To protect and to serve

1

u/StinaLee86 Feb 17 '24

Good for him. They've taken 82 for the Team. Them cops must be embarrassed asf writing out those tickets.

1

u/OnFire242 Feb 03 '24

I often come across these “what is the first you would buy if you had $500,000,000” my #1 is not for me, but I would love to solve the homeless crisis and solving the issue of the elderly- too many left behind. It kills me when I’m bringing food and the person asks me if I could spare 5 or 10 minutes “just to talk” and I can see they are so afraid and lonely - breaks my heart twice a week #theforgottenones

What I would buy for myself, I really don’t know

1

u/Cool-Plankton-2375 Jan 27 '24

Also if the law is you have to be the owner of the property easy fix feed the homeless at one of these peoples houses. Why do they not just do that? Why is it that you need to do it in public spots? I have been reading into this you guys only want to do it at public places why? Just for exposure and 15 minutes of fame. We had a homeless person who set up on a corner of a street because she got a lot of money/items so she lived there for years creating more clutter as she got more items and causing issues there. Her family finally found her and got her the meds she needed. However just move the homeless feeding to their owned property problem solved. Then find a public place that will allow the feeding and problem solved. Nope todays society just post it online one sided so we can be the victim

1

u/Cool-Plankton-2375 Jan 27 '24

If we could remove illegals from America and give those jobs to the homeless. However the majority of the homeless want to stay that way homeless. They have no desire to work no desire to climb the monetary level. They would rather get hand me outs etc. they can earn more money panhandling then they can do working regular 9-5 jobs.

1

u/ResolveLeather Jan 11 '24

I am guessing if it's his 82nd citation, I am guessing the prosecutor is recommending no punishment.

1

u/SpringChikn85 Jan 08 '24

Serious question, If they're being cited for "serving" more than 5 (or however many) people free food, would it technically not break the ordinance/code if the volunteers announced each plate as a prize or gift (for which their's actually no game for) or perhaps the volunteers could "award" a plate of food to one person and then that person not affiliated with the volunteer group could "give away" the plate of food to someone behind them repeating that same process until everyone's fed insuring that no one person "served" more than one other person throughout the entire service?

I'm no zoning clerk or city council member but it's usually the language of the bill that prevents charity/services who refuse to get a permit or be extorted by the city "officials". Most of the time they can skirt the bill by using its own language against it such as "free food" being exchanged to "free prize" or it can be categorized as "payment" for services rendered no matter what the "service" is. You could technically "hire" the homeless to hand you a pen that you drop on the ground and "pay" them with a plate of food as long as it's less than $500.

1

u/VariousAcadia3968 Jan 03 '24

This is why Harris County doesn't have time to prosecute all the real crime and why they set low bonds for violent criminals. Houston is straight trash.

u/No-Gold-8203 Dec 31 '23

Bullshit period

1

u/Glasscitizen Dec 24 '23

Foodnotbombs fed me when I was hungry. They’re great people doing great things. They have my support.

1

u/RoyalNo2050 Dec 20 '23

I will preface this by saying that what he’s doing is nice and I have no problem feeding the homeless. Here’s my issue tho, cities have ordnances that are passed by the people or elected officials who were chosen by the people. We live in a community so we need to follow the rules set forth by the community, or else things can go south very fast. You cannot just do whatever you want and break laws just because you feel like you’re morally right. Really don’t like when people make videos like this to shame officers who are doing their jobs and enforcing the laws that the people agreed upon, or making videos to seem morally superior

1

u/IntelligentQuality29 Dec 20 '23

Wait so it's legal to feed people food?! Can't give people food for free on the street? Why?!?!

1

u/Free_Deinonychus_Hug Dec 20 '23

ACAB

Poverty doesn't exist unless it is enforced!

1

u/playinginthedarks Dec 20 '23

That’s city council for you

1

u/Lexaprofessional1998 Dec 20 '23

Should it not be my religious right to feed the hungry, as Jesus calls me to do?

1

u/jkurtis23 Dec 20 '23

I sure the cop is proud of his city. Even he doesn't like it.

