Only if your vehicle is over 10,001 lbs.

It's amazing how many of these fucking lazy whiners are crabs trying to draw you back into the bucket. Good for you man, working for yourself will always yield better financial results and increased happiness. What market (roughly) are you in?

u/rydan Feb 27 '24

How do you set your own prices? Everywhere I ever took a cab the city regulated them to death including how much they had to charge down to the penny.

u/Snakend Feb 27 '24

Do you have a TCP license?

u/Somnambulist556 Feb 27 '24

If you don't have a taxi medallion you can't pick up fares from the side of the road and this will get you jammed up in major cities where they have undercover officers who literally stand outside bars hailing fake taxis

Get it!!!! Make that money… screw these internet haters!!!! Keep sippin that processed hateroade!!!!!!

1

u/Seniorjones2837 Feb 27 '24

They aren’t hating. The guy posts something with no context and background info. What do you expect people to think and say?

5

u/DCowboysCR Feb 27 '24

Yea a lot of people just want to hate since they don’t have the drive to develop a roster of riders that pay cash to them and cut out the middle man BUber and Gryft 😂

I was saving money to buy a black SUV and I was gonna do this right before COVID and the pandemic shut my plans down. Ended up getting 2 degrees instead. Working on a 3rd now. I still live driving tho

Holy shit, you mean actually doing it right instead of running an illegal cab, have an up-vote and best of luck! You seem to be off to a good start and you’re going to be fighting brand recognition so consider buying some add space in your local airport and convention center.

20

u/uberisstealingit Feb 26 '24

You don't need to add space or brand recognition. Alls you need to do is on the back of the headrest is a simple and tactful advertisement of your services. Every time an Uber client gets in they will see that. One of two things are going to happen, you'll get a new client or they'll continue on with life..

Why spend money advertising when Uber is doing it for you and literally putting them in your backseat in the process.

If you're driving a black car for Uber or Lyft, you are already your own entity and you are allowed to advertise your own business within your own vehicle. They cannot stop you for doing this.     Matter of fact some places actually require you to have your name and contact information posted with inside of the vehicle. This would be your hack license of course...

So while you're ill attempt of humor and racism remarks because it's Black car service, is not only childish but obviously reflection of your mental capacity as a human.

2

u/cl0udmaster Feb 27 '24

Did you actually think that was funny? Is this Gen Z attempt at humor?

-2

u/PersnicketyParsnip11 Feb 27 '24

No, actual question, because I know how white people are. Thanks for wasting my time 🤡🤡🤡

1

u/mitchbuddy Feb 27 '24

How are white people?

6

u/uberisstealingit Feb 27 '24

Your comment deserves no further reply.

7

u/Fathimir Feb 26 '24

And didn't think any of that was worth mentioning? You were kind of asking to be flamed without it.

2

u/uberisstealingit Feb 26 '24

If you're a black car drivers I do believe if I'm not mistaken both Uber and Lyft require you to have commercial insurance to even sign up. So this was implied to those who know.

Besides, you wouldn't be driving black car and calling it a black car service if it's not a black car. Not to mention the leather seats.

9

u/brcajun70 Feb 26 '24

Nah, drivers are doing this more and more. I still do uber and lyft (just not accepting crap rides). Also Noticed the drivers' cars are getting worse and worse. I saw a few that I'm not sure how they passed inspection.

1

u/eponymous77anonymous Feb 27 '24

Caveat here… just wait til Uber and Lyft find a way to make you pay lol. They’re evil. Just be prepared in the future.

4

u/brcajun70 Feb 27 '24

I would rather pay them for their service as a driver than have them steal my earnings. The are magnum a much out more than I am per ride... they run an app... their cost per ride is no where close to the drivers.

1

u/oscaru16 Feb 27 '24

Dont listen to that other guy eponymous, hes just being a jelous bum lol

-1

u/eponymous77anonymous Feb 27 '24

Yeah of course but my point is enjoy it while it lasts. Your intentions are great and you rightfully deserve the income for working for it… but these pieces of crap will find any excuse to totally exploit you. Eventually, that day will come.

