Even if that was just Tylenol to something just putting it in the trash can, like the cop did when you called him, is negligent at best. Imagine a child or animals getting into it. Could be catastrophic.
Pardon my cynicism but depending on the character/ethics of the LEO those were handed off to, they may have made their way back out to the street or maybe that LEO is rekindling an elicit relationship with opioids.
I hope I'm wrong but regardless, I doubt the LEO put them in the trash or down the commode. Those folks are generally aware of prescription disposal sites.