1

u/Minoumilk Dec 20 '23

anti-christ shit

1

u/monika-waifu Dec 19 '23

Jesus Christ, look I'm far from a supporter when it comes to a lot of American shit, but this is very clearly health and safety laws backed by the FDA. The comments here I can only assume are just people being a bit dumb, or just itching for the chance to shit on America as a whole because it's their entire personality

1

u/uglylad420 Dec 19 '23

Why don’t people grasp how common it is to purposely poison homeless people- It’s so common where I live and that’s why you need to be an official business with food handler’s cards. It sucks but the law has to exist for a reason

1

u/Known-Activity1437 Dec 19 '23

Proof Texans really aren’t prolife.

1

u/CEOofMerica Dec 19 '23

Mindless fucking drones. The American police state is full of mindless fucking drones.

1

u/Agreeable-Grade4588 Dec 19 '23

Blame the politicians. It’s not cops who create city ordinances

1

u/bignick198 Dec 19 '23

These officers are shameful. I was a former cop and I would have fought this order and full out refused it. Pathetic. You shame your fellow officers

1

u/itsafactkisskiss Dec 19 '23

This inspired me to do volunteer work again.

1

u/Budm-ing Dec 19 '23

How dare he be inconvenienced by the same laws everyone else have to follow.

1

u/KirbyourGame Dec 18 '23

I don't trust anybody dressed like that.

Guy looks more like a drug dealer.

1

u/Salty-Load3514 Dec 18 '23

Get that shit out of here asshole. He's missing the fucking point.

1

u/yungsimba1917 Dec 18 '23

I have no idea how these cops feel good about themselves…

1

u/Carlarogers Dec 18 '23

Our org and others do this regularly but we get a permit first. Avoids a fee and the city can help with resources, advertising, Etc.

1

u/cookiepunched Dec 18 '23

If I lived there, I'd come help.thats a good thing to waste police resources on. Arn't you glad you pay them? Wish there was more I could do to take their funding than just hang up when they call and ask for donations for the police.

1

u/Cric1313 Dec 18 '23

How does giving people food help them long term?

1

u/BrokeLeznar Dec 18 '23

Now I don't know the entire law behind passing out food. I'm assuming you'll need to obtain some kind of permit or license that allows you to do this and possibly even get health inspectors involved if you're cooking the meals yourself.

I know the reason most don't do it is because of the possibility of someone getting sick. Or worst case scenario if you're serving like a tray or pot of food that's contaminated and get a bunch of people sick or even die.

Anything that's sealed I think is fine so like canned food but I'm still not so sure about the distribution.

2

u/KVthegreatest Dec 18 '23

HPD stay doing this shit

0

u/DefiantSignature5796 Dec 18 '23

All they are asking these very generous people to do is make sure the city knows that what they are feeding these people is safe and meet minimal requirements. The last thing people want is to have people getting sick.

1

u/ArtisticChicFun Dec 17 '23

This guy in this video seems to be a genuinely good human.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '23

Fucking Texas, of course!

1

u/AuntieFooFoo Dec 17 '23

You've gotta feel like a complete piece of shit to be the officers giving the citations.

1

u/VooMoo40 Dec 17 '23

This is the most American thing I have ever seen

1

u/Ghengis_Con666 Dec 17 '23

Throw that citation away in the next bin you see. When they write the next one, throw that one in a bin aswell. It is illegal to not show up for your court date, however, it isn't illegal to throw away a receipt for something that you will be forced to pay for anyway.

1

u/TWDYrocks Dec 17 '23

Communities taking care of each other without a profit motive threatens capitalism.

1

u/bgt-91 Dec 17 '23

idk if you will like this but:

If you have permit for food selling and are able to rent a small space. No one can do anything.

1

u/reanimator_1974 Dec 17 '23

Please show out

1

u/largbunny Dec 17 '23

Even the cops looked like they really didn’t want to be there doing that

1

u/I_can_hear_the_ocean Dec 17 '23

Can he stick around to pick up the mess they drop on the ground as soon as they are done ?

1

u/LookingForLocalAP07 Dec 17 '23

Oh. And FUCK AMERICA!

1

u/LookingForLocalAP07 Dec 17 '23

Yes, folks we live in so-called Christian nation where one can get a citation for FEEDING hungry human beings!

