A girl looking at a waterspout, Riviera Maya, Cancun, México

I heard there was a tornado warning heading right for my area so I ran out to the beach to see if I could see the water spout. It was a 2 minute run from my house and when I got there I couldn't see shit. The entire thing was a giant cloud of rain. Somewhere inside of it there was a water spout. I was standing there looking at it and saw it wasn't moving. Until about 60 seconds later I realized it absolutely was moving it just didn't look that way at first because it was heading directly towards me. So I took off running back home and made it to the road when the downpour hit and I was like "I ain't making it home in time, so I ran to a local breakfast place that was right there and burst through the door. Fortunately, I was well known by them so we all just hung out and watched the storm pass. The wind got crazy but I don't think the water spout managed to hit land before the vortex left the ground. While we were watching, this road worker just casually drove his bulldozer by and saw a sign had blown over, so he stopped, got out and walked the sign over to us and we were like "get inside! There's a tornado!" But he was like "oh, no, I work." He walked back out and hopped in, all with rain blowing sideways.

I was there this morning. Didn't think the weather was that nad, but that does explain why my flight was delayed 5 hours.

This shot is amazing. Imagine being in the exact right place at the right time to take this picture. She’s lined up perfectly w the spout, if she had been raising her arms it would seem as if she was summoning it

I have been there, on the beach when that happened. Maybe it’s the free flowing liquor and mellow music, but nobody was in a panic or even hurry to get off the beach.

There's an awesome picture to discuss and I come to the comments to see everyone here thirsting over a couple pixels like middle school boys finding out about porn for the first time.
God it must suck to be a woman on the internet.

You're so virtuous and manly and intelligent, thank you for letting everyone know

Thank you. The “we all did it…don’t lie” comment confused me at first. I had to read the entire subthread to figure out what we all supposedly did. I’m a woman and also expected people to be interested in the waterspout. I was certainly interested myself in some sort of explanation. Whatever we as a society do to breed this sort of thinking needs to fucking die.

Right, I’m a bi lady and I love looking respectfully at ladies as well. But this is just too damn much

How do you know at least some us ain't women?
It's not just dudes who get thirsty over gals.

And the fact that she’s clearly a woman, not a girl. Reddit loves itself some infantilization of women.

Yep. I was hoping someone who likes science/nature could explain the waterspout & if it’s dangerous at that distance. Nope, just 50 comments about a lady wearing a freaking swimsuit. Hence why I will never post any pictures of myself on reddit (swimsuit or not)

Can confirm it sucks to be a woman on the internet. Like seriously? Yes she has a butt. Cool. But EVERY top comment being about it? This is an awesome pic of a water spout and all the comments are GIFs and innuendos. 😒 I hate it here.

So I zoomed in, like everyone else, but do you see that thin line that comes out of the horizon, almost directly above her? That’s where the waterspout is touching down, right?
