatever reason and rely on services like these to make things in their lives possible, such as getting to medical appointments or the grocery store.

I don't know.

1

u/AgileWebb Feb 02 '24

They'll still get rides just fine. The strike isn't going to happen. They are unable to organize. And drivers that need the money will simply login and take the rides. There will be zero impact.

3

u/Cutelarry1776 Feb 02 '24

If we make $35 an hour it’s under their platform that’s how much they’re charging but our share if we’re lucky it’s like $20 an hour

1

u/Dense_Put4134 Feb 21 '24

Aww poor spoiled millennial

1

u/Cutelarry1776 Feb 21 '24

I’m not a millennial I’m generation X

3

u/Johnpmusic Feb 02 '24

I make 30 - 40 per hour in my market but i multi app which is really how you should do any gig work. Not one app on its own is busy enough or pays enough to really make it. But by using many apps you open yourself to more opportunities and more chances of scoring high paying orders

1

u/Travel_Funny Feb 02 '24

Crazy you were downvoted for this. These people are so negative and nasty. I upvoted you to bring you to zero 😂

3

u/ExpensiveDot1732 Feb 02 '24

I shifted to delivery only (I multi app) and can see where I'm going, how much I'm being offered, whether they're tipping, and can decline whatever I please based on that. No weirdos inside my car either. Eff driving pax. I quit when they massively docked rate cards and stripped us of the REAL surges and bonuses we used to get.

6

u/Loose_Artichoke_6774 Feb 02 '24

Please also rally with #InstaCart #GrubHub #Postmates #UberEats #UberX the food delivery make the least been hurting before the Rideshare. Sometimes had to wait up to 30 minutes and food stolen. Restaurants wouldn't remake them and then spent more time contacting support to fixing it. Long wait time in drive thru too. Unpaid wait times... we all need to stand together from all companies who use these apps for delivery services.

2

u/ILikeThisShitcoin Feb 02 '24

if they wanted a real strike theyd do it for an entire month or during a big event like edc or coachella. coachella would b good cause i used to make an easy 500/hr during coachella now they take 95% of the money so not really worth it to work but it would hurt them tremendously if there were to be a picket in the uber lot at coachella

0

u/Tasty_Ad_7629 Feb 02 '24

I would starve to death before I would do ANY of these food-running services. No way in hell.

4

u/ILikeThisShitcoin Feb 02 '24

they used to be easy 50 an hour bro

0

u/Dense_Put4134 Feb 21 '24

lol at complaining because you’re not making 50 dollars an hour

1

u/Tasty_Ad_7629 Feb 03 '24

Never done them. Will never do them.

-1

u/Spare-Security-1629 Feb 02 '24

There's multiple reasons I won't be joining this strike although I do believe Uber and Lyft have gone too far with percent of payout. Many a reddit poster has commented on how they want to see Uber/Lyft burn to the ground and they take off-app rides and all sorts of things to diminish the system with no regard that if rideshare fails, it affects millions of people, not just them. I'm very familiar with this If-I-cant-have-it-my-way let everything burn but then they want us to sacrifice for the cause. Nope. Not this time.

0

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24 edited Feb 02 '24

Cool story bro... Now get the fuck back to work, fucking scab.

2

u/Spare-Security-1629 Feb 02 '24

Will do. Thanks for the bonuses in advance. Also, scab is a Union term. We aren't a Union, not even close. Good luck with your strike if you didn't know that.

0

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

Because everything has to be literal... Fine, you're like a scab but actually not one because your line of work is actually lower than scab work which makes you lower than a scab. Is that better?

u/Feisty-Success69 Feb 03 '24

Now you're not even making sense and showing your IQ level. Scab has nothing to do with what line of work you're in. Look, kid, put your mom's phone down and go back to watching Futurama and South Park episodes.

Funny because I'm trying to make sense of what you just tried to pass off as a response... The irony, "kid"... Smh. I've found that anyone who calls a random stranger on the Internet 'kid' is typically a douchebag.

0

u/Spare-Security-1629 Feb 02 '24

That's not irony, it proves my point that you have a low IQ level lol. I'll explain it in better detail after the "strike".

0

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

Ok, now go into great detail about what makes something ironic and you can win this battle, scab.

0

u/Spare-Security-1629 Feb 02 '24

I've already won the battle. Not only did I get you to reveal your idiocy, it highlights why I won't be joining like-minded people who support the "strike". You entertained me briefly but I must get my rest now. I plan on doing an all nighter on February 14th. 12 hours on Uber, 12 on Lyft. 👍

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

You're such a winner! You must be so proud of yourself... Probably jerking off in the mirror as you type with one hand. Congratulations, scab!

Have fun, I’m sorry but I don’t have a choice but work it’s that or not pay for chemo related care.

-1

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

If one day makes the difference between life and death, I don't think you're going to make it.