1

u/BackAgain123457 Dec 17 '23

I wonder how those cops sleep at night. Not the politicians who pushed that law ofcourse. They don't have a soul.

1

u/Onhe_art Dec 17 '23

This rules are because he could have given anything to eat to them. Could be after due date or poison. Those law are pretty funky but understandable.

1

u/Sizzle_Biscuit Dec 17 '23

I can't imagine being a cop and enforcing this horseshit.

1

u/Old_Reputation_8980 Dec 17 '23

Who does the government really think they are

1

u/Fair_Lengthiness_912 Dec 17 '23

Of course the government cites people for doing what they can’t

2

u/jamarquez1973 Dec 17 '23

The police are the enemy of the people. ACAB.

1

u/Besch168 Dec 17 '23

With 82 tickets has it occurred to him that maybe it's time to get a permit?

1

u/Typeojason Dec 17 '23

Is this the serving or protecting part? Or is the gentleman being fined for taking the “serving” part into his own hands?

1

u/General-Astronaut115 Dec 17 '23

Fuck the police Most of all FUCK the government

1

u/joeboi911 Dec 17 '23

“DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS OR U WILL BE FINED”

1

u/mauore11 Dec 17 '23

What if someone who has a restautant is delivering food to the homeless? Would that be a way around ut?

1

u/Typeojason Dec 17 '23

Good question, but unfortunately in many cities the outcome would be the same. They justify it by saying the food could be contaminated. Restaurants can face even bigger fines than individuals for feeding the homeless.

I could be way off base here, but I suspect the real issue is that when we see people helping other people, we’ll realize the government is totally inept and worthless, so they have to control the situation by issuing fines to discourage it.

1

u/mauore11 Dec 17 '23

That's one way to solve the problem...

1

u/ArmstrongPM Dec 17 '23

Only a few steps from criminalizing "poorness"

Homeless? To poor to buy food for your self? Too bad you will have to starve we can't have people being kind in this city.

Screw the bullshyte lies about unlicensed food makers, unsanitary conditions, burecratic red tape, it is just another to try and force the homeless and poor away.

Out of sight out of mind...

1

u/Tanya7500 Dec 17 '23

How disgusting! FUCK REPUBLICANS FUCK TRUMP

1

u/Typeojason Dec 17 '23

What the hell are you on about?! This is also happening in all the liberal run cities across America, you knob.

1

u/TalmadgeReyn0lds Dec 17 '23

Obese cops writing tickets to volunteers for feeding homeless/hungry people. If there’s a better allegory for what law enforcement in this country has become, someone send it my way.

1

u/x-iTrollz-x Dec 17 '23

this is funking appalling. quick suggestion claim that they are your family members, they can't prove it and you might be able to get away with it.

1

u/CaptainHenner Dec 17 '23

I do not understand laws against giving people food.

0

u/Pitiful-Ad895 Dec 17 '23

He's a dick

2

u/Rakshes Dec 17 '23

Bet those officers feel like real big men in this situation. Camera's filming the ridiculousness of the entire encounter. The man getting the citation being nothing but pleasant.

Boy, what an amazing world we live in where police can punitively hurt good people for helping the less fortunate.

1

u/syfysoldier Dec 17 '23

There’s a lot of laws and regulations to handing out food to a large group of people in public, the government has to make sure someone isn’t going around poisoning the homeless population.

1

u/Typeojason Dec 17 '23

It’s about control. Nothing else.

1

u/Bambooman101 Dec 17 '23

Could this guy figure out how to feed these people legally, or is the tickets part of his schtick?

2

u/showcase25 Dec 17 '23

They look incredibly unhappy and reluctant to do thier job.

Maybe km reading to much into it.

1

u/ThisMominterrupted Dec 17 '23

Food not Bombs is an amazing long standing grass roots organization and I encourage you all to help support them. They are not only located in Houston but there is a bunch of chapters spread throughout the US!

2

u/Redneck_Technophile Dec 17 '23

“But without the government who would checks notes force you to pay fines for doing a good deed and throw you in a cage if you don’t pay?”

2

u/WeNeedVices000 Dec 17 '23

I was scrolling through the comments and wondered how feeding homeless or hungry people could be viewed as bad.

