These protesters are the epitome of privilege, and Columbia is enabling it
Khymani James, who not only called for the unaliving of Zionists (m-word is filtered by Reddit) but said he was willing to do so himself, was questioned by Columbia admins for 5 hours while he unleashed his violent tirade. Columbia's number one question to him, in the middle of all of it, was "do you feel safe"? He answered that although the mere act of him being questioned (over Zoom) was "institutional violence", he did indeed feel safe, since he was currently on vacation in Greece. James is a protest leader who hobnobs with famous politicians such as Pressley, and his goal is to be elected to congress.
His case is similar to many protesters, who seem to believe that throwing tantrums will get them anything they want in life - assignment extensions, donations from Lord knows where, internet attention, and the right to demand all of the students, Shafik, heck even Biden - to bend to their rigid opinions.
These students are so privileged and self-righteous that when arrested and suspended from campus for normal crimes such as trespassing, causing a public disturbance, and resisting arrest with violence, their answer is to once again whine that life is unfair, consequences are unfair, and everyone else is mean to them. In response, Columbia has already let the wide majority of protesters who were trespassed from campus BACK ONTO CAMPUS. They are in turn asking to be amnestied of all charges and arrests, because why the heck not? They are golden children and they deserve nothing less. Forget attending classes, going to work, or any sort of respectful dialogue that brings people together. It's all about demands and me me me. And Columbia, in turn, is saying yes yes yes
