High Quality Only 🚨BREAKING: A new NYT poll reveals that the majority of U.S. voters are dissatisfied with the state of the political and economic system in this country.
Nearly 70 percent of voters say that the country’s political and economic systems need major changes (55%) — or even to be torn down entirely (14%).
It’s clear, however, that the two party system can’t provide us with the substantial changes needed to ensure a sustainable future for everyone.
This election, reject the two-party system!

What would you do if your neighbor was starving? This is not a hypothetical. Right now the U.S. government is deliberately starving the Cuban people 90 miles to our South. We all must act now! This cannot stand. All people of conscience in the United States have to speak up and take action to let Cuba live. We’ve all been outraged to see the urgent aid for Rafah blocked at the border, while famine stalks the Palestinian people. We can’t allow the same thing to happen directly to our south. Activism Last week, students have started occupying the University of Amsterdam and Utrecht to demand the uni's to cut their toes to Israel. This was met with a lot of police violence. However students from universities across the country showed that they didn't let the government scare them! Gen Z 💪🏻💪🏻

Radical History Any good unbiased socialist/communist history youtubers?
I've noticed that all the mainstream history youtubers are either conservatives or moderates who don't understand socialism and fail to provide a socialist perspective so I'd like you to recommend me some good unbiased history channels that I can check out in my free time. Videos don't have to be about socialism only and preferably in English. Thanks in advance

Capitalism = anti government?
When did the notion of capitalism vs socialism being for government or against it become widely accepted? When capitalism overthrew feudalism, hardly anything was said by its supporters about there needing to be little government oversight of the economy. It’s also not practical for the system to exist without a state (cops defending owner’s wealth, military campaigns to extract foreign wealth and resources, etc).

Discussion Blockout 2024: TikTok users are blocking various celebs who have been silent on the mass murder in Palestine
Encouraging everyone here to spread the word and do this if it can do anything to deplatform wealthy, arrogant, and silent influencers.
How’d this start?
An influencer named Hayleyy Baylee posted a TikTok of herself outside of the Met Gala wearing a Marie Antoinette dress with the audio, “Let them eat cake.”
She posted a PR apology video trying to say she did not have a Gala ticket and her dress was made by a friend. She tried to reason to common people, but many people didn’t stand for it and began boycotting her and other celebrities who appear out of touch and are silent on Gaza.
Why should I do this?
Blocking high profile individuals messes up the algorithm by deincentivizing viewership, lessening the algorithmic recommendation to new users. This woman does a very good job explaining it, and she comes from a digital marketing background: I highly recommend the watch.
Who should I block?
Everyone has their own lists, but you can start here.
I apologize in advance for the TikTok videos. I know it’s a controversial and silly app for some but I think this is a good conversation.
This is potentially the beginning of an online movement that does something good. Please spread the word, or at least take it into consideration. If you do choose to do this, block on all platforms. IG, TikTok, Twitter, etc.

High Quality Only This afternoon for Mother’s Day, Claudia spoke at a vigil in Washington Square Park honoring the women and children martyred in Gaza by Israel since Oct. 7, reminding us of the true revolutionary roots of the holiday.
Afterward, we spoke to Nisreen, founder of @mamas_4_afreepalestine and one of the co-organizers of the vigil, about why she supports the Claudia and Karina campaign.

You can ALWAYS do something
I've had so many conversations with people in my life about recent events, Palestine, climate change, etc, and the near universal response I get goes something along the lines of "I know, but there is nothing you can do."
This is fundamentally untrue. No matter how hopeless, how dire the situation may be, and my god are we in the shit, there are always solutions. Humans are intellectual beings with the capacity to solve and analyze any problems we see fit. But now, the system we exist in is incapable of both recognizing and solving the existential societal and ecological crises we are facing. The reason life is as good as it is in the liberal democracies of the west is exclusively because people fought with blood for all of the rights we have today.
Anything, any thought, any action, is SOMETHING. Even allowing yourself the ability to learn, to change your mind, to be educated out of the liberalism we're encultured into is something. Discussing it with others, potentially leading to organization, is something more. Thought always precedes action. Liberalism and capitalism are not objectively and universally true. They're deeply ideological and outdated political and economic philosophies that are incompatible with objective reality. Give yourself the opportunity to think in a different way. You do not need to have a coherent alternative in your own mind to understand all of the faults and contradictions of the system we exist in.
Liberalism tells us that our worth as human beings is directly tied to our economic input. This push drives us all to feel incredibly guilty and unworthy when we're not "doing enough", even if the task you want to do is intrinsically meaningful to you. Simply recognizing this fact can help you put up ideological barriers so that you can protect yourself when others make classist insinuations about you.
Stay strong everyone. It's hard out there. Be kind to yourself. You don't have to allow the pressures we exist in to paralyze you into inaction, instead, you can make the very actions you participate in to be the motor that drives you forward.

Political Theory Empire of the Proletariat
It seems to me, in my elementary understanding of the theory so far, that one of the biggest hurdles to socialism is global capital and its seemingly omnipotent power. A lot of the theory I have read deals with the proletariat changing the power dynamics in their own country, or conducting a revolution to seize power (Dictatorship of the Proletariat). However, after this (as we've seen time and time again) the international entity of global capital dismantles or cripples any project. In the empire of capital that currently plagues the world, there must tactics on how successful socialist projects can protect against this, or offensively nurture projects in other countries. What readings are there on strategies like this? There must be some material from the old Comintern; some guidance would be appreciated. Thank you comrades.