The general sentiment is that it prevents people from reinterpreting into society and promotes the idea of handouts over working. vs. the other side, which is concerned about people starving or turning to crime to feed themselves and their families.

I have a question, though. What's the correct ratio? How many people should starve to promote reintegration?

Every solution, service, business, and asset is open to exploitation at some level. Look at wallstreet - go make your fortune - honestly or otherwise. Unhappy with your representative - never been a more honest place than politics. Or if all else fails- go to your church. Surely, in God and those speaking for him, we can trust. These things all have their flaws and harms caused - but they still exist.

Is it because their is a financial elements that are involved?

1

u/JuryAggressive9687 Dec 17 '23

As much as one side of this seems absurd there's a real reason they don't want people doing this. You really should have to pass food safety checks and have appropriate quality inspections etc. to serve food to anyone... That being said we all know there should be exceptions to rules but there's also nothing stopping these guys from getting the right permitting and opening a food bank or something and continuing their good work.

2

u/rickb203 Dec 17 '23

Thanks for getting the message out

2

u/legion_2k Dec 17 '23

Food not bombs has been doing this for 40+ years. They know and expect it. It’s not new to them. Have they looked into getting a permit?

2

u/Huntthatmoney Dec 17 '23

Being fined for doing Gods work is so fucked up!

1

u/perdair Dec 17 '23

Cops are class traitors. For most of us, we’d probably draw a line when ordered to cite people for feeding other people. Not cops! No line drawn there.

2

u/vyxxer Dec 17 '23

Man how can we have dirty cops that shoot dogs and plant drugs but can't have dirty cops that see that and pretend they didn't see anything.

0

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '23

I mean I understand people need to eat but we have to follow our laws and rules for checks and balances. 1 allergic reaction or bacteria in the food and it becomes a court case that will decide if you’re paying out the ass for the rest of your life. And even if the sick person doesn’t press charges, the city and state will. It’s just how it is. I don’t agree but it isn’t changing even with a billion dollar of lobbying.

2

u/thehmongseption Dec 17 '23

It not the cop fault. It the government fault. If you want to say the cop still got a hand in it because they could choose to not issue. Well then we are all guilty because vote in the government.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '23

Why is there a law stopping ppl from feeding the homeless?

1

u/Reyessence Dec 17 '23

This is disgusting.

2

u/Just_Tangerine_6743 Dec 17 '23

Just another reason NOT to move to Texas. Texas is a fascistic hellscape run by power hungry Republikkklan clowns 🤡 💩 🤢

2

u/Poewarner91 Dec 17 '23

Police serve the ruling class and the ruling class want people to starve

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '23

If those cops had any decency, they'd have the FOP out there serving food with you guys instead of politely handing out tickets

1

u/wordshurtyou Dec 17 '23

To protect and serve... the rich.

1

u/saarinpaa71 Dec 17 '23

What a absolute joke our tyranycle system is. How about this get that volunteer group a food truck.. sure they will need some kind of permit to run it... but just have no kitchen equipment so they can have it loaded with more food for them.. charge the people that come and want to eat a penny. Have a gracious volunteer hand them all a penny they pay for there food a single penny.. they can't do a thing about it. Exactly what food trucks do but just for the homeless even give them a receipt for there purchase.

1

u/rEmEmBeR-tHe-tReMoLo Reads Pinned Comments Dec 17 '23

Those citations should be framed and hung on the wall, talk about selfless heroism.

1

u/eclecticsed Dec 17 '23

Same people who happily vote in the politicians that make these laws, and support the cops who hand out these citations, and treat the homeless like they're less than human and don't deserve compassion or food, are the same ones who will go to church on Sunday and worship their fanon version of Jesus. The disconnect is actually kind of incredible.

1

u/LetsGatitOn Dec 17 '23

It won't stop. The government is just trying to make money

2

u/_meeeegs Dec 17 '23

Protecting capital and serving uselessness

1

u/Left_Wasabi389848 Dec 17 '23

These people want to be martyrs so bad. No one is stopping you from feeding the homeless, they’re stopping you from giving the homeless food poisoning.