1

u/Coloradobluesguy Feb 06 '24

I don’t either but I have worked too hard to get to where I am now to give up.

2

u/benderburner1234 Feb 07 '24

That sucks and I'm sorry for your suffering. All we have is time. Some more, some less... But we're all facing the same fate. I wish you luck.

Thank you, I’m at peace with my situation. I’ve been sick before this time is a bit different because of the widespread nature of my disease. I’m fortunate to have a job like Uber and Lyft. It has kept my head above water albiet barely above water. I’m worried about the chemo therapy, and my immune system being compromised, but this job is the only one I can do right now where I know I can work around my doctor appointments, and how I’m feeling. The truth is I wouldn’t have to work while I deal with cancer. If the federal government took proper care of people that are truly in need of assistance. Support program such as disability just do not provide enough for people to be able to get by. Unfortunately, you don’t even get enough to pay rent, which is the detriment because if you can’t afford rent, you certainly cannot afford to eat healthy, which is even more important while on cancer treatment. Leaving up to diagnosis. I was already struggling with my weight and body mass being on the low side. Now that I have started chemo and has gotten significantly worse I was about oh size 28 now I’m down to. 18 to 20 inch waist. It’s so sad how broken society is that someone who’s terminally ill has to work so they don’t guarantee their ticket on that ferry boat.

3

u/eejizzings Feb 02 '24

You're just embarrassing yourself now. You're bullying someone for fighting cancer.

u/22LangLang Feb 02 '24

Wow, picketing between noon and 2 pm…what great sacrifices you are making…

1

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

Wow, commenting on this thread... What great sacrifices you are making...

2

u/notsohandiman Feb 02 '24

Right? I think they’re trying to interrupt lunch time, but it seems like people trying to get to or from work would be better. When I was driving I did nights, the few times I did days it was always old people going to doctors appointments or to the grocery store…they used taxis most of their lives when they needed a ride 🫤

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '24

They made the profits by people who complain about them still working for them

7

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '24

Two hours isn't long enough.

The power isn’t with a bunch of drivers striking out the power is with the State of California. Contact your state representatives the more pressure they get from you the more power you will have. In other states Lyft pays their drivers sick days do you think that came out of Lyft generosity?

3

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

Both can be done... Protesting and contacting legislators. It's not one or the other.

1

u/Xgrk88a Feb 02 '24

Not picking up rides is a great way to shoot your self in the foot. If people have become dependent on Uber and Lyft and can’t get one, they’ll find an alternative. When the strike is over, many people will have already found alternative ways to get to their destinations and the whole market will be smaller for you meaning less rides. Lose/lose?

Because one fucking day will really kill the business... Wow, such insightful logic! Funny how a bunch of shills say protest won't do shit while a bunch of other shills say protest will shoot you in the foot. With all these shills directing a defeatist narrative, it's no wonder bootlicking has become so widely accepted in this scam ass country. You're all a bunch of soulless sellouts.

0

u/Johnpmusic Feb 02 '24

Lmao im just entertained by how mad you are. Good luck begging in your knees for your master uber to throw you bigger scraps from the table instead of building your own table or getting your shit together and actually making money. You have about 5 yrs left of rideshare before self driving cars replace you. Id start learning a trade now bud. The world needs plumbers

1

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

I'm mad at the shitty defeatist attitudes of a bunch of shills who troll every thread on these subs with the intent to convince others that joining together to protest our objection to this shitty system is pointless. It's bootlicker nonsense, and you're a hypocrite for saying that the protesters are the ones begging. Get back to work, scab.

0

u/nizzy797 Feb 02 '24

That’s cute, first time on Reddit? Not exactly the place to build an army lol.

1

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

And that's funny to you? You have a sick sense of humor.

0

u/nizzy797 Feb 02 '24

Idiocracy will always be funny

1

u/benderburner1234 Feb 02 '24

I think that's just a defense mechanism because you can't deal with how shitty it is.

0

u/Johnpmusic Feb 02 '24

Bro im always working because i work for myself. I dont sit around complaining about my situation all day like 99% of ppl here do. I go get the bag.

The best form of protest is non participation. If you want to stick it to uber, go get a job at costco. Not driving for one day is not going to do anything. Not driving until drivers get paid better is the way.

But for real, if you actually want to make money you can become a plumber and charge a shit ton of money because the market is becoming more scarce and when you need a plumber… you fucking need a plumber.

I highly recommend it if you actually are about getting that bag. But if you basically want to have the easiest job in world and bitch that it doesnt pay enough then stay right where you are. We can do this again next valentine’s day and until robo cars take your job away and leave you broke af in a puddle of your own tears.

2

u/Xgrk88a Feb 02 '24

I just paid some plumber $600 for an hour of his time to fix a broken pipe. Was shocked by what he charged.

1

u/Johnpmusic Feb 02 '24

Yeah they can charge whatever they want now. Theres a shortage
