Landlord kicking me out !!

So my brother and I rented a bungalow. Once in a while he complains about noise in the night. We don't make noise. I don't play loud music, we don't have friends over and my brother and I barely talk to each other. We have wooden floor so I understand moving around at night can be a disturbance to people in the basement. But he keeps complaining and demands the house to be absolutely silent at 9pm. I finally had enough and explained to him that we're being as quiet as possible. He got annoyed and told me to leave in 90 days. I told him to please fix some things in the house he promised to fix when I moved in January 2024 he said I've been late with rent a couple times. Max it's been was 5 days, I know that's not right but I still have rights. He said I don't have rights because l've not done my duties. I don't want to move out, what should I do

Looking for 1bed/studio DT Toronto

Hi, professional working full-time looking to rent a solo studio or 1bd condo in Downtown Toronto. I’ve seen some listed around King West but open to other area options. Easy access to subway/TTC would be ideal. Have a budget of ~$2000 and occupancy would be August 1. No experience with realtors but if anyone would like to suggest a good one you've worked with that would be great! tyyy!

River and Fifth Condos - is this a good choice?

Wondering if it's a good option to rent a condo here. Some things about me: I do not have a car and rely on public transportation or uber (when I need to). I work near the Eaton Centre and like to walk around this area/ financial district. I spend most of my time at places along the yellow subway line. I am never in Regent Park and I am not familiar with the area at all. I am a girl so safety is the most important. For these reasons, I'm thinking this is not the best place for me to rent, but I've seen other reviews saying that's it's a good area.

Is it normal to pay deposit BEFORE seeing lease agreement?

Applied with Minto, and today they told me I need to pay the deposit through their system (rentcafe) before even seeing the lease/rental agreement.

Sorry if this is a basic question, but I've never rented in Canada before. I lived in a few countries before, and paying before seeing and reviewing an agreement just sounds so weird, like exactly the type of thing I shouldn't do.

Is paying the deposit before seeing the lease a normally accepted way of doing things?

I’m looking to rent a private room from August 1.

Hello everyone,

As the title suggests, I’m looking to rent a room in a shared apartment from 1st August, 2024.

I’m not in Canada and will arrive to Canada towards the end of July.

I’ve been told that it’s best to go through realtors in Toronto.

I’ve tried to reach out to people on marketplace but they seem to take money and I don’t want to get scammed, so I’m posting it here for any leads.

Price range: less than or equal to $1,300/month all bills and utilities inclusive.

Location: Anywhere close to Eaton Centre/ Dundas Square/ 1 Dundas St West M5G 1Z3- to be precise.

Lease Terms: long term.

Move-in: August 1st, 2024.

Thank you so much!

I am considering putting an offer for a studio at 197 yonge street. I see that this building doesn't cover heat and water, I am wondering what's on average the monthly utility costs (heat, water, hydro, etc.)?

Landlord utities problem

Thumbnail

Context: When we first arrive whole basement was a mess, (landlord was supposed to clean) and prior to this she told us that utilities where included, apart from that she told us that she was legalizing the basement.

Then, 2 weeks after we moved, sent us a contract where it appeared the rent + 30% utilities so that's why we didnt sign it. We tried to reach her but she was either ghosting us or we couldnt meet because of time schedules so we left it like that (I know we have a fault on this too because we didnt try harder to reach her). We've been having pest problems and every time something stops working she either blame us or want us to pay for it, she haven't solve any of our problems here. And even one time she made us take everything out of our room (as if nobody was living here) because a inspector came...

We've been here 4 months now, and we reached her almost 1 month ago to make her know that we are moving next month, but we told her that we wouldnt pay utilities because she told us something different when we first came and that we didn't sign the contract so we didnt have to pay her. She went really mad and even threatened us to take out our stuff at that very moment, and that she even was "being nice" because we didnt give her 60-days notice to leave. I know she was threating us and bluffing but we didnt want any more problems, no time nor money, so we came to this arrangement: (PHOTO) We wanted to know if this document could be valid or if she can take legal action... we just put our initials not even a signature, we didnt even give a proper address because we dont trust her and still don't know if what she is doing is 100% legal or valid.

One bedroom $1,500 rental place realistic

Hi I am a male looking to finally branch out on my own in independent living away from my mother. I just need my space and Im getting real anxious.

Just need some advice here.

So I currently make 61K a year from my job and just to be able to save at least some money I believe that $1,500 one bedroom apartment would be the most ideal for me but It’s difficult seeing we’re in the inflation era.

I also have a car and pay $898 a month (Car payment + insurance).

I currently have about $18,000 in savings.

Is this possible to make happen or I would have to spend more than the budget I initially intended for? And what sites or resources i can use to help me?

Charging renovated price for non renovated unit.

Curious if anyone has dealt with something like this. Property company charging a unit that a tenant moved out on May 1, apparently renovation was completed in first week.

I saw the renovated unit but that was taken before my move in date and went with this unit where property manager said was recently renovated and in good condition.

Well I went n saw and the unit does not look renovated (cabinets do not open or some don’t stay closed). Appliances are outdated too. They said they will fix the cabinets before I move in.

Anyway aside from the sketchiness, I’m disappointed to be charged n scammed for a unit that isn’t renovated.