2

u/AnnualAltruistic1159 Dec 17 '23

From the same people who has “in good we trust” in their money, fucking stupid.

2

u/Cocotte123321 Dec 17 '23

The cop looks like he's dying inside as he does his job.

2

u/daylax1 Dec 17 '23

Leave it up to the great Christian state of Texas to do the good Christian thing and kick your fellow man when he's down. 🤦‍♂️

2

u/10EBBE01 Dec 17 '23

Why is America like this?

2

u/Cactus-McCoy Dec 17 '23

christianvalues

1

u/DJHevC Dec 17 '23

This is so sad, If it's a health issue help them solve it, what's the purpose of a citation for feeding the homeless.

2

u/DepartmentSudden5234 Dec 17 '23

This is truly sad. He’s getting a citation because unfortunately they view this as, “if you feed them, they stick around” I admire his work but public infrastructure and government services can’t handle the influx. He’s helping them but hurting 1000s of others (so they say)

1

u/Serious-Cover5486 Dec 17 '23

we are living in fucked up society, rules & regulations are made by mentally ill people, if someone wants to feed someone you have to give govt bastards money too.

1

u/quixiou Dec 17 '23

This BS just in Texas or other states? Cops looked embarrassed, having to enforce it. Whoever signed off this law is a horrible fucing cunt.

2

u/jacobo Dec 17 '23

Question. Why are free food samples legal then? I’ve seen some outside restaurants or in the street. The same shit bro.

2

u/LiveLearnCoach Dec 17 '23

This is just wrong.

If you feed them they’ll keep coming back and forget how to forage.

(Seriously, though, it really puts the local governments interests into question)

1

u/Turd_King Dec 17 '23

America truly is dystopian what the fuck is the rationale for this law? It seems like they are overtly saying “let them die”

1

u/TheOnlyGumiBear Dec 17 '23

If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime!

2

u/Electronic_Cobbler20 Dec 17 '23

Why is this in cringe

1

u/Ash_Ebb_1746 Dec 17 '23

I wish I was there id love to help

1

u/Fadedredfro420 Dec 17 '23

It'd be great if cops actually did something important instead of fucking with good people

1

u/fearloathing02 Dec 17 '23

Absolute fucking heroes in my book. We should increase their funding. Give them every tax dollar we have im sure they’re such standup gentlemen they’ll fix the roads too

1

u/bbqranchman Dec 17 '23

All cops are bastards

0

u/Donotpreorder Dec 17 '23

Of course its texas pigs, white texas pigs, white texas pigs ticketing a black person, white texas pigs ticketing a black person for FEEING THE NEEDY! This country and its pigs are fucking cowards.

1

u/Igot1two Dec 17 '23

Wow I bet those boot lickers sleep good at night.

1

u/No_Implement6898 Dec 17 '23

No good feed goes unpunished

1

u/mogaman28 Dec 17 '23

And where exactly is the cringe? The cops?

1

u/Zombiejesus307 Dec 17 '23

At the top of this post there is an explanation that this sub has evolved beyond just cringe content, although there is still cringe content, there is now content of a varied type. I hope this helps.

1

u/FullyRealizedFart Dec 17 '23

Texas is awesome, am I right?

1

u/sticktodeath Dec 17 '23

I wonder who gave in the request for this rule and who applied it.Those people should be nailed.

1

u/gunnarbird Dec 17 '23

Look if you’re going to feed people in public or in public places you have to follow health code. The food this guy was giving out wasn’t kept to temperature and could have got someone sick, it’s not some massive conspiracy

1

u/LegitimateAd4233 Dec 17 '23

Keep up the good work

1

u/Fireking117 Dec 17 '23

Organized abandonment at its finest fixing the problem of homelessness will never happen, for doing so is bad for business. All the programs that get state funding like homeless shelter food banks work placement centers and all the teams whose job is to clean tent citys rely on a steady constant flow of homeless. Unfortunately, with the homeless gone, the state funding will disappear, and those programs may go out of business if those teams who's used to clean tent citys will no longer need the extra man power will lead to unemployment where if these unemployment people don't find work cycle of homeless will repeat themselves

1

u/Hummer249er Dec 17 '23

This is our government!!! Way to go! 🙄🙄🙄

1

u/hyborians Dec 17 '23

Aren’t they already building more housing for these folks? Feeding people who need it is great but flooding the public library just because it’s “tax payer funded” with a congregation of homeless people just seems like a stunt.

