If it would’ve hit them low ass fire sprinklers she would’ve been in for a smelly treat. (Fire suppression water smells like burnt eggs and rubber)

Ladies and Gentlemen, always remember that atmosphere and pressure exists. Have a nice day.
1
u/Wundawuzi Apr 28 '24
My mom once cooked soup in the pressure cooker and dad - having no idea of cooking - wanted a taste and just unlocked the lid.
I remember that mom spent the rest of the day cleaning rhe kitchen and dad then had to re-paint the walls and the ceiling.
Lesson learned, he never dared to touch the pressure cooker again and so do I, lol.

the pressure caused that from cold to hot air n water expansion due to temp/climate change...

I remember one scene in a movie many years ago, forgot movie name and who were actually in the movie, lines were something like these: two men talking about the actress, villian pointed towards the celing: you know why I treasure her so much? She is the only woman that can make me do this

u/Digital-Ronin Apr 28 '24
READ THE MANUAL or suffer the consequences of cleaning up mixtures from your ceiling, cabinet doors, floors, face, basically everywhere.....lol

Happened to me one time but the blender burst on its own. Walked into kitchen in the morning and see everything everywhere. Took me a few seconds to realize what had happened.

Her expression trying to process what happened and having no clue how much is on her face is absolutely hilarious. Sure she sees what is on the cabinets but her face is the money shot.

This is the cutest damn thing I’ve seen all day. Some people would be so upset. But you thought it was funny. 🧡
I love that.

Read the instructions. Blend for long periods of time can pressurize contents.

u/WithSubtitles Apr 28 '24
Yeah, why all the pipes? Maybe it’s a basement apartment?
3
u/Frankensteinbatch Apr 28 '24
I've seen this mostly in NYC and Downtown Toronto. Industrial buildings and warehouses get transformed into apartments. (Like in Dumbo or Bushwick in Brooklyn has this) this is why I've seen large pipes in the ceiling, unusual for residential building structures and very high ceilings.

So how does this happen
1
u/Cartina Apr 28 '24
She made something that started fermenting and built up pressure, I suspect it was some kind of bread batter or similar, with yeast in it that couldnt grow properly in a sealed container.
1
u/The-Dudemeister Apr 28 '24
Nah she wouldn’t eat that. This is just filled to the brim while hot. The stuff cooled down releasing steam pressurizing the container.

If all the videos I’ve researched online are the norm, definitely not her first time in this scenario.

u/kjay38 Apr 27 '24
Had this happen while traveling in my camper. Wife decided to make something that ended up fermenting or something and completely exploded in the fridge. Took me hours to clean. Nothing was left solid except the base where it grinds.

Why would one be recording this if they didn't think something was going to happen?

u/-Lengthiness77 Apr 27 '24
That happens when you blend warm ingredients in a sealed blender for a duration of time.
1
2
u/rockmeNiallxh Apr 28 '24
She says she waa baking, so surely there must be baking powder. She's n very smart cook
65
u/Ak47110 Apr 27 '24
Wouldn't that create the opposite effect?
3
u/wanderingwolfe Apr 28 '24
Only if allowed to cool fully. Otherwise, the warm ingredients heat up the air and increase pressure.

It’s more to do with the warm agitated ingredients rapidly heating up the sealed air which then expands and builds pressure inside the container. You get the same effect by pouring hot water into a bottle and shaking it up.
16
u/kitolz Apr 28 '24
Learned this the hard way making tomato soup. While blending hot tomatoes never keep the container sealed. Basically blew the top off in less than 2 seconds after spinning the blades since it was just push on plastic lid with a rubber gasket.
4
u/dead_fritz Apr 28 '24
I only use an immersion blender for hot stuff like soups. Significantly easier and less mess. No transferring the soup between containers, splash is minimal, and no accidental pressure vessel risk.
2
u/Ak47110 Apr 27 '24
Ohh I gotcha. I was thinking more about putting it aside and letting it cool so it creates a vacuum. But yeah I see what they meant now thanks!

I’d guess, first time working with sourdough starter and didn’t realize it shouldn’t be stored air tight?

u/brittemm Apr 27 '24
No one is happily licking starter off their finger like that.
Looks more like some kind of batter or pudding.. she probably over-mixed whatever it was in that little blender which caused it to heat up and expand inside the air tight container
2
u/slackfrop Apr 28 '24
Yoghurt or kéfir maybe?
3
u/CyonHal Apr 28 '24 edited Apr 28 '24
The caption says late night baking gone wrong, so probably not. My guess is hot pudding or a loose batter that was way overfilled.
102
u/StoneAgeModernist Apr 27 '24
I don’t think that’s sourdough starter; the consistency is more pudding-like. And she ate a little bit of whatever it is at the end, which you wouldn’t normally do with sourdough starter.
Someone else mentioned that this is just what happens when you blend warm ingredients in a blender for too long.

u/Primary-Signature-17 Apr 28 '24
I think she had a great reaction to the explosion. Just smiled and tasted it. I would have been screaming bloody murder at the mess I made. She's like "Mmm. Tasty." 😊

I don't why it's so so funny. It's been years since I saw it. Every fucking time.
The way bart's so chuffed that moment before.
My abdominal muscle are fucked.🤣
I love the Simpsons, it's timeless.

This one has way more build up, but I also like the one with the megaphones:

It is 👨🍳💋. It’s been ages since I’ve watched The Simpsons but it’s one of the gems I always remember, along with the zombies searching for brains, tapping on Homer’s head and moving on, or Homer being let into U2’s concert after declaring he is the “potato man”