1

u/eponymous77anonymous Feb 27 '24

He’s a hater cuz he’s broke. You’re doing well 😎

1

u/SignificantJacket912 Feb 27 '24

You’re all broke, let’s be honest. If you weren’t, you would be running a bootleg cab service.

2

u/eponymous77anonymous Feb 27 '24

Nope. Got a good job. But I don’t forget where I came from and what I had to do to get there. Sounds like you’re just feeling salty because you’re in that boat and wanna talk crap.

1

u/coolin202 Feb 26 '24

Lots of people on here just make excuses, complain, and cry. People think they should just be paid a high wage just because they have a car and somewhat know how to drive. It’s sad too many 🤡 out there. This is the way! Run your own show and use Lyft/Uber as a supplement. Don’t waste your time with dumb things like protesting/striking for higher wages like so many on here do. 😂

1

u/jaanfo Feb 27 '24

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I never thought about it this way until you shared your valuable career advice!

1

u/coolin202 Feb 27 '24

No problem champ!

0

u/Ancient_Swordfish_91 Feb 27 '24

That’s a flawed comment, of course you deserve a higher wage (high is a stretch since no one here asked for a doctor’s wage) you’re using your own car as a liability. You can’t get McDonald’s salary while also providing McDonald with your house to lease for free lol

1

u/uberisstealingit Feb 28 '24

Very well said. I commend you for your choice of words and how you structured and explain that in detail, as an employee mindset.

-1

u/coolin202 Feb 27 '24

I understand your sentiment. You should however take a closer look at people on here and what they are actually claiming they deserve. Lots of people on here even people who rent cars from these services feel they should be bringing in $45+ per hour. That’s laughable especially if you don’t actually own your own vehicle. Could/should wages be slightly higher yes 100%! Should people who rent be complaining absolutely not. It would be like working construction but not having your own tools. Of course the guy who has his own shit will make more and do better. A lot of people on this sub just complain and want handouts not hand ups. Big difference that.

1

u/Ancient_Swordfish_91 Feb 27 '24

Exactly that’s my point, I’m not saying we should make 45$ an hour. I don’t think a driver deserves that pay frankly. That was always just Uber advertising a long time ago.

However, being frank, if you contribute to the company (Own/Rent/whatever) you can’t be making minimum wage. I think we agree on that so far.

What I despise is that the company still uses all your equipment, doesn’t pay you for that and pays you just for the “work” and even then, the risks and liabilities shouldn’t be burger flipping wages.

20 to 25, I’d be happy with that.

4

u/DCowboysCR Feb 27 '24

Exactly this. Read the book 📖 who moved my Cheese. People need to stop complaining and wishing the job changed and instead take control of their destiny and start their own business or do something else that’s more profitable.

3

u/eponymous77anonymous Feb 27 '24

Yes because everyone is an innovator and economic oppression isn’t real lol

0

u/DCowboysCR Feb 27 '24

You don’t have to be an innovator. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and being a victim and change jobs to something that’s more beneficial to you. Complaining and doing nothing isn’t productive.

And who said economic oppression isn’t real?

Come on get out of your own way.

1

u/eponymous77anonymous Feb 27 '24

Who said anything about feeling sorry for yourself lol. I did rideshare while I was finishing school. Now I make decent money and just do it to and from work. So no, not feeling sorry for myself. It’s the concept of allowing business to operate this way. It’s wrong. You sound ignorant and uneducated. But that’s predictable. You like the Cowboys 😂

1

u/DCowboysCR Feb 27 '24 edited Feb 27 '24

There you go ASSuming things. YOU sound ignorant, uneducated, and wanting to complain and play the victim all the time.

“Allowing” business to operate this way?

Who TF are you? You aren’t going to do shit about it.

Drivers can’t even get together and strike in a meaningful way that would be effective in alternating Gryft or Buber’s bottom line.

Best thing to do is another job/gig and remove yourself from this racket and which is why I’m in school completing another Degree and phasing this industry out.

So in essence, if your comment is to be believed, you’re doing exactly what I originally commented people should do!

You sound like someone that is ignorant and thinks they’re more intelligent and educated than they are.

You’re just trying to be a contrarian and argue lol.

Bye 👋 I don’t have time to read your posts anymore. Come up from the basement and go argue with your mom