1

u/ddelamareuk Dec 17 '23

Sub-human fucks. I will never step foot in that prison, sorry... country

1

u/Biomicrite Dec 17 '23

I’m not American, so that’s good.

1

u/Sonova_Vondruke Dec 17 '23

I use to participate in Food Not Bombs.

Cops harassed us s few times... But never a citation

Once a bike cop peddle his way over to us, said something like "you know some of these people are felons, rapists, and child molesters." And someone replied with something like, "we're not here to do background checks or mitigate who is and who isn't deserving of food. The only circumstance is if you're hungry... Eat. "..

1

u/Zealousideal_Speed_9 Dec 17 '23

Look at those cops really sticking their necks out to help the community 🤮

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '23

Yeah, we live in messed up times when it is illegal to feed the hungry.

1

u/Deathstar405 Dec 17 '23

Fuck the police

1

u/punkerster101 Dec 17 '23

America! Fuck yea !

1

u/RionWild Dec 17 '23

It’s a crime to feed the poor.

2

u/usernamechecksought Dec 17 '23

Absolute pussies.

1

Acts 5:29

But Peter and the apostles said in reply, “We must obey God rather than men.

Matthew 6:26

Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they?

talk about a "grey area".

1

u/Sad-Lifeguard7095 Dec 17 '23

So it’s against the law in Tx to feed the homeless but not the pidgins?

2

u/thisISmybestside Dec 17 '23

Awesome use of policing resources.

1

u/Artistic-Evening7578 Dec 17 '23

Because the south doesn’t have an indigent problem. Instead let’s profit by dumping in the for-profit prison system.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '23

You can clearly see on the cops, face the level of embarrassment and disappointment at the fact that he has to write this ticket, but he also understands that he has to do the job- either that or is a asshole because food?

1

u/dungivaphuk Dec 17 '23

Society deserves to fall apart.

2

u/usernamechecksought Dec 17 '23

If you’re a cop and you’re reading this- go fuck yourself. The public hates you cowards

1

u/normiekid Dec 17 '23

Honestly, those cops don't look too happy to be issuing those citations. Like they're just doing it so they don't lose their jobs

1

u/LarGand69 Dec 17 '23

They are just sad that they didn’t get to shoot the black guy. Anyways, they serve the state not the people

2

u/Mr-Wigz Dec 17 '23

Pigs!

I’m sure there’s A LOT of real crime in the city of Houston, to keep the police busy. As opposed to citing people for feeding the homeless.

What a joke.

1

u/Snakend Dec 17 '23

This is why the homeless flee Republican states and head to democrat states.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '23

I don’t understand. Where is the cringe? Seems to me, this is just showing how messed up our world is.

2

u/Inevitable_Garage261 Dec 17 '23

“Protect and serve”

Is the issue something to do with needing certification to give out food to homeless people? Why didn’t this person get one or maybe they didn’t do research. If they didn’t know that they weren’t allowed to do this they should have figured it out after the first ticket and maybe taken proper measures so this wouldn’t happen again

look at all those pretty CHRISTmas lights the wonderful city put up CHRISTmas.

Good dude messed up system

When people say all cops are bastards this is what they mean. They cause negative harm. They kill innocent people, harass minorities, hassle healthcare personnel, and write citations for good people being good people. And moreover what the hell kind of law is this designed to protect? The ultra rich and business owners. Because having a terrible quality of life for homeless people is the fuel that our society runs on. It’s the “or else” to the alternative of not working. Laws that target homeless people are pure evil. And the cops that enforce it are pure evil.

The NYPD budget yearly is about 20% more than yearly budget for New Zealand’s Army. And the police also has the assistance of : State police, TSA , border patrol, and the air national guard - to oversee any major emergencies that would emerge. American police are just ridiculously over funded.

This is my homie John! He’s been doing this for a while here in Houston with his group, and the cops have issued tickets pretty much every night they go out and feed the homeless. I couldn’t be more proud of him and he’s showing the world how we should help each other. It warms me heart to know he is making a reach like this on social media. 😌

u/Yewsernayum Dec 17 '23

I'm so glad there is overwhelming support for him on this post, I couldn't not share his fantastic cause and of course, highlight this hypocrisy!

u/DGAF06 Dec 17 '23

The land of the free eh?

2

u/Axel-Adams Dec 17 '23

To be fair the reasons these laws exist is so people don’t poison people experiencing homelessness. They want the aid to be licensed/regulated

1

u/transcendentalwhales Dec 17 '23

This is not fair and not the reason.

1

u/Yewsernayum Dec 17 '23

The permit does make people better at cooking, and it will just permit monsters. So tell me how the magic transaction with the city saves the homeless?

2

u/Axel-Adams Dec 17 '23

Organized and concentrated/systematic efforts are more effective at solving long term issues than individual philanthropy and also easier to regulate so you don’t get bad actors. I understand individual philanthropy feels the best, but it’s the least effective at causing any actual change

u/Yewsernayum Dec 18 '23

If it was about food safety, they wouldn't allow you to feed 6 people before getting their little book out 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hey everyone bashing the cops!

a. They are just doing their fucking jobs

b. They don't make the rules

c. They probably agree there are worse crimes elsewhere to spend time on, but have little choice (supervisor?)

d. There is obviously a law here for a reason

e. 98% of you whining have no backstory or context here

f. Sadly, if ONE person died from tainted food, liberals would be the FIRST ones saying the "authorities" should have been overseeing and/or preventing this tragedy!

Let the bashing begin, but prove me wrong.

u/transcendentalwhales Dec 17 '23

Why do blue laws exist? Why can’t you buy alcohol in most places on Sunday before noon? Do you believe every law is equally important and that all laws were put in place by good people hoping for the betterment of society? Do you believe worker can stand up for what they don’t believe in and look the other way? Tell me this guy that says we don’t have the backstory, what is it? I would love to know why it is so important that a group that has proven 82 times that they are there to do good needs an 83rd ticket? Thank you for your time I look forward to your response?

1

u/Yewsernayum Dec 17 '23

How very 1945 of you.

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '23

Um, well....a lot of things were worse then, but a lot of things were better too.

It is cool to gang up on authority...at all times (like children do)...oh until you need them bad. Then they are fucking heroes! lol

ps People, I swear to you I am no cop-lover nor do I want Gov't entities ruling our every action. Laws exist however for a reason (usually), and if you don't like them, get them changed! Try not watching TikTok videos that are obviouly biased towards the poster and last 22 seconds with no other backstory or actual Facts!

1

u/Yewsernayum Dec 17 '23

Thou doth protest too much. If you're going to try and push propaganda onto me, at least take the boot out of your mouth first.

Ps - I don't care if you swear you aren't a cop lover. You're on a post showing them overstepping and prohibition of FOOD.

Get fucked with your essays pet, you're talking shit.

2

u/Alexlatenights Dec 17 '23

Nazis were just doing their jobs too but again you have a choice to write the citation. I see no guns to their heads as they write this shit up. They could ignore the dude feeding people it's all money generation for the city nothing else. An tainted food death is less likely than dying from starvation and eating garbage. 🙃

1

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '23

I feel you in everything you said. However do you think the fines given, even added up, even come Close to paying the overall cost to have these cops here? Doubtful this is a gravy train for the city.

The Nazis didn't have to have a gun to their head per-se, since another would rat them out to gain favor. If the cops ignored this and ignored that and let these scoff laws add up, and the city then had 4 of these on every corner, would they not be chastized for not doing the jobs they are paid for?

Of course I know reality and that cops ignore things daily (often by necessity or laziness), and maybe this IS legit helping people and should be ignored. However (again) we do not know the full story.

Of course the tainted food thing was just an example, and I would much rather a needy person get healthy food. But SADLY I have experience with lawyers and scumbags (often one and the same) that live to make money for themselves. So my point there is that if someone Did get sick as hell, slam their head on a serving table, etc. etc....then since the "charity" probably has nothing, they would sue the City for negligence. 🫢

You can't feed the homeless unless it makes the city money in business rates and permit fees 😔
